  1. Review titled Fantastic Urology outpatients department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Catherine Hodgson - Posted on 26 June 2023

I would like to greatly thank all of the highly professional and kind and caring staff in the Urology outpatients department. From the receptionist who was so kind to me when I was very early this morning. She put me at my ease and provided everything I needed for the appointment. I will always remember her kindness. To all the staff who greeted me with good morning and smiles when they saw me looking anxious in the waiting room . To the sisters and nurses who looked after me and gave me clear instructions on what was going to happen. To the nurses and doctor in the consultation room who were professional calm and kind and put me at ease during the procedure. I would like my thanks and gratitude to be passed on to each and everyone of you who make sure that the NHS and patient experience is like mine today .

Have had a bad fall I was left laying outside for two hours before I got a ambulance. Spent over five hours then sent home with just a sling for my broken arm. I was supposed to be contacted within 72hrs. Nothing by Wednesday I phoned my doctor to look into it for me. Phoned hospital again today Thursday four days later and they said that my report from AE had not been sent over the pain has been dreadful no one seems to have cared about me.

  3. Review titled Missed diagnosis

Rated 4 stars out of 5

After attending A&E I was referred to trauma with a broken humerus bone in my right arm. After three weeks of wearing a cuff which was held by a strap going around my upper chest (which was very uncomfortable) returning for a check up last week, I had more X-rays and a CTScan and I was told I also have a fractured elbow which had been missed on previous X-rays ! And I am now going to have to see a consultant to see what they plan on doing. I feel all this could have been spotted earlier as I have been in pain for nearly a month now. I cannot fault the medical professionals as the problem has been with communication between departments.

Tried to phone the above unit countless times to make a self referral … the same automated message each time about high volume of calls. I called both early mornings and pm , an absolute joke. What is going on? Also e mailed but no response after four weeks.

Everyone was amazing from the surgeoens, nurses, anethstatist, recovery staff, health care staff were caring, friendly and patient which was really appreciated and made a massive difference to my child's experience. We were given great information on discharge. Keep up the great work it was greatly appreciated.

  6. Review titled Professional caring service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Bob Leishman - Posted on 03 July 2023

Colonoscopy/radiology/prep team/ collectoral surgery/ward c32 -teams Superlatives fail me..... At every stage through the process I was informed how what when and met with smiling faces and an abundance of professionalism and wilingness to answer all my questions, in essence everything was done to make my experience flawless. Each team supported me at every stage and in anaesthesia we had a good laugh before surgery. I obviously spent time recovering on c3 with the erp nurse leading, supported by the multi disciplinary team In turn supported by auxiliary teams of cleaners and those keeping me fed and watered. I hope I expressed my thanks at each stage to all, but am greatful at this early stage of my recovery to go into print and say 'thank you'. Nursing (all of its teams) is not just a job it is a vocation as exemplified by those whose looked after me through this process. Please thank them all again for their expertise, dedication, positive attitudes and willingness to turn up for long shifts smiling no matter what patients say yet continue to deliver such high level of care.

  7. Review titled When life comes to its close

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rita Davison - Posted on 20 June 2023

From the urgent arrival of the paramedic team and the approach and care given, these co-workers truly deserve high praise. On the emergency admission unit, ward d44 we again met praiseworthy staff. We were all involved in discussions and the decisions including our poorly relative. We honestly need to thank all those involved in his comfort and care and also for the compassion we as family received. Thank you hardly seems enough but it’s truly given. We were blessed to spend these final few days with him and that was only by the help of the paramedics and the staff of d44. The Grey family

  8. Review titled Best experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had previously had baby number 2 here and to be honest I was not looking forward to having to go back to have my third baby I felt I was left a lot during and after birth but they have really improved their service and from the start of being admitted into delivery suite to the after care I really could not of faulted them. I had four midwives two of which I had until shift change over, I have to praise the lady who was actually a student midwife she really did everything and more to ensure I was happy, the two ladies who come took over was honestly amazing. I felt like I had so much support from them and even after having the baby they really went above and beyond to make sure both me and baby were happy and healthy. On the postnatal ward before being discharged was also a great experience the rooms provided are lovely and bright and I just felt so relaxed after going through a traumatic experience. I was in and out of hospital very quickly as well from going in at 4.30am and out by 7.30pm by choice as I wanted to be with my other children but every thing from making sure I had a shower, making sure I was eating and generally well. So many people have something negative to say about Sunderland but I really don’t think there was anything to fault in my last experience with them. If I was to ever have another baby I’d opt for Sunderland again.

  9. Review titled Terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by B young - Posted on 29 May 2023

My sister broke her leg on Friday, was in urgent care, they said no X-ray available so booked her an app for Saturday. We attended, someone had failed to book the app, so was in a total of 6 hours. Co firmed break but doctors don’t operate on bank holiday weekend so sent home! Sent home with an actual broken leg, absolutely unbelievable the state of the NHS. Waiting room overflowing with people waiting hours to be seen, people sitting on floors, no wheelchairs for those with broken bones. And the attitude of front desk staff is appalling, seen happier funeral directors

  10. Review titled Amazing treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sharen Dobson - Posted on 16 May 2023

I have to say the follow up to my operation that happened 2 weeks ago for a broken ankle at the fracture clinic today was amazing. The staff at the fracture clinic, from reception, the plaster room (especially them), x-ray and suite 3 were honestly fantastic. Thank you for your compassion, for your kindness and for your efficiency. I had a bad experience on the ward 2 weeks ago but that was not necessarily down to the staff but a lack of understanding around Autism and how it can have an impact on people staying in hospital. The fracture clinic staff and some of the staff during my stay really are worth their weight in gold. I hope this review finds it way to the staff who helped me today. You made a visit that was very difficult for me, that bit easier because of your understanding. Thank you so much.
