  1. Review titled Treatment brilliant, nourishment dreadful

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Trevor Machin - Posted on 10 April 2024

I was admitted to a and e with what turned out to be sepsis and e coli, I was shipped about to wards 4,5,6, The level of care was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble from the nursing staff at ever level. However I have to say the food that was served to me was shocking, the only meal edible was ceareal with milk, Sandwiches, dinners, salads, soups were simply dreadful, so much so I actually lost 7 pounds in weight in 7 days, jacket potatoes, salads, soups and sandwiches all not fit for human consumption, whoever sanctions the serving of such food needs totally retraining, extras such as salad cream for salads and chipped potatoes were days off being out of date, the taste was putrid and not safe to eat

  2. Review titled Long wait but worth it

Rated 4 stars out of 5

My husband was transferred via ambulance due to chest discomfort, an ECG showed he had likely had an MI. We had to wait in the corridor for several hours before being moved to a room. Staff team were attentive and friendly whilst carrying out their tests. His condition deteriorated after a few hours, and he complained of stomach cramps. The doctor was required and he examined and scanned him, before quickly moving him to resus as he was having another MI. Again staff were attentive and friendly. A decision was made to transfer him via blue lights ambulance to James Cook hospital. I cannot thank the staff enough for their care during our time in the department.

  3. Review titled Impossible to contact

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Daniel McWaters - Posted on 12 February 2024

Had an appointment cancelled for the end of January. Heard nothing about the rescheduled appointment. Phone just rings and rings so how I am meant to get in touch with them? Due a 3 month check up as I'm on biologics - it's coming up to 6 months and zero contact. Been in pain for 2 years now (which they are aware of) and just feel like I've been fobbed off to deal with it. Feels like nobody else is bothered.

  5. Review titled Excellent!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband has had an excellent experience in Ward 3. He stayed there for 7 nights and everything about the experience was positive. Staff were amazing - the pharmacist was just lovely! So patient and caring. My husband was tended to by many Ward Sisters and they were so attentive and hands-on. Doctors explained everything and the actual treatment he received was just amazing. All staff were super. The food was super too - good range of choices and always piping hot. We literally can't praise the care enough. Thank you to Ward 3.

  6. Review titled Letter to gp

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Stephen Cookson - Posted on 24 January 2024

I attended clinic on 29 dec 2023 and was prescribed a different drug to my normal ones. A letter was supposed to go to the gp informing them to add it to my repeat prescription and this has not happened luckily at time of writing I have 7 days supply left for this oversight to be rectified as soon as possible

  7. Review titled Great staff enduring a poor environment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 January 2024

Visited A&E with my daughter, staff were professional and caring. However, there was inadequate equipment provided for them to fulfil their role e.g. Dr had to use own phone as a torch. The waiting areas were filthy, blood on seats, spillages not cleaned up, this was witnessed over a 7 hour period and no cleaning staff checked the environment throughout this time. Clinical staff exceptionally busy and should not be expected to undertake cleaning duties as well.

on the 10/12/23 I was rushed into hospital as I was suffering hard to breathe and it felt like my ribs were crushed and my lungs caved in i had low blood pressure rapidly heartrate of 150 over had oxygen given to me on the way to hospital so i could breathe better when i got to hospital nurse or doctor ask me questions about my condition and how i felt and I explained the feeling i was having i had a ct-scan to see what was going on bloods taken for testing i had an Xray taken the wait was like 5 minutes nice nurse or doctor came round explained why i felt like I did and it is known as a spontaneous pneumothorax with is more or less a clapesd lung on my right side so I had to have a keyhole (vats) surgery performed witch is a tube inserted into my side inbetween chest wall and lung to allow the fluid to be removed through a tube to drain to allow my lung to expand I would like to thank the nurse who performed the keyhole vast surgery and all the staff that looked after me even I want to thank the raspatory nures for the advice before I was discharged from the hospital I would like to thank the paramedics for bringing me to Emergency service if it wasn't for the nice nurse at Shotley Bridge hospital who called for the ambulance I probably would be in a worser condition

  9. Review titled Filthy wards

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 December 2023

Transferred from immaculate QE Gateshead to Durham. My 10 year old has a chest infection with oxygen needed for 48 hours. Disgusting filth and dust everywhere. On beds, food on floor. I wiped surfaces down after suffering a coughing fit immediately upon entry. It was overwhelming. Terrible place to recouperate with respiratory problems. Can't wait to go home.

  10. Review titled Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 December 2023

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the nurse and staff at the GUM/Sexual Health clinic. The nurse who took my bloods this morning (13.12) was so incredibly friendly and inviting and it made all the difference in the world when attending the clinic. She's an asset to the Trust.
