Visited the clinic today for a YAG Laser Capsulotomy. I found all the staff, including the minibus driver, very pleasant and helpful. As I live in area with very little public transport, the provision of a minibus service for appointments involving eye dilation is very helpful. Many thanks, John Buxton

I have previously left a review after my first clinical appointment which went very well and my operation was booked for the 14th of February. I was told to stay off my blood thinners on the day of the operation and turn up at 15:10. I was a little nervous but looking forward to getting my eyelid operation and getting it back to normal. When I turned up for the operation I was told that I'd be seen right away. I was seen quickly but to my surprise I was told that they couldn't do my operation on my eyelid as their theatre didn't have the necessary equipment and I'd have to be referred to a main hospital for my operation. This was a shock as I'd been seen a week before by a doctor who saw me in an room adjacent to the one that I was in and they were both right next to the operating theatre! I had no option but to accept what was happening and went home after checking that they would make the referral. A week or so later I received a letter asking me to book an appointment at CHEC. I rang them and they said that the letter was a mistake and they were having problems with their communications. They said that I should now contact my local NHS Referral Centre and gave me their number. I rang the referral centre who told me that they had nothing on file for me since the middle of January i.e. before my visits to CHEC. I rang CHEC again and after explaining what had happened my contact said that he could now see the problem - CHEC had sent my current file to their archive rather than forward it to the NHS Referral Centre. He promised he would fix this and send my referral off immediately. I've now been contacted by the NHS and have a clinic appointment for July at Royal Preston Hospital. CHEC really don't seem to know what they are doing. They don't seem to know what they can and cannot do within their clinic and their communications and patient recording systems are awful. My operation was effectively archived with my form and if I hadn't got another erroneous letter from CHEC and followed this up with them I'd never have had my operation progressed. They seem to be a waste of our NHS funding!

This was my first visit to CHEC in Preston. It is local and always looks busy when we pass. My appointment was 10:30 and I'd had my consultation and had my appointment for my operation confirmed by the time I left at 10.37. The consultant was very efficient in examining my eyes and reviewing my medical history and was clear and informative. This is how the NHS should operate!

The whole process from booking the appointment - arriving at reception and being greeted - seeing the consultant - was seamless. I was even called to re-confirm my appointment the day before. My consultant was polite, efficient, thorough and very thoughtful. He recommended gel and drops and gave a short and precise summary of the diagnosis which is Dry Eyes. No change in condition and was clear about reviewing in 6 Months. The whole appointment was 10 mins. This is my 3rd visit to the Watford practice and I can’t praise them enough - and they’re always very very busy! Thank you 🙏

Mum is 91 years young and attended for her cataract. They showed nothing but kindness and compassion. They were very busy and were unable to sit with her after the operation but made sure she was good before leaving her to wait. They explained things clearly and gave her all the paperwork she needed. Well done to the people at Newcastle CHEC

In January I had cataract surgery on one of my eyes, and was fortunate enough to be able to follow this up in late February with a similar procedure on my other eye. Whilst I am still recovering from the second operation, I cannot believe the amazing difference it has made and cannot thank the staff at Leicester CHEC clinic enough for giving me back my eyesight. The referral process was unbelievably quick and easy, and I was given an initial assessment appointment within a week or so of first contact, at a date and time convenient to me. The service I received at that first appointment and at both subsequent appointments was first class: attentive, kind and professional staff; a pleasant, clean and comfortable environment; easy parking and also great public transport links; excellent discharge procedures with help and support available if I needed to seek advice and support after the operation (which I did, but only a bit). I could not have asked for anything better and I am so grateful to all the staff and to our wonderful NHS.
