  1. Review titled Terrible place full of terrible planning and orientation

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Aaron wilson - Posted on 24 October 2024

I broke my hand and from the first instance of A&E up until and after surgery the treatment is shocking , inadequate cast at first with no actual evidence to say they would book me a appointment at fracture clinic Then said that they had and only told me a day before the appointment that I had one when I was in Scotland , they then cancelled my treatment as I couldn’t make it back from another country with a days notice (15hours to be exact) I then made sure I was seen and at which they said it was even more damaged so was told within two weeks I would have surgery it was until 3 weeks later they said I would be in from either/any that day (Thursday) until Wednesday following . They then never called up until two weeks after that Thursday and said I was in the following week (Thursday) at 730 am , I got there and wasn’t allowed any food or water it’s currently 9am and I was the first here and last to be seen still haven’t been seen all though every single person after me has been seen . The nhs system and service is a shocking and unjust facility I am shocked to have to pay tax for this and will be going private after this and certainly would never want anyone to go through what I did as I’ve missed work for almost 4 months because of this injury missing out on up to £10,000 in wages of what I could’ve done . Just as I finished that sentence I have only just been admitted after 1.5 hours of being here and I’ve been told I will have to wait until mabye the evening bare in mind that’s 4pm so why does the service insist I get here at 730 but not even get operated on for mabye another 8.5 hours The nhs is not a ideal or practical service considering all the money that’s put into it despite government acting as if they’re isn’t multi billions are made of income tax on it’s alone and everything you buy or sell in this country is taxed to so where does it all go , definitely not the healthcare service they promote that it’s all going to .

  3. Review titled Bad Experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lee - Posted on 19 September 2024

I was in agony with upper-abdominal/chest pains last night which were worsening and I could not get comfortable. I referred to the Nhs website 111 for advice. The site stated that if experiencing chest pains, to call 999 instead of filling in the form, which I did. I explained on the phone that it could be a muscle strain due to a workout that morning, but that it didn't feel like a muscle problem. I'd never felt a pain like that before. My breathing was laboured and I was quite worried. The ambulance staff were sarcastic in asking if it was my mother's idea to call 999 when I was only following what the site had told me. Whilst being seen at the hospital, a nurse was very rude and unsympathetic. Even pinching my skin on purpose while doing my Ecg. I was made to feel like I was wasting their time, when in fact that was the last thing I was doing. I have better things to do with my only day off than sit in a&e all night. I was told by the ambulance staff that the doctor would check my bloods to see if it had anything to do with my heart, but when I asked the nurse about this, I received a very rude and curt answer stating that I was in a queue and would be seen when the doctor became available. When you don't feel very well and are putting your wellbeing in others' hands, the last thing you need is sarcasm and the feeling that you are simply getting in the way. I discharged myself to get away from the negative energy. If you do a care job, then the first port of call is to actually care. Very disappointed indeed.

  7. Review titled Painful uterine biopsy

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 September 2024

I went for a gynaecologist app in aug re pain I have been having in my groin and abdomen. I was asked to consent to a biopsy there and then or that weeks waiting. The dr said it would be mostly painless with a slight cramping. As a mother of 5 children I have never experienced something so painful as the shock of a piece of my insides which are already sore and swollen being cut out. I had to get him to stop so I could catch my breath through my tears. I thought I was going to throw up. The dr then told me the pain would only stop once I slowed him to remove the tool and the sample. I couldn’t stop crying and shaking for the whole day. I felt so shocked and traumatised. Before I could even open my eyes and with the nurse fanning my face to cool me off the dr had left the room and I didn’t see him again. I felt like the lack of information I was given with regards to how painful this procedure can possibly be for some women is disgusting. I would still have gone through with the biopsy as it is an important step in diagnosing cancer. However I would have felt better not having been told it was basically painless. If I ever have to have another biopsy it will not be without pain relief and I will advice every woman I know to do the same.

  8. Review titled Professional, caring and responsive

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Croxson - Posted on 26 September 2024

I have had reason to use the services of the excellent urology team both as an initial referral whilst in A&E and subsequently to provide me with advice and later fitting of a new catheter. Each member of the team without fail has been a pleasure to meet and deal with. They are all very caring, empathetic, and totally committed from what I have experienced to get me comfortable and pain free as quickly as possible.

  10. Review titled Fantastic and caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Susan R - Posted on 28 September 2024

My elderly father was taken to A&E with a broken hip. The doctors were fantastic, got him x-rayed then gave him a nerve block. He has had surgery, was very confused after, but is slowly finding himself again. The care he has received is second to none. Explanations are given to him and us as to care and decisions. I can see the NHS is under stress, but despite all of that, he has been comfortable, respected and cared for with sensitivity. Well done Worthing Hospital, A&E and, at the moment, ward D3!
