I had a cataract replaced (the right eye). I had had a cataract replacement operation on my other eye (the left eye) six years ago. The care and attention shown by all the medical and administrative staff was excellent. I greatly appreciated being able to discuss in detail the options for having the same lens as my left eye put in, which would have meant I was long sighted in both eyes, or whether the lens replacement should make my right eye short sighted. (Which it has been for most of my life.) In the end I was given the confidence to select a short sighted lens, which has meant that one eye (the left) is long sighted and the other eye (the right) is short sighted. (Sometimes referred to as Mono Vision.) The final result is almost perfect! The previous operation left me with a prescription (adding sphere and cyl) of just -0.25 on my left eye, and the new operation on my right eye has left me with a prescription of -2.25, which is good for close up reading. So I can now do most day to day tasks without wearing specs, and just use specs to sharpen my vision when driving or using the computer. Thank you very much to the team in Spa Medica!

From the drivers to the surgeon everyone is so helpful, kind, caring, friendly and very professional. I’ve now had both my cataract surgeries, the second one only yesterday and my distance sight is so clear plus I’m using over the counter weak reading glasses for close work. The difference from needing varifocals to now is absolutely amazing and my grateful thanks go to Exeter SpaMedical.

Everyone here are wonderful. Very kind, very considerate, very caring. I cannot fault you in any way. Thank you seems insufficient, but never the less, thank you all for the way you carried out my procedure and for looking after me.

Just had my second eye done, can’t believe how much my sight has improved. I feel like a teenager and I’m seeing colours I haven’t seen for years. Can’t thank them enough.

I have nothing but high praise for all staff and procedures. Having been extremely apprehensive, I was treated with kindness and understanding, and would now have no doubt attending a repeat procedure if necessary. I must also mention the care and consideration of the SpaMedica driver.

I had my second cataract surgery on 2 March 2024 at the Exeter hospital and I can't praise the team there enough. Every nurse that looked after me was so caring and reassuring. From start to finish I had everything explained to me and I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone. The surgeon was kindness itself and I was fortunate enough to have him for both surgeries. I would describe the staff as one big happy family, all working together to give an excellent service. I have my post operative check with them next month and I will be telling them all how much I appreciated their kindness. Kindest regards Maureen Vaughan

I chose SpaMedica in Exeter for my cataract surgery based on several recommendations and despite being an anxious patient, I have nothing but praise for the service provided. The whole experience was dealt with by friendly, welcoming and professional staff who immediately put my mind at rest. Full information and explanation was given at all stages and I was given every opportunity to ask questions and discuss my fears. Everyone was so kind. I will have no worries about returning to have my second eye done and have no hesitation in recommending this Clinic.
