  1. Review titled Great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Judy Adams - Posted on 05 February 2024

From my first visit to now, being discharged, the care I have received on ward 10 has been first class. Staff have been kind and professional and so helpful. I am extremely grateful for their friendly care. Thank you all.

  2. Review titled Children A&E waiting hours

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Isabel Montoro Rodriguez - Posted on 25 February 2024

My 2 years old son and I spent 11 hours at the a&e last Wednesday. We wait for 6 hours to be seen by a doctor and 5 hours for test and results. I have to say that the doctors and staff were excellent. However, it’s absolutely ridiculous to wait for 6 hours to be seen by a doctor. We arrived at 3:30pm and we left at 2am without the treatment because the pharmacy of the hospital was cloaed during the night!!!!! I have to come back at 8:30am to collect my son’s medication, just a few hours later. How is it possible that an University's Hospital with A&E - children and adults - hasn’t the pharmacy open 24 hours??? The medication wasn’t available in any other pharmacy, just at the hospital. Please, stop playing with our lives, the waiting hours and close a pharmacy hospital are wrong decisions and they must change!! The doctors and staff are also fed up of these ridiculous decisions.

  3. Review titled Waiting times

Rated 1 star out of 5

I’ve been waiting for 38 weeks for a referral to the ENT department and the average waiting time is 24 weeks and I’m still waiting. It’s just hugely disappointing and frustrating that I’m still waiting to see someone given what I was told after being seen by three doctors. This service is just unreliable and I’m paying taxes for what exactly?

Excellent throughout - lengthy informative initial consultation. Experience as in patient couldn't be better - total care throughout by the whole team.

  5. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Although I had to wait almost a year for the procedure I must say that the service given at my appointment at St Cross was excellent. The team that looked after me were fantastic in all areas. I would like to say a special thank you to the theatre team who put me at complete ease during the procedure. A big thank you to each of you who looked after me.

  6. Review titled Crazy set up

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Arrived in A and E and my immediate thought was full house. A person's name is called to see whoever and then they're told to go back and sit in A and E. By that time more people have arrived meaning there becomes a shortage of seating. There's hardly much room for anyone in a wheelchair either. One thing I also observed that people accompany a patient were occupying a seat. Due to the environment being a rather small space all seating should go to the patient.

  7. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

A couple of weeks before Christmas I had an ectopic rupture at just before 6 weeks pregnant and as such required emergency surgery. It was late in the evening and I believe I was the last surgery that my surgeon preformed that day (a very long day of surgeries as I found out the next day) I am extremely grateful to him and every single member of staff who looked after me - they are amazing people! As are the staff in reproductive medicine, they are so very lovely!

  8. Review titled Unorganised chaos

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My stay of 12hrs!! Waiting room has been made smaller.. why? No space for wheelchairs, not enough seating, people were made to stand for 12hrs or sit on the floor. No cleaners for the whole time, 60+ people using 2 toilets that were revolting. Cups/sick bowls under chairs. Sick on floors not cleaned up properly. Shockingly rude staff/nurses in the waiting/triage area who were Extremely unhelpful and lacked empathy towards the people sat in pain. Utterly Failed system they’re running. Zero welfare for the patients suffering in their care and unwilling to help when asked. What I witnessed was heartbreaking. As a human being choosing to do that job, Do better

  9. Review titled Left very unsatisfied - sadden by the lack of care

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 November 2023

Took my 83 year old mother with blurred vision and head aches - headaches have been ongoing for 1 month, blood pressure was high, blurred vision in one eye. Triage was swift, waiting time was very long. Nurse who accessed her was fine, but the doctor or consultant was awful, he didn’t lay down clean paper on the bed I had to ask and he said no no don’t worry, but I was worried. He never gave me any results from her bloods, which I’ve recently been told have high inflammation markers, he smelt so unclean it was difficult to stay inside the small room. He discharged us without paper work and told us to go to the eye ed which was the following day appointment only. Nothing has been found wrong with the eye but the eye doctor thought at the very least due to her head aches, high blood pressure, age and blurred vision, A&E should have preformed an ultra sound. So gave us paper work to take back there and said a medical officer would be aware of us coming over. We went to the medical unit, only to be told we’d have to go through triage again and the waiting time is around 5.5 hours. Sadly we left, at 83 with those symptoms she couldn’t wait that long after already having two days of waiting times of 4.5 hours each . We are still no the wiser what is causes her problems. It’s well documented the NHS is suffering and I totally get the hours these doctors work. But I felt there was a total lack of care and interest in my mother.

  10. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by S Thompson - Posted on 27 November 2023

My husband is under the Eye Department. Every time he has an appointment and is told he will get a further appointment, we have to ring for a date or the results of tests taken. Communication between patient and clinic seems non existent. We have made several calls this week to both the clinic and the Consultants secretary, the secretary answerphone keeps saying I am on leave, leave your phone number and hospital number with a few details and I’ll get back to you. Still waiting after having made calls two weeks ago. Tried the clinic, whilst at Walsgrave, the receptionist rang for us and the person he spoke to said they would ring us at home. Still no one has called. What does one have to do when being told they would get a further appointment. There is no communication at all. Doesn’t give one much hope regarding the NHS.
