    This is a review of the Huntingdon change, grow, live. I have alcohol issues as well as other mental health issues I'm also seeking treatment for. I contacted.them regarding my alcohol use as I tend to binge and self medicate with alcohol I always have done. The GP police and mental health services all recommend I contact them. The first meeting was fine and I was very optimistic looking forward to it. I was assigned a worker and had an appointment to meet them as I explained my situation she started telling me I have lots of issues alcohol is the least of my worries and she don't know how to help me. She questioned the validity of me being there asking why I was there is it because people have told me to come or because I want to. She was telling me people usually come who only have issues with alcohol and I've obviously got a lot wrong with me I was left extremely upset. I left with no help I couldn't understand why I was treated like that when the person I saw before was supportive. I emailed them after because I felt so awful and I wanted to tell them if my experience and could I please have a different worker who understands it's common connection between mental health and alcohol addiction. I got a reply saying some team leader would call me but nobody did. I can't recommend this service as I was left feeling let down and as if I should not have asked for help. I actually went and bought alcohol that evening because I felt so bad.

    i was treated appallingly , belittled, laughed at. not helped at all, waste of time going there, there full of very false promises , they really deep down dont care , there fibbers, and you get belittled by them. stay well clear of these people and system , you,d be better off keeping away from them .

    Attending Manchester Service and have been for 2 years, never consistent staff, always off sick. No one answers the phones. It is impossible to get in contact with my keyworker. If it wasn't for the fact that I have to detox or I'd be at risk of seizures and/or death I'd never have gone back and just stuck with meetings. Feel completely unheard, the other services besides the keyworker that are meant to reintegrate you into the community are useless and the worker I spoke to was completely belittling with no understanding of extreme mental health issues that have long stood before my substance use and are resurfacing majorly now I am nearly complete with my detox. I can't wait to be rid of them and never return, it is the complete motivation to stay clean is to never speak to or deal with these people again or have to sit through another useless group again that treats you like a toddler. I have never had grief, circumstance or any element of help followed through on and my keyworker hasn't turned up to multiple appointments, sometimes my hour slots have been 15mins when it takes longer to even get there. Absolute poor show.

    I've been a service user for many years. I've been doing a detox off of my prescription in the community and have been struggling. I've been desperately trying to contact my worker for almost 2 weeks on the work phone and leaving messages at cgl ashton office to be completely ignored! Absolutely disgusting that during the most crucial part of the recovery journey the support is nowhere to be seen and to blatantly ignore someone asking for help. This type of conduct could result in a relapse or even death for some individuals. It really isn't good enough and I hope that the CQC will investigate this misconduct.

    They do not off any help whatsoever. The initial meeting with my worker was OK vut after that I haven't heard a single thing from them in 4 moths. I've chased it up by phoning them multiple times and everytime they say someone will be in touch but no one ever does. I don't know how they can just leave someone with absolutely no help or communication after they've taken the steps to reach out and try and get help. I've ended up paying for private treatment which costs a fortune, so I'm paying twice once in my taxes for this none existent services and then again privately.

    I have had many bad experiences .To give you a specific one last week .I told my keyworker that I was dealing with death of lifelong best friend & also anniversary of Parents passing .All I got was no words except just get on with it & asked questions about alcohol cocaine which I haven’t used for over 30 years..I can not believe that there is no interaction or care just box ticking exercise .If you complain they make life difficult .Ive worked in services have many friends who work in CGL & over services .They agree it has turned into a punitive way of treating people .5 keyworkers only seen 2 for few mins.Hold script so you turn up for appt which is so unprofessional.I do not trust this service as all promises have been broken .I was told that I hadn’t been CGL since August 2023 when in fact I spent 7 appts in December 2023 ..Worker then admitted looking at wrong person on CRIIS ..

  7. Review titled I see a future for my son

    Today is a day I only dreamt of really had lost all hope ...my son went to detox ...after years of addiction...to see him Rock bottom many times watching him nearly die....and unable to stop him help him. Many times he said he wanted to get clean but each time we nearly got him to treatment he went AWOL ...he's addiction not only wrecked his life but also mine as a mum to watch him a broken man homeless on the streets and unable to stop him wasting away......but today is massive not only for him but for me ... CGL never gave up on him and worked tirelessly to help him they went above and beyond and I truly believe they have saved his life and supported me and saved my sanity. The team at cgl gave me hope when I'd really thought my son was lost forever to addiction.. today I see a future for my son and and my heart feels so much lighter I can't thank all at CGL who went above and beyond for my son and me.

    The staff was great, it was very xmassy, the food put out for us was lovely. Looking forward to the quiz, also just heard there will be a xmas hamper, that's great at such a hard time of year.

    I attended the xmas open day. Previously attended one session on a Wednesday evening. So my experience is limited. But the staff is lovely and the environment is very welcoming.
