The trauma unit was very well run and the staff were brilliant. Food good too! Very attentive in finding out exactly what was going on inside my body.

  4. Review titled Lovely staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My Wife of 85 was rushed blue like from near Scotch Corner with open break to her leg. From the moment she arrived in resus the care and kindness of All staff has been fantastic, they also extended this kindness to me whilst visiting. She is hoping to be transferred nearer to home in Manchester but will be sorry to say goodbye to all who have cared for her. The Ambulance drivers (who were also super) said she could not be coming to a better hospital. Thank you all and I only wish the politians would realize you are worth more than them and train drivers. Good luck with your claims

  6. Review titled A & E staff fantastic

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 July 2023

Staff at A & E were lovely , looked after my son with care and dignity. He was moved to ward 1 early hours of the morning , he was not in a good place mentally . Due to the medication he had taken he was very confused, restless and delusional . He was put on a ward with other patients.Due to the medication he had taken his behaviour was very erratic, but not aggressive.Upset me straight away to see the night staff had got the security onto the ward , due to his confused state of mind . I understand about having to protect other patients and staff, but this happened within the first 5 - 10 minutes of being on the ward, which wasn’t helpful to my son , seeing these large men in uniform around him. These security staff were trying to get him to settle in bed , I didn’t know that security staff should actually be interacting with the patients and telling them what to do , as my son didn't know what he was doing , I would like to think that his condition at that time was not talked about to staff that didn’t need to know , they are not medically trained ?? Some of the staff I would say , had no nursing skills at all , no compassion and no time for my son. Throughout the night , which he remained awake until early next morning , I noticed how some staff were quite bothered by his presence , having to watch him constantly , and discussing him with looks of dissaprovement, being on that ward. He ended up getting put into a side ward ,as other patients were disturb by him being there , which should have been done straight away , coming from A& E . Throughout the night , from the side ward , I could hear some of the staff were constantly complaining about other patients on the ward , which is very unprofessional in my eyes . It went on most of the night twittering on , as you can imagine , I’m with my son who I was very upset and concerned about ,this is not what you want to hear . I wouldn’t say he was offered enough hydration throughout the night either , maybe a few time . What has happened to the nursing profession , some people just do it cause it’s a job , not a vocation. I’m not saying all staff that night were a cause for concern , but some were very unprofessional and this is a cause for concern , watching on it felt very uncomfortable . On a positive note I will say my son is now getting help and support via the mental health team , who came to see him the following day .

  8. Review titled Great all round

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andrew Wall - Posted on 07 June 2023

Im still in at the moment, but want to add this because of the experience. The practice has been great in general, but the staff have all been absolutely fantastic. Every one of them has been entirely helpful with everything, including anyone asks for. And they're also friendly all round too. Just great staff all round.

  9. Review titled Cleaners I doubt it

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kerry - Posted on 19 June 2023

I was sat in a+e waiting room and seen a young serco cleaner enter the toilet with only a pink/red cloth I presume to clean said toilet room. He then exited the toilet room and continued to use that same cloth to clean the door furniture. Now as a cleaner myself I use a disinfectant to clean a bathroom and use a separate cloth to clean the toilet and don't use that same cloth again. Also when in the a+e cubicle 12 the trolley/bed leavers on the bottom of the bed had dried blood on them. You shouldn't leave hospital with mor germs than you went in with. Cleaners need an overhaul. Disgraceful.
