  1. Review titled Unable to contact hospital via telephone

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Valerie Marsden - Posted on 27 July 2022

No complaints about medical treatment but your switchboard service is non-existent, have tried for two days to get through to Poplar Ward where my son is but cannot get a reply from your switchboard operators. Unacceptable service considering visitors are not allowed at all we should at the very least be able to speak to the ward staff about a relative’s progress and needs. Absolutely dismayed at the hospital’s inability to provide the most basic of services or communication!!

  2. Review titled Appalling service for 3 year old

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Faz - Posted on 21 July 2022

I’ve just spent five hours at the A&E at Whipps cross. My 3 year old son has been in agony, holding onto his ear and complaining of ear pain. He’s not been able to sleep instead crying continuously in agony. We took him to A&E and the queue times for the initial assessment took over 2 hours. Which was impossible holding onto a crying 3 year old in agony. My son was continuously crying with a room full of people and a queue that just was not seen to. Too many members of staff at the desks just seemed occupied on their screens and looking at folders instead of calling up patients. The waiting time at reception was unacceptable. We finally got called and a lady of colour at reception failed to make any eye contact, was so rude and inconsiderate. My son was crying in agony and she simply responded by saying a ear infection doesn’t seem serious enough for him to be taken to the childrens section. I was absolutely disgusted with her lack of care and compassion, her attitude was disgusting. How can the NHS employ staff like her. The boy was crying so loudly and clutching onto the side of his head and she failed to show any compassion. I was absolutely disgusted. We were then sent to another lady (white) on reception who was supposed to give him medicine to help him whilst we continue to wait in the general waiting area. But she was worse than the first, again extremely rude, showed no consideration towards a child crying his eyes out and screaming in pain. I’m disgusted with the service we received we ended up leaving as we were told to just wait in the general waiting area. The staff members we encountered should not be employed and are in no way suitable for the roles.

  3. Review titled Awful service

Rated 1 star out of 5

i took my 16 yr old who had a head injury to a+e weren’t told which counter to go to so ended up waiting behind people who came in after us when we worked out ourselves where we needed to be, we were told the nurse would see us soon to triage - 4 and a half hours later we were still waiting for the nurse and were told that the wait for the dr is nearly 7 hours ! i complained to the reception who said knock for nurses room and someone will be out and i knocked 4 times and no one came out. i know it’s busy but this is not what i pay my taxes for to be treated like this the one time your child needs the hospital. awful wait times and awful service.

  4. Review titled Great service at EGU at whipps cross

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by MRS T Giles - Posted on 22 July 2022

I visited the women’s health centre emergency gynaecology unit in July 2022 for an hysteroscopy and I was very nervous. The team made me at ease and played relaxing music. They explained my options if I found the procedure too painful. I felt relaxed and the procedure was a success. The unit was spotless and well equipped. I hope this review will help anymore worried women. Well done to the team.
