    Twice this month, I have put an econsult in and have been referred to the local pharmacy instead for someone to call me. Twice now, the call hasn’t come. Today, I have gone to the pharmacy after not being contacted in the 12 working hours advised and upon my arrival I was told that the pharmacist was on lunch (she was stood right next to me chatting) and to leave my details and they’d get back to. Again, this has not happened! They want you to use the pharmacy to ease appointments in the surgery but you don’t get the call.

    The process of trying to get a doctors appointment is over complicated and it feels like it is designed to delay you speaking to a doctor. To compound this appointments are usually weeks away rather than hours / days which does delay being referred for X-rays stroke further appointments. Although I have no complaint against my GP when I actually speak to them it feels like barriers are put in place to prevent me seeing them. All in all from the moment Beacon Medical took over the running of my local surgery the service provided has spiralled downwards.

    Everything we need to use the surgery or services they create a problem nothing ever goes smoothly. If you have a test for anything you have to wait at least 2 weeks to be put on the system before the doctor even sees the results, then another 2 weeks for a phone call if you are lucky. Results need to be processed quicker but nothing ever get done about it.

    My dog bit me , I went to try and see a nurse or Dr to see if I needed stitches.Told no one could go to Kingsbridge or Cumberland centre. I explained I couldn’t do that as my wife was on her way back from Italy she didn’t have a key. With the size of Ivybridge now and having 2 practices surely one could do minor injuries. I left very unhappy 😡

    Waiting for doctor responses after tests. 5 weeks of no improvement in symptoms and having to chase results and exasperated with lack of feedback.

    I am impressed and grateful for the prompt response to my econsult. I have always received a response the same day and have been seen face to face when required. I believe the econsult service works extremely well in a timely manner. In most cases I receive a phone call from my registered GP who ensures continuity of my care. All other clinicians who have called have also been very professional and helpful.

    I submitted an eConsult regarding medication issues, as usual no actual human contact just text messages and emails promising responses within 24hrs, then further messages saying someone will contact you and they don’t. Difficulties with my medication persist but it is impossible to have an actual conversation.

    I had to make an appointment, but struggled to get time off work. The practice made arrangements for me to have a phone meeting instead, which was appreciated. The staff who facilitated my appt. was very friendly & communication was great. The Doc was very attentive, empathetic and courteous. It’s always a pleasure to interact with this practice and I’d recommend it to anyone, in a heartbeat.
