The Wokingham facility was great, and the staff were wonderful. My elderly parents visited the clinic together to have their first cataract surgery and were very complimentary about the level of care and attention they received. Based on their experience, there are just a couple of recommendations that we would like to propose: 1) When performing the surgery for elderly couples, it might be worth suggesting that they have their procedures done a week or two apart. For elderly couples, when the surgery for both is done on the same day, the process for them self-managing their recovery can be quite challenging if they are both somewhat impaired following the surgery. For example, being able to read the “after-care material”, administering the eye drops, and just generally managing their usual day-to-day routine. 2) For elderly patients I suggest providing them with an option for a large print version of the “after-care material”. In the case of my elderly parents, following the surgery they were unable to easily read the material provided, resulting in them being a little unclear about the processes to follow once at home. Although the staff were very careful to talk them through what they needed to do, it is worth recognising that some elderly people are unable to confidently recall some of this information, which can result in a level of anxiety, exacerbated by the fact that they are already somewhat nervous following the procedure.

best medical treatment that I have received in a long time. the staff were very kind and caring and eased my fears quickly.the atmosphere gave me the confidence that I needed. making the second time round much easier to cope with

The reception team upstairs and downstairs are quite good. The first appointment we waited for two hours and were then told that the consultant hadn’t turned up. The second time took three hours as there were some technical issues. This was all acceptable until the actual day of the surgery. The worst experience was the surgeon who did my cataract procedure. It was as if he was rushing and constantly complaining about how I can’t keep My head straight, complaining to the nurse how much I’m moving, moaning about getting late, putting a cut on the side of my eye for no reason. I have had my other eye done at another place and they had head rest. This was just the head was free and if you can see someone about to poke you in the eye you are bound to flinch a little because of reflexes. Horrible doctor and would not recommend. If they are so over worked that doctors are rushing; major incidents are a likely possibility. The rest of the team are amazing.

Just had my second cataract surgery at SpaMedica, Wokingham. I cannot sing the praises of all the staff enough, from the receptionists, nurses to surgeon. I was treated with humility and compassion from the minute I walked in, and I was put at ease straight away. From initial assessment to final surgery, I was made to feel welcome and valued, they were all so kind. What an amazing group of people they are.

I have just had my second cataract operation here. I was seen on time by the friendly staff. As before, each person introduced herself and explained the procedure. As was to be expected, there is some waiting around while pupils dilate, but tea and coffee are available. I cannot speak too highly of the facilities, treatment and staff.

This is a great place to be treated as all staff from the lady filling the drinks machines to the excellent Surgeon and staff are extremely friendly , helpful and efficient. I was late for my appointment due to heavy traffic and began to panic but I needn’t have as they sorted it all out without any fuss. The attention to detail was excellent all details explained as you went along. Thank you staff at Sparmedical Wokingham .

The staff were friendly and efficient. There was a delay, but only because of a surgeon shortage, I believe, and they apologised.

As an anxious patient I was quite concerned about attending for my cataract surgery. Thankfully my fears were allayed as soon as I arrived at this clean, bright facility. All staff were courteous, friendly, helpful and soon put my fears to rest. The actual surgery procedure was fully explained and I was introduced to each member in the team. There was no discomfort during surgery and this morning everything around me is so bright and vibrant. Cannot recommend this practise and staff more highly and shall certainly have no apprehension about returning for treatment for the second eye. One other thing the speed with which I received my assessment appointment and then had surgery two days later was incredible and took me by surprise. A big thank you to all the team. Thank you Spamedica, cannot recommend you enough.
