  3. Review titled Awful service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My son who has special needs has been on medicine for 3 years possibly longer for a dr to see him once and then stop his medication altogether, even after his learning disability dr advised this is what the child needs. Also for then to be told that the medicine isn’t passed to be used for sleep while my son has been taking it 3 years and it is the only thing that helps him sleep. Said dr also made remarks to about my child’s soother when examining (8year old severe learning disability) absolutely shocking. Still waiting to see if anything can be done in regards to this. So disappointing been with abbey medical my whole life and never once had an issue such a pity when one dr sees a child once and thinks they can determine their needs.

  4. Review titled Not happy

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I saw a doctor who was rude to me and left me feeling humiliated. Patients are supposed to be courteous and polite to medical staff so why can’t patients be treated likewise. I went to see the doctor for help and came away feeling like I was a nuisance.

We recently moved into the area and just wanted to say thank you as the whole process of regstration was super easy, and the friendly welcome given by reception / pharmacy was really lovely - they really went out of their way to help us. Many thanks - it was much appreciated.

  6. Review titled Terrible Service & Policies

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 January 2024

After trying to call for an appointment for three days, I called into the surgery to try and book an appointment directly to be told by the receptionist that I needed to call to book an appointment. After trying for another 3 days and still unable to get through I give up and will instead have to go private to sort out my urgent issue which the receptionist didn't seem to care about. Your system is broken and doesn't work.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our service. I am sorry to read that you were unable to book an appointment. If a patient approaches the reception desk, and we have available appointments to book, it is our protocol to help the patient, not ask them to call as this wouldn't make sense!! Regarding not being able to contact the Practice for 3 days, I would welcome you speak to us to enable us to investigate further. Our phone lines are adequately resourced (but will be impacted in the event of unplanned staff absence) to take calls. We are able to trace telephone numbers to identify any issues that you may have which will help us to look into your complaint. Alexia Tongue Practice Manager

  7. Review titled No communication on test results

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 November 2023

I had to go on line to review my recent blood tests to discover a diagnosis which I was not prepared for or was expected. No one from the surgery called to advise and I was left in distress and worry. When I called for an appointment to discuss the results I was told that this was 'routine' and I would have to wait two weeks. That would have been 4 weeks after the diagnosis which was not acceptable especially as I was very concerned and in distress. The receptionist did manage to get an early appointment for a face to face appointment which I am grateful for. No one should have to go on line to find out things like this and there should have been some communication from the surgery with regards to next steps. If I had not checked would I have ever had that opportunity to discuss and understand the condition? Poor communication which has left me questioning the surgeries duty of care.

  8. Review titled Fantastic, caring practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 November 2023

From the reception / phone staff to the nurses and GP’s this practice is basically how you would wish all practices were. They care, they listen and they believe in looking after you as an individual. GP’s and nurses have excellent interpersonal and clinical skills. On top of that you can get an appointment. My family couldn’t have felt more looked after and supported through some really tough times.

  10. Review titled Long waiting times for all service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2023

To make an appoint there is a long wait, the phone system is good that you can get a call back but by the time you get a call back you get told no appoints left even if you call at 8am or 1:30pm. When you eventually get an appointment to check into appointment there is long queues, years ago there was a screen to walk and check in yourself which was good, now you need to wait long time. Then another long wait for seeing the actual doctor. We need better service to make appointments and better service to check into appointments. Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our service. It is important that we hear on how we can improve the service we provide to our patients. I am sorry that there has been a queue to check in for your appointment. Whilst we did have the computer check-in screens, we found it invaluable "arriving" our patients for their appointments and making sure that there were no outstanding bloods, actions or further appointments to make. We created a separate appointment desk for this purpose in the hope that patients would be checked in sooner. I will speak with the Team Leaders to see if this can be improved. I am sorry that you were not able to make an appointment immediately. We regularly review our demand for appointments and look to provide sufficient capacity. There are days where we are busier than others and our Patient Services Team do refer to our on duty GP for guidance to identify if a patient clinical need is urgent and how we, or another NHS service, can provide assistance/support to our patients.
