I arrived and was made extremely comfortable I have a disability and everyone was kind and welcoming. My planned knee replacement went ahead by such professional staff who went above and beyond. I want to say such a big thank you. I promise that I am still exercising and that it feels very strong I just love it.

  3. Review titled Outstanding maternity experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 March 2024

Was under the care of the maternity unit between 04/03 and 08/03 covering antenatal, delivery and postnatal care in relation to the birth of my daughter (07/03/24). I cannot thank the team enough for the exemplary care that was provided throughout my stay; both to me, my daughter and my husband. Every single staff member was attentive, professional and caring throughout every stage of my stay and are a credit to both the hospital and the NHS. One particular midwife was professional, confident and offered a level of care way beyond her years of experience; another offered me practical and compassionate care throughout and offered a sense of calmness when my husband and I needed it the most. The student midwife who led my labour and delivery; is a huge credit to her training and mentors and I can’t think of anyone else better placed to be in the profession. Society can be so quick to offer judgment and criticism when things go wrong and praise can be rare and infrequent. In this instance, there is no amount of words to describe how truly grateful I am for all staff members I came across and I will be forever singing the praises of the team. If there is any other way I can provide positive feedback to the maternity team, I would be very willing to do so.

  4. Review titled a very kind Doctor who explained everything clearly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Patricia Joan Selby - Posted on 20 March 2024

I went to A&E on Monday afternoon after tripping and falling badly on a kerb stone. The Doctor who explained everything clearly and was very helpful. It turned out I have a couple of crack on my right pelvis and possibly crack ribs. Doctor was happy for me to go home as I could just about walk. My husband I had used a walking stick which I found easy to use. We left it in the A & E waiting room by mistake and didn't think we would find it again, but we did have other sticks at home. On leaving we enquired at reception and found that someone had kindly handed it in. Please thank the Doctor and assure him that I am using the stick and would be grateful if you could pass on my thanks and reassure him I am doing as I am told. Many thanks

  5. Review titled Labour, delivery and after

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 April 2024

I went into labour with our first baby in March 2024. I was admitted for pain relief and review. All of the service and care I received were very good. However, it was a bank holiday weekend and I do feel as though I was forgotten about and had to seek someone out for pain relief at times. Everything seemed to take far longer which I get as there are less staff on bank holiday weekends. I was made to stay in hospital as I had an infection after the birth. There were several cases where things had been ticked on my medical forms that weren’t correct. And I don’t feel as though people read my notes so I had to keep repeating myself to every new person. Things could have been explained better to me than they were about why these decisions where made, what they were looking for etc. For my partner he did feel as though he was a second class citizen. Nobody really tried to talk to him or ask him anything about our son when he was born. Throughout our stay he was not able to get food from the trolley at meal times which is hard because then he’d have to leave me to get something to eat as we were in hospital longer than we expected. He found this especially hard when I was in labour. We had to ask for a bed for him to sleep on which was an air bed that deflated and even then it was almost felt like an inconvenience to them. All in all my baby and I were taken good care of but I do feel that some improvements could be made for the partners. It is also an important time for them.

  9. Review titled Kindness and reassurance

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret Williams - Posted on 10 March 2024

I visited A and E yesterday and also had a CT scan. All the doctors and nurses were kind from the outset and I was treated promptly and with kindness and respect at all times. I was anxious and in quite a lot of pain and the A and E Registrar was so kind and reassuring. He explained everything very carefully to me and carried out any procedures with such consideration. I would be grateful if you could please pass on my thanks to all the team. I cannot praise them enough.

  10. Review titled Mislaid records

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 March 2024

I attended at the request of my GP. After a wait in reception of two hours I saw the doctor who ordered blood tests and X-ray. I then had to sit in a small waiting room so my husband couldn’t join me. After three hours I still hadn’t had a blood test. I asked at reception and my paperwork had been mislaid. I had that done then x ray. More waiting for results, and a wait for a cat scan. Another wait of one hour thirty minutes for results of cat scan. All in all 11 hours in A and E. mine were not the only Notes which were mislaid as I heard conversations such as “where are the patients notes” and “We’ve lost his notes”. Having work for the NHS for 13 years I appreciate how pushed staff can be but surely losing notes holds things up?
