  1. Review titled Lied to about waiting hours

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 December 2023

I waited from 11:20 to 18:16 to be seen! This was after a 111 referral! I was in so much pain the whole time, this got worse as I was straining the whole time I started having a headache. The receptionists were very rude, it seemed at some point the original morning queue was completely ignored and they only focused on new referral! I am annoyed as I was a referral as well! Terrible terrible service! I asked after 5 hours of waiting as display said 4-5 hours waiting time and I was told one more hour and this went beyond !

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent experience of visiting our service. We do endeavour to make waiting times as short for our patients as we are able, we are, however a service that accepts patients from different sources, the 111 service, other healthcare professionals and patients that walk-in as well as having other clinics running from our rooms. These patients all have varying degrees of need; some will need GPs to go to their homes whilst some will need to be seen ahead of patients that have been waiting due to their clinical need. We are sorry that, on this occasion, your waiting time was longer than we would have hoped for, we welcome all comments so that we can continue to strive to improve the service we deliver.

  2. Review titled Fantastic

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went in on a Friday night. As expected, it was packed and was told it was a 4-5 hour wait. The nurse checking me in took my vitals straight away. After about 45 minutes I was triaged and given a crp finger prick. Back to the waiting room. 30 minutes later I was called back in, diagnosed, and sent on my way. All of the staff seemed busy, but they were polite, friendly and professional. It certainly wasn't where I wanted to be on a Friday night, but I can't fault the team for the care I received. If you have a longer wait than others, just be grateful that you aren't rushed ill enough to be rushed through.

  3. Review titled Helpless

Rated 1 star out of 5

My 2 years old son was having high temperature at 40 degrees but reception insisted us to provide urine sample before a doctors can see him. I understand it might be useful to help determining what caused the high temperature but without a primary check up and just told us to sit there for four hours without any help offered. This is ridiculous and surprised to the people from 111 and doctor I talked with. All the patients are urgently needed help there but receptionists are cruel and blindly following procedure for urine sample which I never experienced anywhere before

  5. Review titled Worth the wait

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 November 2023

After a call to 111 I was told to take my husband to the urgent care. We were very quickly greeted by very friendly member of staff. Name and details and then BP and temperature taken. We then did wait 3 hours but the doctor was excellent, thorough and arranged blood tests and results very quickly. It was very busy and some that arrived after us seemed to be seen before us but assume they need to prioritise. Overall a long wait but excellent service. Thank you

  7. Review titled Excellent service from the staff!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jeannette - Posted on 22 July 2023

I am very happy. The staff, the receptionist who took my pulse and temperature, as well as the nurse for triage and the Doctor were all really nice and patient. I felt I was really well looked after. The doctor kept in touch with my daughter because English isn't my mother tongue. He called her several times, he gave good advice and kept us posted about the results. The queue was short, we only waited for 2 hours. My daughter and I want to thank all the staff for what they have done. We are both very happy and recommend the services! Thank you

  8. Review titled Patient Team Vs Patients With No Patience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tom - Posted on 08 June 2023

I'm eternally grateful that a service such as 111 and the Urgent Care Centre are able to run. It could be the difference in an extra A&E doctor being available to save a life. And I think for the most part, people are finally starting to realise if you can drive yourself to A&E, you're probably going to the wrong place. Unfortunately, UcS has taken a large brunt of this. I see too many people forgetting the resources available before UcS. If Nhs 111 online says the pharmacist can help, go to the pharmacist! If you need the Gp but can't get an appointment, phone 111 and they can refer you to the nearest available service."What do you mean four hours? It's a joke! I have to pick the kids up from school in 20 minutes." It's a 24 hour same day service free of charge. It's going to get busy, especially in peak hours. The staff are not to blame for your poor time management. There are multiple reminders that the service is extremely busy, and provides alternative sources for information and care before being sure that you are entering for care that is urgent. Unless it starts showing signs of infection, an insect bite can definitely be treated with bite creme, ask a pharmacist if you can't find it. When I've been unlucky enough to experience an injury too painful to wait, but not at all life threatening (this case being damage to my eardrum) and 111 were unable to find an alternative appointment, I knew full well bring a charger and a bottle of water, because this was an all day visit. The team in the service were so apologetic and accommodating straight away, and I felt guilty that they felt the need to apologise for helping so many people. And it makes me angry when I see the arguments attempted by those who see themselves as the only priority in the world. I applaud the calm composure displayed by all in the team. Sadly I think this is due to lots of practice. This is the national health service, which means everyone has a right to use it and a duty to not abuse it. Once the Gp had seen me, I was greeted with compassion, genuine concern and a plan of action that went above and beyond. After examining the ear, and acknowledging the pain, they took the time to phone the EnT department and made an urgent OoH referral for that evening, ensuring they knew to greet me at reception at an agreed time. Perfect example of how these services can work together and streamline getting the right people to the right place. 2 days later I even received a follow-up call to check the diagnosis and treatment plan had been set up, how I was feeling, and offering a further follow-up later in the week to ensure my journey was progressing in the right way and a genuine interest in the outcome. I wasn't expecting this call at all, and it's really compelled me to share the positive experience. But reading through the most self centred reviews, I feel it even more important to let the team know we absolutely don't all think this way, your dedication is appreciated. Thank you

  10. Review titled Great staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Lewis - Posted on 05 April 2024

I've had the unfortunate pleasure of having to visit a couple of times now, no one wants to visit because of course that means you are having some sort of issue. Staff are fantastic in my experience, both the staff who you first speak to at the front desk, to the staff you see about your issue. My last visit was about a sensitive issue, didnt really want to talk about it in the open to the front desk so passed my phone over which i had written my issue on. I wish I knew the name of the person who dealt with me but she was really understanding and I could not have asked for better. Theres only so many staff with an endless supply of people walking in so I think you expect to be waiting and seen based the severity (everyone thinks their issue is more urgent than the people around them) Some perspective is needed from people coming here, I'm glad it's here to be used if needed. Thanks for all your hard work!
