The hospital was clean, airy, staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking at very realistic pricing, far more so than other hospitals

Review titled Disappointed

I have had ongoing ear problems for 8 months and was eventually able to get an appointment with an ENT consultant. I had an MRI scan around 4 weeks prior to the ENT appointment. It was clear on entering the room the consultant had not looked at the scans as he asked me " have you had your scan" I sat down and he brought up 3 scans upon his computer screen. He flicked through them and possibly took 3 seconds on each. No exaggeration. He then said there did not appear to be anything amiss in the scans, although I read the report myself on the NHS app and there were 2 areas that stood out for me but he did not explain. I told him I'm not imagining this pain however he did not offer any advice on what it may be or to whom I should turn to next. All he offered was to return in the summer for a hearing Test. During the meeting he did not once look in the affected ear, in my throat or my nose. I was left very disappointed and the meeting lasted all of 10 minutes. I have sat suffering in silence however I am not prepared to do so any longer. The consultant in my opinion showed no interest in my well being and showed a total lack of interest.

Review titled Amazing Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I’d like to leave feedback for someone who was working on Ward 40 and looking after my Uncle. It was a very difficult time for myself and he was amazing, he kept me up to date every step of the way and so reassuring. He spent time listening to me and went above and beyond to help.

Mum was transferred from EAU to ACU, family not advised so I turned out outside of visiting and don’t think I have ever felt quite so patronised. I was firstly told she was still on EAU. I advised she wasn’t as I had just been there but they just said well she isn’t here. I had to ask where I could go to find out where she was when they reluctantly checked their records only to find she was on their ward. They then intimated I had given the wrong surname!! When I got there, I said I noted I was outside of visiting as I didn’t know she had been moved and asked if they could make an exception under the circumstances. They hadn’t heard any of this and I had to repeat, not that they seemed to understand it any better the second time round. They simply told me the time as evidently I can’t tell the time. I was told it was protected meal time and to go away and come back in an hour and 15 minutes. My mum is not eating well just now so I could have helped her. I doubt the staff would as when I got to see her later all her belongings were dumped on the floor in green plastic bags rather than the bags she had come in with. I can only assume if they don’t have a minute (which is all it took for me) to unpack her few possessions, then I doubt they had time to help her eat. Finding her open toilet bag on the floor next to a bedpan was disgusting. I tried to speak to someone to pass on some important information and for a general update but without success. Was advised to ring back this morning to speak to a nurse but it transpires they don’t answer the phone. The lady on switchboard was very apologetic explaining they don’t have any admin on over the weekend, not sure why was told to ring then unless whoever I spoke to just wanted rid of me. As I nurse of over 30 years experience, I know first hand the pressures on the NHS but this does not excuse the way my mum and now her family are being treated. I not only feel let down but extremely embarrassed.

North tees preassement clinic - Voicemail message left to advise appointment has been cancelled after waiting 3weeks for an appointment. No explanation why and no offer of a rescheduled appointment. Tried ringing department for over 30 minutes and just keep getting cut off! At least at Hartlepool hospital when they cancel they reschedule the appointment for you the next day!

Just had my premature baby here on Saturday, noticed when he was just 4 days old that he had been bathed without my permission and without me being there, therefore I missed my first baby’s first bath, I’m absolutely gutted and ashamed, not only that but he is not supposed to have a bath that early as it can dry his skin out, he had 2 baths in 1 week of him being alive. Appalled.

Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jessica Mcsporran - Posted on 27 January 2024
We have had a 2 night stay in hospital as my little girl had a viral induced wheeze needing oxygen and nebulisers and the care we receive was amazing by all nurses/ doctors! Nothing was too much trouble, especially when my partner had to go home I was felt at ease. Lovely staff and ward Jess

A house move made registering at a new GP whilst navigating a route for scheduled hip replacement extremely tricky ..so enormous thanks to the member of staff at orthopaedics who made the transition possible in a friendly and competent manner.
