One cataract removed in January 2024 and the second in March 2024. An extra check up was needed after the first cataract was removed but went very well.

I have only thanks for the treatment I received and praise to the entire team involved in my recent cataract surgery. My fears were allayed while the operation was in progress, the discomfort only slight and the whole procedure was over in about ten minutes. My recovery has been as predicted and I followed the post operation advice for the best outcome! You have a happy customer here!

From the pre-assessment to surgery, every aspect of my experience was first class. All the staff were pleasant and efficient. The clinic was spotless and I would not hesitate to give the highest recommendation to anyone requiring cataract surgery.

Beware if you have had previous laser eye surgery. I was informed that due to having had previous laser corrective surgery, rather than a standard lens being inserted the follow week, the examination results of my pre op assessment would be sent to 2 consultants for consideration to ensure the best ‘fit’ / curvature for my personalised lens replacement. I was also advised because of previous laser surgery there was a possibility following cataract removal and lens replacement I may not end up with 20/20 vision and I accepted the possibility that my result may not be perfection. During cataract removal, my eye haemorrhaged and I had blurred vision for days after. I decided to phone Spa Medica for advice to see if this was normal and I was given a follow up appointment a couple of days later for review. 6 further weeks of eye drops to reduce swelling I am now 2 months on and left with sight in that eye worse than before the cataract removal. Although I was made aware initially that the result for some people having had previous laser corrective surgery may not be perfect- I hadn’t appreciated it could be a lot worse than before the surgery.

Facilities and staff very welcoming and efficient. Free coffee or tea plus water whilst waiting. Ambience comfortable. Operation successful, theatre staff friendly. The only negative was two stavs of pain during operation. No after effects. Perhaps anesthetic drops did not spread evenly. Will go there for second cataract replacement.

Had my first cataract operation on 15th Jan. Everyone was so helpfull and put me at ease through out the whole procedure. I am well pleased with the result and once I have been given the all clear at my post op assessment I will definately have the second eye done at your place. I will also be recomending you aswell.

I couldn't have been better cared for. Everything that would happen was explained to me beforehand and all my questions were answered. The nursing staff made sure I was comfortable with what was going on and also explained how to look after my eye afterwards. I can now see more clearly and colours are much brighter. Looking forward to when the second eye is done.

My cataract surgery has been very successful in terms of my vision. The hospital at Sayers Common is well laid out and runs efficiently. All the staff with one exception were professional and kind. However my first surgeon was hasty and unsympathetic, haranguing me even while I was still moving into position on the operating table. This had the opposite effect from what I imagine was intended. I am a bit nervous regarding my eyes in any case but ended up spending the whole procedure lying rigid with fear and trying desperately to keep my eyes open under a fierce light. After the surgery I was apparently in floods of tears and it took me 3-4 days to get over the shock. The discharge nurse advised me to ask for a different surgeon for my second eye. I did this. Things went well and I recovered rapidly. One further point: I still undertake considerable work on-line and felt unprepared for the difficulty of soldiering on with significantly changed vision first on one eye and then both. I need a new prescription for glasses for close work as I have an astigmatism, and these are unlikely to be available to me until mid January, although my first surgery was in the last week of October.

All the staff were friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. I was provided with excellent information, treatment & service for both eye surgeries & especially when my right eye developed cystoid macular oedema. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Spa Medica at Sayers Common.
