    The waiting room displayed clearly which dentists were on duty and by how long (if at all) their appointments were overrunning. I experienced no delay in being seen and did not feel my checkup was at all rushed. The receptionist was most helpful in merging duplicate records which had somehow occurred in my name on the computer admin system.

    Friendly and knowledgeable staff offer good advice, only downside rarely do a scale and polish but encourage a visit to hygienist which is at extra cost which some people will struggle to afford

Although a scale and polish service is included under NHS Band 1, it is only provided if it is clinically required. Sometimes patients do not meet the criteria during their examination. In some cases, the dentist may feel a clean would be beneficial rather than compulsory. This is when they would advise a separate hygiene appointment with our hygienist.     I have nothing but praise for the dentist and hygienist I see at this surgery. But the administration of this practice is dreadful. Keep getting asked for overdue payments despite providing proof of payments. I receive acknowledgment via email that everything is in order - but it is never updated on systems so each time I visit I get asked for overdue payments. Each time I explain situation the receptionist agrees with me when I show proof of payment however it is never updated on systems. This has been going on for months - very frustrating.

    Great dentist gentle and clear with both the kids and me and knowledgable. Have always had good medical service here just not always kind and gentle enough with my autistic daughter. However it is almost impossible to get in touch with this practice. Multiple emails and text messages go unanswered, the online booking system often doesn’t work and no one ever answers the phone, so it is extremely difficult to rearrange and book appointments. Frequently the wrong persons appointment has been cancelled, which is very frustrating as the appointments are difficult to arrange in the first place. They also often don’t send the actual links for the forms they ask you to complete or the links don’t work.

    The in-person experience is good, nice friendly polite staff and doing the best they can. The issue is that I find it almost impossible to get through to them on the phone. This is a longstanding problem and makes getting, cancelling or asking about appointments very difficult. Even emailing seems to get no response. I had to book an appointment online and wait a month for it when I really needed to speak to someone about what I needed.

    The dentist I and my wife are with a very good dentist at Damira dentist @ Headington. She is very professional and on your side. she wants to work with you to improve your dental hygiene and is very skilled in dental repair work i.e extensive fillings

    This practice has never been brilliant since it became Damira, however now it has deteriorated further. It feels like there is more interest in cosmetic procedures (including ones nothing to do with dentistry) than dental health. So, my direct experience is that I was called by the practice as usual before my appointment but instead of cancelling (which is what usually happens) I was invited to come in earlier as the dentist had open spaces. So I did... and then was kept waiting for 35 minutes. I was worried about pain in my teeth and food getting stuck in my molars. The dentist did a quick glance, no inspection at all - then they told me I ground my teeth and needed to avoid chewing for a fortnight and come back for a review after which they would likely make me a guard costing over £200. I double checked that this was actually the end of my check up and they said yes and off I went. I think NHS patients are being sidelined generally as no-one can find a dentist but also specifically by dentists, who are more interested in selling lucrative cosmetic services. Its very sad, what has become of NHS dentistry.

We are very sorry to hear you were unhappy with your experience at our Damira Bury Knowle practice and you felt that you received inadequate service. All staff are made aware of the high-level customer service that Damira aims to deliver, and this will be raised during the next staff training to ensure this does not happen again. We understand that your time is valuable so we would like to apologise for the delay to your appointment, and the inconvenience this may have caused. Unfortunately, appointments may sometimes run behind. This is due to the nature of dentistry. There are times where there may be dental emergencies that have to take priority, or appointments that overrun. We apologise for the inconvenience of our overall rise in prices for appointments and treatments. This is due to the increase of material costs because of the Covid-19 pandemic.     There seems to be a high turnover of staff, all of whom are very competent and friendly. I have been with them for many years and have always received good treatment, text reminders etc.
