  1. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

111 referred me to A&E as I had complex issues. They felt I would get all the tests i needed and a better assessment rather than seeing a GP. I waited almost 4 hours to see GP, who did not examine me correctly or didn't listen. Told me I needed to go and see my own GP, to refer me for scans. When I tried to explain, that I had been trying to get through to the practice and couldn't for over a week. He basically said it was, my fault for living in Aylesbury! He made reference to the Grammer school that it brings in to many people! And something about car parks! I was in pain and shocked by his comments. I had to go home in pain, another night of restless sleep with no help from this Doctor.

  2. Review titled Poor a&e

Second visit in two weeks with my elderly mum. Both visits in excess of 7 hours, which seems to be a common experience. Staff generally kind and helpful, but very little information given and no indication of timescales - just left waiting for hours on end. Lots of people lying on trollies in corridors. Not great.

  3. Review titled Long wait for described symptoms

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Presented with typical heart attack symptoms for a woman.Waited for 6 hours before doctor realised one vital blood test had not been asked for. Then waited another 90 minutes for results that confirmed I had had a heart attack. It was all systems go from then on and had to be blue lighted to Harefield.Lots of vital time wasted

  4. Review titled Adequate but attention to detail needed

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mrs Dennis - Posted on 02 April 2024

Whilst we are grateful that our grandson was delivered safely and our daughter recovered from her C-Section. The way in which she was sewn up was a mess. The scar was up and down like a fiddlers elbow and some internal skin protruding from the wound. She will probably have to have further surgery to remove this as it’s affecting her confidence. Her first c section scar was lovely and neat. I wish they could have just taken a little more care. I know they are rushed at getting numbers in and out of theatre and this shows. I’m left disappointed that now my daughter has more appointments looming with 2 young children to care for. Please either take more care or let someone else sew up the patients who is more proficient. Thank you.

  5. Review titled Caring Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was unable to walk and was advised by my GP to go to A and E at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. I was admitted to the Acute Medical Unit and stayed there whilst I was diagnosed which included blood tests, a CT scan and a MRI scan. The care and attention by doctors and nurses that I received was brilliant. I was diagnosed and put on medication to get me better. After two weeks in hospital I can now walk and have nothing but praise for the care and attention I received. Thank you al

  6. Review titled Poor tyelephonic contact

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Alan Jeffries - Posted on 11 March 2024

I received a letter giving an appointment date which I needed to change. Numerous 'phone calls were made but the department number to press was impossible to hear. I am now unable to contact anybody to request a change.

  7. Review titled A&e is horrendous and inhumane

Rated 1 star out of 5

My 80 year old father has had such bad experience here today. Was bought in at 11am by ambulance with possible broken or dislocated hip. He has a brain tumour also and severe cardiac issues. He wasn’t seen or spoken to for over 6 hours despite me trying to politely talk to staff. No pain relief was given at all until I mentioned it many times. He was eventually taken for xray at 6pm, and had dislocated hip. Put straight back into the corridor. Now awaiting bed so they can operate tomorrow but they say it could be hours for a bed if at all do you are expecting an 80 year old man with all these issues and a dislocated hip with no pain relief since 2pm to sleep in a corridor . Just horrific and not humane

  8. Review titled Children’s a&e- very quick

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 March 2024

My husband and I were worried about our son (2 years) as he was hurt and out of character crying. Obviously it was quite upsetting. As we got to the children’s a&e reception we were greeted politely and without judgement. We were waiting for 15 minutes before we were seen. The nurse immediately knew what was wrong and after manipulating our son’s arm, we were sent on our way. Excellent service!

Nurses and Doctors were great when you finally get to see them. However, the whole system is massively inefficient. It was over 2 and a half hours before blood was taken for analysis and another 2 and a half hours before the test results were available. A large number of other patients required blood tests and similar wait times were experienced. Why not have 1 nurse or possibly 2 who do blood tests as soon as you arrive. This 1 simple thing would slash wait times at a stroke. It highlights a lack of management and organisation. This is basic time management! A couple of days later when I returned for a scan, it took hours before the scan notes were available at the secd. The member of staff who carried out the scan was doing the notes when I was getting dressed after the scan. The Doctor in the secd insisted that they did not receive the results for many hours after the scan was carried out. As far as I am aware, emails are practically instantaneous as soon as they are sent. I am sure that the member of staff who carried out the scan did not delay sending the results to the secd. It is also apparent that the front line staff are lacking in basic time management skills as they seem to wander around aimlessly repeatedly. Maybe the staff are trying to increase the "number of steps recorded" on their Fitbits! I was shocked at how badly run the department was. Management is clearly ineffective and ineffectual!

  10. Review titled Amazing experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kathy - Posted on 21 February 2024

Like many patients I’m sure , I was nervous about today’s scan . However from the moment of arriving at the check in desk to the end it was a flawless and caring experience. The receptionist greeted me with a smile and directed me to the seating area . Giving full eye contact all the time . So often these days you barley get a glance , and here it was totally the opposite . Right on time was called by a nurse who introduced herself to me with a smile . We chatted briefly into the room and she introduced me to the radiographer . She smiled and welcomed me too . I have had private treatment previously in my life just a couple of times , and I always felt I’d been treated as a person a human and not a number , today was exactly like that too . I was talked through everything with a smile and care and both ladies kept checking in on me to see I was ok . The department is fabulous as it’s new which did add to the experience too . The procedure was over quickly and it was explained to me what happens next etc We all said goodbye and I thanked them for looking after me , But I have been so blown away by today I felt I wanted to write and share it again to a wider circle . A totally different experience to other hospitals I’ve had in the past
