Had to have bone marrow sample taken. The two nurses who I saw were brilliant. A little discomfort but no pain. They made me feel at ease from the start and throughout.

  4. Review titled No one told me anything

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Martin Bulmer - Posted on 03 October 2022

I was taken into A&E for suspected Pneumonia. 1/10/22. I was given a heart trace and a blood test (10 mins) then later a chest X-ray (10 mins) I was actually in A&E for 7.5 hrs and only once did some one say to me you’re next, and that was only because she came in to do my BP. I know it is a busy department and I was a non urgent case, but is it not possible to inform the patients where they are in a queue or what is happening, rather then just leaving them sitting there for hours on end, not knowing what is going on. The staff are great but the information given to the patients is diabolical. I’m diabetic and was feeling hungry after 4 hours I eventually caught a nurse and asked if it was possible to get something to eat. It took 1.5 hrs to find me a sandwich. Please just tell people what is happening?

My experience of the cancer department , from the head of surgery and her team has been nothing short of amazing , prompt efficient and caring. The care I received after surgery in the ward , from the nursing team, is an absolute credit to them and to the head of your surgical team , you must be very proud of your throat team . I can not speak more highly of your team !

  7. Review titled Outstanding service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Holly Kelly - Posted on 04 September 2022

After 3 years of support from the paediatric team, we are eternally grateful for all of their help, support, advice and reassurance they gave my daughter and our family. An outstanding and thorough service. We have nothing but thanks and praise for Sunderland hospital, it’s staff and the NHS. My daughter is now a happy, thriving 3 year old and that is down to the hard-work and dedication of all the staff involved in my daughters care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After struggling for a few days with toothache I attended the unit today. I couldn't get an appointment anywhere. A dentist and assistant were able to help and the process was swift, professional and I'm extremely grateful they could. Amazing!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This was a re-scan appointment of my 20 weeks scan. I was quite nervous and didnt have the best experience before but the sonographer really put me at ease, explaining what she was looking at. She was so lovely and treat me with kindness and respect. This really made me feel so much better about further appointments, she is a credit to the nhs.

  10. Review titled No introduction

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 August 2022

On arriving at houghton pcc there was no introduction from the assisting nurse and person conducting scan. No explanation of the initial procedure. No confirmation of my details. Unfortunately I found the assistant to have no interpersonal skills and her first words to us were who’s this (my mam came with me). When we gave answer ..well you will both have to wear masks. All of which is fine but the tone wasn’t pleasant and given no introduction followed for such an intimate examination it added to my anxiety (which is why my mother attended with me).
