  1. Review titled Very professional care!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Christine Pytel - Posted on 18 July 2024

A big shout out to the aca zone a, Worthing Hospital doctors and team for my amazing care! On 8th July after I returned from a holiday in Tanzania, I was displaying some worrying symptoms. My gp sent me straight to aca where they were waiting for me. I was immediately hooked up for blood tests, ecg, x-rays etc and was monitored all day. I was allowed to go home in the evening with relevant medication but they arranged for me to return after 3 days for more tests and review. Yesterday I received a phone call from one of the doctors bringing me up to date with all the results and to check my progress. He said he would call me next week to check on me again and review my condition. I couldn’t ask for better treatment than that - the doctors, the nursing staff and all concerned were absolutely wonderful and it’s given me great comfort knowing they had my back. Thank you all so much, I’m very grateful!

  3. Review titled Lack of Compassion

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Paul Cassidy - Posted on 28 June 2024

I injured my foot and it became very painful to walk on, went to accident and Emergency and was left to wait for 7 hours before being told that staffing hours had dropped to night time levels and it would be another 7-8 hours from that point to see a doctor, I signed out and went home so that I could return tomorrow and wait another 6 hours without treatment, I had to leave again as this time could not skip another work day. All I needed was a pair of crutches so that I could have some of my mobility back to complete day to day tasks as I live alone, receptionist said these must be prescribed by a doctor who by the looks of things I would have to wait 15 hours to see. I went to a GP at Selden Medical Centre who referred me to radiology for an xray, she also said she didn't have the ability to prescribe crutches. Arrived back at Worthing hospital to have my xray, they also wouldn't give me crutches and said I would have to return to A&E to get them... I was shown a lack of compassion and treated as if my mobility, recovery and quality of life was simply nobodies concern.

  4. Review titled Brilliant diagnostics and compassion

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 July 2024

I was in a lot of pain and the team took great care to explore the source of this including blood test, physical examinations, ECG, chest x ray, drips and finally CT scan. My description of symptoms was carefully listened to and a surgical doctor pursued a diagnosis and basically saved my life. A really invasive procedure was managed by including me, giving me time and space and letting me control how this was done. This was at the weekend on a busy evening.

  5. Review titled Exemplary Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Carolyn Jane Law - Posted on 14 June 2024

I was admitted to a Cardiac Ward 4 June `24 and on admission was informed of the other patients` names - a very nice gesture. The day and night staff were absolutely marvellous - so kind, caring and helpful - I cannot praise them highly enough. People are very quick to critizise hospital food but I found this to be excellent - with a very varied selection of meals catering for patients` special needs. How very lucky I feel we are to have the excellent services that I experienced during my short stay in Worthing Hospital. Prior to being admitted to the ward - I came in as an emergency by ambulance to A+E - my comments merit the same praise as stated above. Yes, there is a waiting period for various procedures but at all times I did not feel `abandoned` in any way whatsoever. I felt it was very important to be able to put my review on paper.

My father had to attend the dept today and was treated unbelievably well. He suffers with dementia and all the staff made him feel comfortable, calm and normal. Everyone was brilliant. Extremely supportive, sympathetic and reassuring. Highly recommend this team.

  7. Review titled Beyond completely useless and that's still too generous

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sylvie Kralova - Posted on 20 May 2024

Arrive with high possibility of broken ankle, was seen by nurse and had x-ray in first 20 min, well done! Waiting for doctor for 4 hours in agony in rammed waiting room with no air and no space, told it will be another 4 hours to see a doctor, decide to self discharge, only to be told I was already discharged while hadn't left the waiting to even go for the toilet! This is disgracefully disgusting and I feel I was discriminated as I was foreign of darker colour and gay. At least they are not discriminating against the injuries as last time I had concusion and was treated very simalary. Beginning to think I am paying national insurance for nothing!!

  8. Review titled Maxillo-Facial Unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andrew North - Posted on 10 May 2024

I have nothing but praise for this department ever since I had a shell fitted over my blind left eye in 2012 for aesthetic reasons. Today (10th May 2024) I visited the unit so that the shell which lay crooked in my eye could be straightened and the two nurses took great pains to carry out this tricky operation without causing any discomfort. I certainly couldn't have done this on my own so many thanks to them both.

  9. Review titled Thank you, A&E Dept

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 May 2024

I just wanted to say thank you to all the amazing Doctors and Nurses who helped me yesterday when I collapsed near the entrance of the hospital following an earlier gynae procedure. You were all so swift in reaching me and helping me and you treated me with such kindness and care. Thank you also to the wonderful Doctor who wheeled me around to the A&E Department and treated me afterwards, and to the other Nurses and Doctors there, again you all showed such care and reassured me after what was quite a frightening episode for me. You’re all amazing and I appreciate everything you do.

  10. Review titled Exceptional A & E Department, even on a Sunday.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Gareth Bell - Posted on 14 May 2024

I had been having symptoms on and off for a month and was going to wait and try and contact my GP Surgery on the Monday. However, my symptoms got worse on the Sunday so I got a taxi to A & E. I was triaged within 5 minutes, had an ECG and bloods taken within 30 minutes. All staff were very caring, empathetic, highly efficient and reassuring. A & E were very thorough as they repeated my ECG and blood test to check for any abnormalities that may have developed over 2-3 hours. I was fully informed by all staff at all times. The Doctor was also exceptional and very comprehensive in assessment. I also had a chest X-ray to rule out other issues. In short, the A & E Department is amazing. You can see that all staff communicate effectively with each other, keep me as the patient informed at all times, are very caring, highly efficient, understanding, detailed, comprehensive, exceptional communicators. I give Worthing A & E 10 out of 10. They are all amazing at what they do, even on a Sunday.
