Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tomato - Posted on 07 October 2024
After 6 treatment sessions, I feel much more better. Thank you very much to my therapist, she has given me many effective methods. While there may still be emotional ups and downs in the future, I have learnt to deal with them.

Review titled Great service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was treated by for performance anxiety. I really enjoyed my sessions and it led a complete reversal of my anxiety. My therapist listened to my concerns each week and frequently made me challenge my negative thought cycles. I owe my recovery to her.

Review titled Disappointed
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 August 2024
I contacted Croydon Talking Therapies around a month ago to look into getting therapy/counselling as I’m currently going through an intense period of family stress and have a history of anxiety and depression. Keen to receive coping tools, I agreed to a telephone triage where I discussed my situation and how I’m feeling and the help I hope to receive. I was told that I’d be referred for either CBD or counselling which I was feeling positive about but was told I’d be called back within 2 days. It’s been a week now and I’ve not heard anything making me think I won’t now. This has made me feel like my concerns and desire to get help for my mental health isn’t important or worth helping.

Review titled Definitely worth a try
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 September 2024
I have generalised anxiety and had therapy focussing in my social anxiety. During the therapy I was provided with a number of strategies to help in the moment but more importantly I was also guided to understand the cause of my anxiety and to be able to understand the long list of behaviours I had built up to protect myself from things that didn’t really exist. I was never made to feel like my anxieties were trivial in any way and felt very supported throughout. I would highly recommend taking the leap.

Review titled Great practice and great practitioner.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Rebecca - Posted on 03 October 2024
I am extremely grateful that I was able to have my sessions. She was calm and skilled during our sessions and actually wanted to know about how I felt; not just because it is her job. She taught me a lot of useful strategies and techniques I can use to help deal with past experiences as well as future ones. I feel a lot more at ease compared to when I started the sessions. Thanks again for your patience and knowledge.

Review titled Highly recommended
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Meg - Posted on 22 September 2024
I contacted Croydon talking therapies through my GP to help with my Generalised Anxiety. I had 4 sessions and they were extremely helpful. I found that being open and honest and not ashamed to admit I needed counselling was the first step. I am now armed with techniques and things to do should I have a flare up and being able to identify when I need to focus on myself. Thank you!! So many people battle - you are not alone!

Review titled What do you have to lose?
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 July 2024
When not feeling my best I was very resistant to try new things. This was OK and my therapist tailored my sessions to help with this and it really made a difference. When not feeling great trying something like this doesn't usually make things any harder. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay on top of how they are feeling.

Review titled Empowering EMDR therapy.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Andrea - Posted on 09 July 2024
I received EMDR therapy after experiencing a recent trauma that led me to seek help for this and for older traumatic events that I had also experienced. My therapist was very skilled at supporting and preparing me for this therapy and guiding me through the weekly sessions. I am so glad I reached out for help. I have now been able to process old trauma and work with the more recent episode to the point where I am feel empowered and able to move on with my life. Although it was hard at times I felt safe enough to do the work. I would strongly recommend this type of therapy for anyone suffering from traumatic events. I was given time, support and the tools I needed to change. I have also been able to look ahead and learn how to care for myself in the future. Wonderful care, expertise and support.

Review titled Very interesting, enjoyable and helpful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Patrick Ainley - Posted on 22 October 2024
I was not very keen in being 'fobbed off', as I regarded it at first, with CBT instead of a talking therapy but I found that there was a great deal of talking involved and it was therefore very interesting and enjoyable and it helped me to dig myself out of something of a hole I had dug for myself that had made me over-anxious about what is, admittedly, an anxiety-inducing process - that of buying and selling my house in order to live near to my son and his family. The sessions confirmed that this was the right decision to make as I was initially in two minds about it but I also came to see that my ambivalence was linked to my continued mourning for my wife who died three years previously and who is associated in my mind with what was our house. I had hidden this from myself by elaborating rationalisations about my situation that I was able to explore with the therapist whose patience, tact and skill in guiding me through the required exercises and routines was exemplary. I think that she has a natural ability for the role and wish her well in developing it in her future studies and career.
