I read about NHS health check to see what to expect at the appointment but my check was nothing like it. There was no conversation, I was not asked any questions and it was literally a blood test and good bye. Nobody checked any blood pressure or anything else! It was rushed and uncaring! The appointment lasted less than 5 minutes and that was with other people too as the nurse went through about 4-5 people while I was waiting for my appointment for about about 25 minutes.

Dear Patient, Thanks for your feedback - it appears the appointment you attended was just your blood test. For our NHS Health Checks, a blood test appointment is required at least 1 week prior to your NHS Health Check. The 30min NHS Health Check appointment is then booked after the blood test, to go over the results, and all other procedures/discussions. It’s good to have pop-up surgeries to give patients information on illnesses like Diabetes. It opens your eyes to what amounts of sugar you are taking in many foods that you thought were good for you.

Usually I’m satisfied with my overall experience at the surgery & perhaps the following is more of a reflection of the current state of the NHS than the surgery itself. Today I was told that I needed a blood test & the next available appointment was….. five weeks away! Then I was told try Ashford hospital as they might have earlier appointments & turns out that they are also five weeks away. I’m hoping that the cause of my symptoms are not serious….

I had a very positive experience with the phlebotomist who was pleasant and efficient however my earlier communication to the surgery regarding the blood test requirements had not been actioned.

Following an NHS health check my cholesterol was found to be above normal. The practice asked me to make an appointment, talked me through the next steps and immediately made a follow up appointment several weeks later to check progress. They sent me advice on diet by text. Generally have found them responsive and ready to refer me when necessary.
