  1. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

From first dialling 111 to my husband being discharged from hospital (thankfully he was only in hospital overnight) the treatment he received from everyone who attended to him was exceptional. I cannot praise the staff highly enough.

  2. Review titled Shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

by David - Posted on 02 January 2023

Been here a few times for various reasons and on each visit I was left with a disappointing visit. There are signs everywhere in the hospital about healthy living, but the drinks vending machines (6 in total) only had fizzy, full sugar soda in them. Even the ‘Smart Water’ vending machines were completely empty of bottled water. Dirty entrance to A&E, toilets without loo paper and extortionate parking charges for patients.

  3. Review titled Dire experience in the Urgent Care Centre

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Ian Dawson - Posted on 29 December 2022

Signposted to the Hospital's Urgent Care Centre by NHS111 with a suspected adverse reaction to an antibiotic prescribed for a heavy chest infection: told to arrive within the hour. Arrived 7pm, had an 'Streaming' assessment (definitely not a Triage) and told it was "unlikely to be an adverse reaction to the antibiotic" but they'd test my blood and carry out an ECG. The waiting room was packed out - in excess of 60+. Was advised of a 5hr waiting time, then that was increased to 7hrs then after waiting 2 hours I was advised the waiting time had increased to 10+ hours with 30 patients waiting to be seen ahead of me. I was feeling very ill - rapid breathing, high temperature, ringing in my ears and a viscious cough which was very close to Coughing Syncope. The NHS guidance for a severe chest infection is 'lots of rest, keep hydrated and manage the symptoms with Paracetomol & Ibrufen' I certainly received none of that during my 2 hours of hell in the Urgent Care Centre waiting area so I decided I'd be better off at home and self-administer the NHS guidance...I discharged myself. I have never been so relieved to get out of that Urgent Care Centre - it was hell!. Note to the Manager in Charge: patients present with all sorts of urgent care needs, some can sit bolt upright for 10+ hours on one of the waiting room seats (with no air conditioning), others might need to be lying on a bed or even in a recliner during the 10+ hour wait and preferably in a separate waiting area from the 'walking wounded'...hardly rocket science!. The Urgent Care Centres 'streaming' didn't seem to work either as despite my severe symptoms I got the impression there was a 'first come first served' operation in place on the night of the 28/12/2022 despite NHS England guidance stating patients should be prioritised according to the urgency of the patients need. Advice to others who may need urgent care. ring 999 and ask for an ambulance!

  4. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Attended imaging services; staff were friendly, courteous and gave details of procedures to be carried out. I was treated with respect and dignity and felt reassured throughout by staff who performed their duties in a professional manner, pain free and within a supportive framework. Thank you team. Thank you NHS for your great work.

  5. Review titled Great Experience with ACL Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Reiss - Posted on 16 December 2022

I was nervous about my ACL reconstruction surgery when I was admitted to day case. The wait time was only 8 months which is quick for ACL surgery’s (can be up to 3 years). When I was admitted the surgical team and all the nurses were so helpful and kind, they made me feel safe and explained anything I had concerns with. The anaesthetic team were amazing at alleviating my fears and ensuring I was as comfortable as possible during my surgery. It was as they said and I was lights out, when I woke up I was surrounded by amazing nurses, I felt groggy and in a little bit of pain, they listened and gave me pain medication straight away and antibiotics. Moving to the recovery room after I fully woke up, the nurses got me a cup of tea and some food and made sure I was comfortable, they were super speedy with anything I needed and made me feel super comfortable there. When the physio visited he was lovely and so supportive, he went through the routine physio with me and decided I was ready to go home as soon as I felt well enough, I honestly can’t thank him enough for just being so understanding and kind. The nurse who was in the recovery room hand wrote little tips and everything I needed to remember (such as when to take my next medication, when to take the bandage off, what to do and not to do) it was nice to feel like they cared and I wasn’t just another number in a hospital bed. They’re all superstars and I would recommend the hospital and all of the team, honestly all of them. Thankyou

  6. Review titled Amazing care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 December 2022

All the nurses and HCA’s I spoke to were absolutely lovely, really caring, kind and chatty which helps put you at ease. The doctor who saw me was very thorough and explained everything they were doing which made a difference. They double checked the information I gave them was correct and even though the department was really busy, I didn’t feel like I was just being rushed through. I felt in safe hands throughout and nothing was too much for them. Thank you.

I attended Gastroenterology clinic today. Staff were friendly and reassuring. Procedures were explained and staff introduced themselves during handovers and stages of care. Very appreciative of the care and attention provided. Thank you to all of the team. Best wishes.

  8. Review titled Totally unacceptable

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Patricia baskurt - Posted on 14 November 2022

I went to A × E after suffering from acute pains in my lower abdomen for 5 days . When i was unable to suffer the pain any longer i contacted 111 who advised i went to hospital. The pain was at a point where i was crying and doubled up . When i arrived at A and E and and was taking in for the temp ect . Her first words were " theres a ten hour wait" it was impossible for me to wait in a room full of people on a hard uncomfortable chair. I was in agony. I would have spent the day been stared at because of my behaviour. It would have been too embarrassing for me. I told the nurse i was unable to sit and she told me to see my doctor (which i had already tried) . My daughters boyfriend brought me some barely water. Which seems to have helped 100%. Sounds like i had kidney infection. Hope im right and its not something more serious.

A volunteer and the receptionist were friendly and extremely helpful. The staff in ENT were efficient and caring, the appointment was exactly on time, and the care taken was great. Whole experience gave me a really good feeling.

Paediatric orthopaedic surgery. Great surgical team and surgery on my teen daughter. Excellent care on f63 from all the nurses, healthcares, domestic staff and physios and everyone else who shared a smile, just a brilliant team who responded and managed her pain and anxiety needs with great care and went above and beyond and looked after the very anxious parents too.
