Review titled mmru
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 February 2025
mmru physios worked well to get a 100 year old man mobile again following a hip fracture but all of a sudden things seemed to be rather rushed, rushing to find anyway which way they could to discharge him back to independent living, their answer for independent living to be two commodes, one by his bed and one by his chair with instructions not to independently live other than two step transfers from the bed or chair to the commode. He forgot, went to wash his hands, fell over, gashed his temple, had a significant nose bleed, a black eye, bruises and ended up back in hospital within 24 hours mmru didn’t assess him getting around his flat prior to discharge: such as use of the kettle, making himself a cuppa or slice of toast for example, just provided two commodes as their answer to independent living. Also, when asking him to make a serious decision the mmru turn up with three or more others, 3 or 4 really was over the top and quite intimidating.

Review titled Ward 25 cleanliness
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 December 2024
I was not impressed with the hygiene on ward 25. The antibacterial dispenser by the door was empty on each visit. On one occasion the toilet in the corridor had faeces splattered all over the inside of the bowl and the double door was open for all to sniff and see, disgusting. Gentlemen are given urine bottles by the bed, there is no gel for them to disinfect their hands with, no privacy curtain pulled round, visitors can see all including slightly dripping bottles being placed after use by the table on the bed where their food will be placed, the tables aren’t disinfected. One bay had a bowel infection yet visitors were still allowed in with ppe but some nursing staff, the physios and one patient from that bay were coming and going without ppe? Patients were also being discharged to other hospitals and to home from that infected bay, they could have been brewing / carrying the infection. Two physios walked from that bay, having worn no ppe, didn’t gel their hands at the door (no gel), walked down in front of me to the communal cafe and shop and back up to the ward. Overall, the hygiene in my experience was lacking. A hca had an iPad, put it down on the table, blew his nose, picked up the iPad and went off to attend to a patient without washing his hands after blowing his nose. It just felt generally dirty and unclean.

Review titled Excellent care from the team at SDEC
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dorothy Parsons - Posted on 13 October 2024
I had to go to SDEC on 12 October for blook transfusion and iro infusion. The care and professionalism of all the team (beginning with Reception) could not be faulted. I was made to feel very comfortable and unworried during my whole visit. The nursing staff and doctors were exceptional and the whole department had a friendly, warm atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to everyone involved.

Review titled Waited for 12 hours plus in James cook A&E
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 October 2024
Elderly male 94 years of age brought in by ambulance at 5pm on Monday evening, made to wait in the corridor for 6+ hours without triage on a stretcher, no bloods were taken, no request for scans or X-rays following a fall with a long lie. Waited until 4am, still no bloods, no doctor allocated to case, no pain medication offered or given. Staff had no empathy for the fact he had been waiting 12+ hours without a plan, in the absence of bloods or scans. Absolutely appalling. This is our so called nhs failing our most vulnerable, geriatric patients. And I happened to witness all this as a fellow healthcare professional before my very own eyes. Still waiting, no plan, now told have to wait another 2 hours for bloods to come back.

Review titled Very disappointed
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Hannah - Posted on 27 September 2024
Ended up in here Tuesday 24/09/2024 with infection and gallbladder issues. Been here multiple times and understand the wait times and the pressure the NHS is under. Very annoyed I can’t name the Dr and nurse who treat me appallingly. It’s was a miserable experience lead by two staff members who clearly believed patients should struggle/ suffer. Not an experience I’ve had here before.
