  1. Review titled Caring but radiologist can’t use a picc line

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 November 2024

With more more cancer why are there still few nurses and radiologists who know how to use a pic lines in hospitals. West Mid needs to train them all up now. My mother has cancer and a pic line. It’s very hard to canulate her as she has teeny veins, she also has a needle phobia. She has had to deal with several attempts to canulate her, poking and hurting her. When she has a perfectly good pic line that could be used but the radiologist doesn’t know how to use it. Train them up, train everyone up!!! It’s unescesary pain and stress.

  2. Review titled unpleasant experience

I visited the emergency due to testicular and groin pain. The nurse who took my blood pressure asked me questions like, “How long have you had this pain?” and, “Why did you come to the emergency? You should have gone to your gp, as the emergency service is for cases like broken bones or heart issues.” I explained that I had already seen my gp two weeks ago, was prescribed antibiotics, and that the pain had worsened since last night. I was particularly concerned, knowing that I have a hernia and fearing a possible complication. I reassured her that I wouldn’t have come if I didn’t feel it was necessary. Her comments made me feel as though my presence was unwelcome, and as if I was wasting their time. She recorded my blood pressure, which was around 155/98. I waited in the waiting area, but I felt uncomfortable and feared that other staff might also judge me for seeking help, so I ultimately decided to leave, even though I began experiencing a headache. I am still in pain but feel reluctant to return to the emergency department at this hospital.

  3. Review titled Amazing service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I want to give a massive thank you to the breast clinic department. As I was there supporting my partner, I witnessed a huge turnout of people with appointments, whilst they did their best to manage the department alongside experiencing up to 30 minute delays. To the doctors that saw to my partner so well when she experienced so much upset and anxiety, i want to say thank you. There was someone in particular, an assistant that really stood out for me and who I must praise and have so much gratitude for. A tremendously caring, supportive person who quite literally mothered my partner when she needed it most. She held her hand, she spoke to her softly to help distract her from the minor surgery. She wiped her tears with a tissue and gave her a hug and i found this service from her just amazing! Thank you so so much. I am unable to include the name of this Lady, but please can this be acknowledged by the breast department. She knows who she is

Had to take myself off to A & E on a Tuesday evening due to a minor accident at home. Staff were very welcoming and professional, I was seen very quickly.

I went into the Emergency Care Unit at 4am with what turned to be a rather painful kidney stones attack. I was assessed quickly and received diagnoses (including CT scan) almost immediately. Nurses, doctors and other personal were caring, attentive and professional for all my stay there.

From the time of arrival A&E to being seen very satisfied with timing. Receptionist to Nurses and Doctors (being seen by various departments staffs) professional and courteous. Kept informed on each test being done. Very satisfied with treatment I received.

  7. Review titled Excellent Service

I had a very thorough investigation by the Rheumatology consultant for over half an hour. Detailed, thorough, concerned. She then ordered x-rays, blood tests and drugs from the Pharmacy. The x-rays and blood tests were done there and then and whilst the drugs were ordered from the Pharmacy I am very allergic to a wide range of medications. The Pharmacist was outstanding because she has been investigating alternatives drugs that I could take which will not trigger my allergies.

  8. Review titled Efficient and Excellent Service

I was in A/E the other week, the wait was almost 7 hours to see a doctor. But the technician D a young boy, who did my bloods was reassuring that even with the wait they will do all they can before a doctor sees me. He was very respectful and calm and even with my fears of needle he was excellent with my bloods. He also called out everyone's name in the waiting room with such enthusiasm, really showed he cared about his patients and put a smile on my face and others he saw. He deserves a pat on the back

  9. Review titled Hopeless - avoid at all costs

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was brought here by ambulance, so there is no doubt about the seriousness of my problem. I was bleeding and in pain. Despite this, I was kept waiting over 2 hours. The triage nurse sent me for an X-ray, but when I was eventually seen by the nurse - not even a doctor! - for treatment, she didn't even know that I had had the X-ray. The staff are incompetent and uncaring. There is no proper priority given to urgent cases. This unit is a disgrace.

  10. Review titled The most amazing midwife/nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hanna - Posted on 30 July 2024

I attended the Queen Mary Maternity Unit for my gestational diabetes test at 8:45. The lovely lady that dealt with was so polite and kind. I explained I had hypermesis gravidarium and was worried the glucose drink wouldn't stay down. She told me not to worry. I had the drink and blood test and unfortunately at around 10 minutes left before the 2 hour was finished for the next blood test I became very unwell and feeling sick. I attempted to go outside to get fresh air but unfortunately felt faint sat down near the stairs and vommitted all over my clothes. My husband went upstairs to explain to the nurse/midwife and she was so kind. She came downstairs and helped me and really showed me compassion. I will never forget how much she helped me and I'm gutted that I did not take her name because she deserves so much praise. She had short blondish hair and was working in glucose tolerance test on 30th July 2024 from 0845 until 1100 when I left. I really hope this message finds her as it's so rare to find such a caring and compassionate staff member who went above and beyond to help me. Thank you so much for everything.
