  1. Review titled Emergency Eye Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Richard - Posted on 18 January 2023

I attended the Urgent Eye Clinic on 8th Jan. Was seen by the duty Ophthalmologist who despite his workload could not have been more thorough or helpful. After a detailed examination and discussion he arranged for me to see a specialist VitreoRetinal consultant. I received a phone call from an efficient and helpful administrator early the next day and was offered a choice of appointment times both within 10 days. I duly attended and was again treated with respect and professionalism. I would like to thank the department and the hospital for their care and dedication.

  2. Review titled Smoking outside entrance

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Jackie Stiles - Posted on 25 January 2023

10.45 just been for a foot x-ray. Encountered at least 10 people smoking or vapping blocking entrance to main building on leaving. I had to walk on the cobbles to avoid them as not wishing to walk through them. This did not help my painful foot.

I'm sorry you had this experience at your recent visit to William Harvey Hospital. I will pass on your comments to the site manager. Whilst there are prominent signs stating the hospital is a non-smoking site, unfortunately this does not deter a minority of people. Best wishes

  3. Review titled Fantastic NHS as usual

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Karen Day - Posted on 15 January 2023

I honestly can't thank the NHS for all their fantastic service during my 62 years, including during the pandemic. I've been there today for a tongue biopsy at 10.30 and was out by 11 and looked after by the most fantastic staff. Even this appointment was as a result to the NHS dentist who said I had a lump on my tongue in December 2022. I got an appointment before Christmas to check it out and a biopsy done by mid January. How on earth people keep saying they wait ages for an appointment is rubbish imo and how can anyone ask for more than I've just described. The NHS staff and service is not a problem but perhaps its senior management. Support the NHS, they save our lives and risked their own during the pandemic. Please praise them more often as they deserve it.

  4. Review titled Only two doctors

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Claire - Posted on 02 January 2023

Took my son to William Harvey a and e after going to urgent care Canterbury to be told he needs a chest X-ray and bloods running. 3 1/2 in still no blood taken or chest X-ray told wait would be 7 hours to see a doctor as only two doctors on and one nurse running blood tests. Son decided to leave as felt too Ill to be sitting waiting at one point on the floor as no where to sit. This is meant to be a major a and e

I'm sorry to hear about your son's recent experience at William Harvey Hospital Emergency Department (ED). If you would like us to look into what happened, including whether the delays were due to the volume of patients and how seriously unwell other patients waiting were, and whether your son was appropriately triaged, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on tel: 01227 783145 or email: ekh-tr.pals@nhs.net. PALS are open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm, except bank holidays. If you phone and get the voicemail please leave a message and the team will get back to you.

  5. Review titled Amazing Support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Emily - Posted on 24 January 2023

My partner and I went in to be induced and resulted in a c-section. We then underwent some complications, but the entire department were calm and collected and incredibly supportive to both myself and my partner during this difficult and scary time. During our stay on both wards we were continually supported by the midwife’s and nurses, with staff also coming to find us again during their next shift to check in on us. All incredibly caring and supportive, constantly on hand to take the time to explain things to us. Could not praise these departments enough!

  7. Review titled Visit to accident and emergency

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 January 2023

Visited after my father fell in the street and had a head/facial injury that reached bone. Treatment was excellent and much more prompt than expected. 2 ecgs, examination by doctor and stitched by the expert maxilo facial doctor. Advice given in aftercare. My father is a nervous patient who avoids doctors and had never had any hospital treatment before and he was very impressed with doctors and much relieved that all went well. In an ideal world we would have liked for him to be treated quicker but we understand the pressures on the NHS and it's amazing and dedicated staff. Thank you.

  10. Review titled NHS at its best

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Keith Leverington - Posted on 23 January 2023

I attended A&E with a possible recurrence of brain haemorrhage. I spent 1/2 hour in A&E then taken to Resuscitation. I was cared for in a highly professional way. The ward was modern and spotlessly clean. All medical staff in this department, CT scanning and x-ray were excellent. I was treated as though I was royalty. Because I was experiencing visual disturbance, I was thoroughly examined by the duty ophthalmologist as well. The medical registrar in Resusc in particular kept me informed and explained everything to me in clear language. This has been a huge improvement on some of my previous visits which were very much below the standard anyone would expect. Top marks to all the staff I encountered and very many thanks.
