Review titled Friendly,helpful staff
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Sandra Hennessey - Posted on 28 February 2023
Visited xray department today for my dad, couldn't find a chair to take him to the department as he's really bad walking at the moment but he managed to get there on time, we didn't wait long to be called in and a really lovely nurse who told us she just graduated a year ago brought him out in a chair and took him to the entrance of the hospital for our transport home. She chatted with us until our car arrived and was very pleasant. Thank you for her help today by making it easier for my dad who is 84.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. We are sorry you couldn't find a chair at the hospital entrance. We hope it wasn't too far for you and your dad to walk. We are so pleased you were both escorted for your transport home by one of our nurses. That was such a kind and helpful thing to do.

Review titled Impolite staff
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Whilst I appreciate staff being busy, I believe there should be a level of politeness from all. Understand when someone suffers from anxiety, telling them they can’t have someone with them whilst being seen only makes things worse. Then for a member of staff to be quite surly without even a please or thank you just makes for an overall bad experience.

Review titled Amazing teamwork
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Michelle p - Posted on 08 February 2023
After a few months with gallstones I was able to get a cancellation slot earlier than expected. However rearranged due to a false positive pregnancy test. However rearranged within a short time a lot (15 day). From arriving for the 2nd attempt at surgery from reception to leaving I can not fault the staff. They ensured all blood was done and right medical clothing etc given prior to surgery. Anaesthetist was amazing explaining everything. Put at ease in theatre I remember answering a question one minute and the next thing I know I am awake in recovery finishing the conversation. I was really anxious op attempt 1 however more relaxed today. The offer of food and drink was very prompt and the duty of care was outstanding. Ensuring I was well enough to move around safely etc. and on leaving escorted back to the care of family. With a booklet of aftercare at home. I can not be anymore grateful to the surgeon and his amazing team for getting me from pain with gallstones to happier back to the normal me. Especially under the current situation Nhs nationwide with strikes and rise in covid again. Everything ran so smoothly better than expected

Review titled Quick care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Michelle Parkin - Posted on 13 February 2023
After becoming poorly over the weekend due to a stray gallstone I was asked to attend a&e as soon as possible. I was seen within the hour as it was less busy than usual. I was asked to go to sdec department and taken to a bay. I was relieved as I was every nauseous and in pain. I can not fault the care I got and the fast response when I became very poorly being sick. The nurse came in and reassured me not to worry and within minutes I had and iv inserted into my arm to rehydrate administered anti sick pain relief and I think a bit morphine for the pain. I returned yesterday for another blood test which showed worsened but was able to pinpoint why it all happened. Been back in today 13/2/23 had an mri scan which is now clear and bloods stabilised so the stone seems to have left my body. The team both in a&e and sdec are an absolute amazing team. Amd ther turn around time for getting patients in and out was very good. The reassuring team in sdec last few days has kept me calm due to anxiety and one team member in general who has character to him. If it wasn’t for him Saturday and room day and the lady I saw yesterday able to explain the outcome of previous bloods I would not have had my mri so soon. Amd to be leaving with a clean bill of health and advised to rest up and use correct pain relief etc has helped me as scared massively. Thanks srh for the hard work in tough times

Review titled Our dated not a comfortable surrounding
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2023
Visited Sunderland maternity dept with my daughter I was astonished how the maternity area was very old and maintenance work not carried out not a great surroundings. Blue tack all over walls and chipped paint However the nurses were lovely . It could be quite an emotional time especially for first time or younger mothers and for the waiting areas to be quite depressing can add to the stress. I know the budgeting for the NHS is very tight but I thought I had just walked into the old royalty hospital

Review titled Excellent staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jing - Posted on 13 February 2023
There was a delay but when asked the nursing staff found out immediately the problem. The doctor, was excellent and saved my partner having to translate as he could speak Mandarin with me. I felt wanted and he sorted out all my requests and issues and has arranged a scan just a week later to check my throat. The nurses and doctor were all very friendly and helpful and my partner was able to return to the waiting room so I could discuss matters in private with the Doctor and Nurse. Great service.

My experience of this service was poor, staff did not seem to care about issues presented and also gave advice by using the internet to search for treatment advice off google

Review titled Outstanding Quality of Care and attention.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Dorinda Stokes - Posted on 24 February 2023
From entering the reception area of The Emergency Centre … to treatment on Ward 51 the quality of care and attentiveness has been outstanding. The whole team , from your household staff to all your medical members have given their time to reassure and inform us at every stage of my husband’s treatment. We have both been treat throughout our visit by highly courteous and competent staff. To give this level of attention and such detailed discussion has proved a great benefit to easing the stress and worry for both the patient and his family. Your attitude of sensitivity and respect for all under your care has been more than impressive. As old people we have experienced a lifetime of hospital care and from our experience this week…. this has been the best ever received.Thank you for getting us sorted and keep up the good work. It is truly appreciated.

Review titled Terrible
Rated 1 star out of 5

Drove to urgent care after talking to 111 drove round all the car parks for over 30 mins trying to get a space but eventually give up and drove home, got a taxi to the hospital to sit in Urgent care which seems to be the least Urgent place I have ever been to, the receptionist I spoke to seemed like she couldn’t be bothered to talk to anyone, sat and waited in pain for 2.5 hours to be seen. Several people that came in behind me were called through by the nurse. Eventually seen by a doctor and sent to X-ray and back to see doctor, doctor was very nice and helpful . 3.5 hours in total. The lady in X-ray was very nice. The male toilet was disgusting in Urgent care
