Grateful for the correction surgery but not overfond of being crammed in & having to sit ,facing walls with no distractions, for 4 hours, when operation only takes a few minutes; especially having already spent over 3 hours on previous (assessment) visit….. At my age am well aware of the profit motive involved in filling your clinics to capacity……..

Found all staff friendly, helpful and professional. Surgeon for 1st cataract Nov 6th, really lovely and explained everything really well as he went along. No pain at all after op. Just slight discomfort in evening. Not as impressed with 2nd op. on January 12th. Surgeon not friendly and barely explained anything. Started to swab wrong eye until nurse pointed this out. She said he could do op in 3 mins and raised her eyebrows though added that he was good! Eye was smarting and running as soon as out of theatre and much more discomfort than previous time. Suppose the outcome is the most important thing but this 2nd op did detract from my overall experience there, but cannot fault anybody else. I felt sorry for the people waiting for their 1st op, as they would not have understood what was likely to happen, just being told in a fairly aggressive manner to look at the green square before going in to theatre, so would not have known what it looked like, and told before going into theatre not to move. I said I hoped I wouldn’t sneeze and was told I wouldn’t have time to. The only thing said during the op was that I would feel some pressure. It was only after this, I recalled a lady who was waiting for her 2nd op and having the same surgeon, saying that she was afraid not to forget she had to look at the green square as this had obviously been said to her too, in a rather aggressive manner. I have wondered since if the surgeons get paid per op as couldn’t see the need to do the op that quickly and mistaking until told, he was preparing the wrong eye. Other than that excellent care and attention from everyone else.

The postcode listed on the website takes you to the middle of a housing estate….apparently this is known by the staff so why not remove it or tell people very explicitly to enter the postal address into satnav. We were late and very stressed as a result. Surgical experience was very good

I have just had my second cataract surgery at Spa Medica Kendal , fantastic clinic & Staff. Can’t thank everyone enough for the way they work do. Thankyou Would recommend to anyone.

I was very apprehensive about this cataract operation being sensitive to any contact with my eyes. What helped me was that one nurse rather than just treating me as another patient was friendly and helpful which reduced my stress levels. Another nurses were just business like. The operation was stressful but only lasted 10 mins. It is important to have good painkillers afterwards because my eye felt like it had been punched.

After my recent cataract operation I experienced a sudden severe drop in blood pressure. The response to my condition was immediate and extremely professional . My sincere thanks to all who helped me and the lovely paramedics they called, who were also impressed by the SpaMedica staffs handling of the situation.

Attended for a cataract operation. Given the backlog of operations, of varying kinds, post Covid. This was reminiscent of a very busy production line, nonetheless, the kindness and professionalism by all the staff who attended me, was amazing..An extremely efficient service and their hard work was greatly appreciated. Thank you

I had a cataract removed. The whole process was carried out professionally,with care and kindness. The actual process was totally without discomfort.I cannot thank all enough Thankyou.

I was met by cheerful, competent people, who made my experience most rewarding. Everyone from the doorman to the nurses were extremely pleasant, and the surgeon was brilliant. He paused and asked if everything was OK during the procedure as I was trying not to laugh. The reason was, as I told him, that the red and white lights I experienced made me think of the Northern lights, although everyone assured me that they are predominantly green. Whatever the colour they were wonderful to see! 3 weeks after the cataract surgery my eye is greatly improved, the only problem is the pain in my chest where my diligent wife forcibly kneels on me to apply eye drops. I can’t wait for the next eye to be treated. Thank you all at Spa Medica.
