My first Urology consultant appointment was Friday 19th January. 15 weeks later I am still awaiting receipt of a report and a follow up Cystoscopy appointment.

Following cardiac surgery on 17th of January I can only congratulate all of the staff supporting patient care & post surgery recovery on Ward 32. The professionalism of the staff was exceptional I could not fault any aspect of the care I received during my stay. A big thank you to you all.

  3. Review titled Saved a Mum days of worry

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hayli Ingram - Posted on 02 January 2024

I am a second time mum, who didn't realise how anxiety provoking the second time would be. After worrying about my new little one for a week we went to peads A and E and had him checked. He was perfectly fine but the time taken by the nurse practioner and staff nurse to offer reassurance and advice was amazing, it really settled my partner and I. I'm sorry I have forgotten your names but the two nurses who worked the 23rd December night shift and talked to two shattered parents about the size of babies tummies ... thank you!!!!

  4. Review titled Thank you just isn't enough

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda Johnson - Posted on 10 January 2024

My husband was blue lighted to James Cook on December 5 2023 as he was having a heart attack. When I got there ( We live in Durham) he was in intensive care, unconscious. The staff were very welcoming to me and my family. They kept me informed what was happening with the plethora of machines and tubes he was covered with. I'd never been in an Intensive Care Unit before and I was, and still am, in awe of the staff at James Cook. They fought so very hard to save my husband, they threw everything they had at him. Sadly it was not to be. The professionalism, the dignity, compassion and care shown towards both Keith and myself I've never experienced anywhere else. Myself and my family will be eternally grateful for everything they did to try and save Keith and also for their compassion towards us after he died. We will never forget you all, you made a dreadfully stressful and heartbreaking situation easier for us to deal with. No-one or any other hospital on this planet could have done more for Keith than James Cook Intensive Care 2 did. If your expertise alone could have saved him, Keith would have lived forever. God bless you all xxx

  5. Review titled Audiology Outpatient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Audiology are always so good at communicating with me over the phone when I need to call to sort things out for an elderly relative. It’s a friendly service with a smile too when I call at reception for batteries or to hand over the hearing aids for repair. Thank you Audiology.

The two members of staff that performed my ultra sound scan tonight were amazing. So kind and considerate explaining every step of the way. We are so very lucky to have this hospital and the amazing dedicated staff who work there. Thank you so much to these two ladies I wish I could remember your names but it was gynaecology outpatients.

  8. Review titled 5 year old at Eye Casualty

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Maggie Bamford - Posted on 14 November 2023

We were advised by GP to attend the walk in eye clinic for my 5yo son. Also had my 3yo daughter with me. The staff were so friendly and welcoming - made us all feel at ease and made such a fuss over my little boy. Even when we went to the on-site pharmacy to collect his prescription, the staff took the time to chat to the kids and even gave them both stickers which they loved. We are so lucky to have the NHS - and the brilliant people who work at James Cook. It could have been a really scary and stressful time but the kids had a great day out and both now want to be doctors and nurses when they grow up! Thank you!

  9. Review titled Lack of communication

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 November 2023

I turned up for my retuximab infusion only to be turned away because I'd had a covid booster 2 weeks ago. I was not aware of this and apparently I'm not the only person this has happened to. I've waited 3 months for my appointment. Maybe a head's up on the appointment letter would be a good idea.

  10. Review titled 1 year wait on appointment

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Deepti Neelkantan - Posted on 02 November 2023

Hi there, I been having constricted breathing for more than a year and my GP referred me to ENT department on 23 Nov 2022 and I have still not received an appointment from this team. I called the department in July and they said wait period is 12 months minimum and I am coming close to this. But I have had no appointments thought the post. I am suffering with my breathing and they don't seem able to see me and resolve my issues.
