  2. Review titled Fantastic Care as a day patient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went to the hospital to have injections for constant pain in my Pelvis (Bilateral Sacroiliac joint injections). Although I'm allergic to steroid, I couldn't have the full procedure I did have some of it. I had explained to staff my hearing aids had gone in for repair because I couldn't hear at first. The staff on the before & after wards and in theatre were fantastic, very attentive also explained everything to me so it was easy for me to understand and alleviated my worries. I must admit I was a bit upset when I got there and had to wear a gown. (I've already had these injections twice before and never had to wear a gown for the injections, I was in civvies throughout procedures) It was explained to me in theatre, I may not get the full outcome I wanted especially without the steroid. Just want to say a big thank you all

  3. Review titled First class care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Recently had a kidney operation at Wycombe Hospital. Every single member of staff were caring, courteous and went out of their way to get me through this and back home. At the age of 70 this was my first ever stay in hospital and first ever anaesthetic or operation but everyone made sure I was kept informed at every stage and the care was exceptional.

  4. Review titled Thank you Audiology Dept

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret Amos - Posted on 23 February 2023

I have a severe hearing loss which is probably more complicated to assist with hearing aids. The hospital's Audiology Department has always tried to do their very best for me, taking time to get things as good as they can be, because at 75, I am still out and about and need to hear well. So thank you very much to all the staff in the Department. Margaret Amos

  5. Review titled Care & Support Received

    by Pat48 - Posted on 01 March 2023

I had a colonoscopy recently and was obviously nervous about the procedure. All of the staff I met introduced themselves by name and went out of their way to comfort and reassure me. During the procedure they were caring and sensitive to any discomfort and did their best to keep this to an absolute minimum. It would be unfair to single out any one of them for particular praise as they all deserve my special thanks. It is often said and well deservedly, these amazing dedicated professionals are angels. They deserve our utmost respect and should be rewarded accordingly.

  6. Review titled Outstanding service and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Josephine Wellesley-Colley - Posted on 18 January 2023

From admission to discharge I was given the greatest care and attention. Nothing was too much trouble for the nurses or ward staff. Nurses and doctors listened to me, explained what was happening at every stage and discussed with me my ongoing treatment and care plan. Instead of giving me tablets to mask my condition they were/are determined to get to the root cause of my condition . I have been referred to an out patients clinic that I was completely unaware existed and will need further exploratory procedures to ascertain what causes the issue I have. I only have two minor issues to ask the doctors please to use everyday common language and terminology ( which I don’t need to google) and whilst the food has improved to sone extent please please differ the menu for cardiac and stroke patients. Tinned potatoes, Butter with rolls and bread, stodgy desserts with custard, fish swimming in sauce made with butter and cream, pot rice pudding and high sugar desserts and yoghurts are not really appropriate foods for these patients. Especially when I get read the riot act to reduce my cholesterol and weight. Other than that thank you to everyone. Great job in very trying times.

From the moment of my arrival for my procedure, to my discharge from the hospital, I received a professional caring service from my consultant, theatre staff and ward staff. I was made to feel safe and confident in my treatment at all times.

  9. Review titled Top class service and staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended audiology to be assessed for hearing aids this morning. I was treated wonderfully and as there was an afternoon cancellation I was offered the time slot to complete the issue of the aids. I duly attended the department and the Doctor had asked was a happy to be looked after by a Trainee/Student audiologist. Of course. Both were incredibly professional. For anyone contemplating hearing aids don't go private, the NHS offer a better service and cost base. I am over the moon with my new "Bluetooth" hearing aids. Thank you so very much, Wycombe NHS .

  10. Review titled My 96 year old mothers experience at Stoke Mandeville on being admitted by ambulance

by Anne of High Wycombe - Posted on 13 January 2023

My mother fractured her right wrist recently and was admitted to hospital A&E. Long wait in corridor with many other patients. Ambulance crew asked why we called an ambulance. We went through 111, it was them that directed the ambulance to us. We would have taken my mother to hospital if we possibly could have but she is very immobile, was in pain and is 96 years old. Ambulance was called at 6pm and arrived at 7am the following morning. Checks made, bloods, ECG, x-rays etc. and eventually a plaster put on her wrist. Taken home by Age UK, excellent service. Overall treatment good and well done to all the nursing staff, Dr's, and helpers. Had to call 999 as Mother had more pain two days after being discharged. Next ambulance crew detected problem with Mum's heart, back to Stoke A&E. Waiting in corridor again, ECG, x-ray, bloods, and drip. Discharged the following day. Taken home by Age UK. Again well done to staff working under pressure and difficult times. So sad to see so many poorly people having to wait, mostly elderly and without anyone with them. Back to Stoke on Tuesday for a follow up appointment for heart. Taken by patient transport to Stoke. Turned up on time and dropped at clinic. Transport booked by Stoke. More, bloods, ECG etc. and new medication for AF prescribed. Had to wait 3 hours for transport home. Disappointing as Dr and Nurses worked very hard to get Mother ready for 12.30 when transport said they would be back to collect us. Following day, Mother had an appointment with Trauma and Orthopaedic Clinic at Wycombe hospital. Transport had been booked 2 days before appointment as requested with wheelchair and 2 persons to help. One crew member arrived and said she couldn't take Mother. Therefore, unable to attend the clinic. Very disappointing indeed as we had done everything to get Mother to Wycombe. The web site for Patient Transport needs to be greatly improved and made more user friendly. Outcome, we now have to wait until later January for the next appointment at Wycombe. Plaster should only have been on for 1 week, therefore in our opinion is the plaster medically fit to be on Mother? Is it helping the fracture to heal? Thank you to all the staff at Stoke Mandeville who work so hard to deal with all the patients coming into A&E. We appreciate your efforts.
