    I was appalled by my experience with the eye consultant at my local CHEC service. He would not let me ask questions, saying "can I just finish my sentence", told me that the eye drops for glaucoma dont have any long term effect, and refused to acknowledge any previous diagnosis, saying "that's up to me to decide". I am left not knowing what I do or do not have, and I no longer take the glaucoma drops as a result. I also dread going back.

    I've just wasted a whole day and fuel costs on a hundred mile round trip to the CHEC mobile unit in Carmarthen for a follow up appointment. I made this appointment on the phone and this was confirmed in the post by letter. On arriving for my appointment today, the mobile unit was locked up and deserted. I called the helpline number (having to wait in a long call queue as per all the times I've had to call Chec) and was told that this appointment had been cancelled by them and re-arranged for next week. It might help if they had let their patient know! I'm extremely annoyed about this as both my husband (who had to accompany me in order to drive home) and myself had to take time off work. I was also told someone would phone me back to apologise. Guess what, no one did! Shoddy, disgraceful service

    I find the staff at the Booking Office at Preston very helpful. They are caring, obliging and very knowledgeable, I have spoken to 3 different members of staff today and they are all so caring and helpful. I want you to know I am extremely grateful for all you do and all you have already done.

    I have just returned from a 40 mile round trip for a glaucoma clinic at an NHS premises providing facilities for your company to hold these clinics. There was nobody there to carry out the clinic and the NHS receptionist understood that patients had been informed .I had not and got the impression from the receptionist that I was not the only one. This was annoying on its own but it was in fact a rebooking for an appointment two months previously when exactly the same thing happened .On that occasion two other patients arrived in the hour that I wasted while the blameless and apologetic NHS receptionist tried to contact your company to find out why nobody had arrived and no information had been forthcoming as to what was going on. Having read some of your reviews it seems my experiences are not unusual and someone needs to get a grip on providing the service you claim to and also improve communication with patients and any NHS premises used to provide that service

    On Monday 6th September I had a cataract removed from my right eye at the Coventry clinic. The whole team were wonderul to me and are a total credit to their profession and the NHS. Like most people I was nervous about my operation however, I shouldn't have been. The whole process took a very short space of time and there was no pain or discomfort of any sort. A week on, my eyesight in my right eye has returned and I am truly delighted with the result. Thank you all for allowing me to benefit from your amazing skills. Roy Peace.

    Repeated text messages remind me to book appointment using link. I do not have a smart phone, but I use the link with a computer. The resultant website seems to offer no opportunity to book anything, or to register. The help number says if it is too difficult, wait for a call in a few weeks. This process, far from being 'simple', seems designed to defer or delete referrals.

Our booking app was launched with the aim to provide patients more control over their appointments and to reduce waiting times and is relatively new. Our IT department are in the process of reviewing and updating our bookings app to further improve its functionality and accessibility, we have passed your comments through to them for consideration along with their updates. We can confirm that when patients who have received a booking SMS call our bookings line and select the relevant option, a recorded message is played stating that if you are unable to book your appointment through our app our team will reach out to you within 4 weeks, this allows us to manage our patients expectations regarding when they are likely to be contacted to book their appointment, however this may be sooner. We would like to thank you for providing your review and its constructive nature, as we are always looking for ways to improve our services for our patients. Best wishes CHEC
