    This makes it incredibly easier to book doctors appointments, it is a smoother process. I recommend this stays in place, allowing the phone lines to be available for elderly patients.

    I like the new chat doc service as I was finding that the old call up at 8am system made me disproportionately worried and anxious both in the run up to needing to make a call, whilst in the holding queue itself and when waiting for a doctor to call me back. It also meant I put off making the call due to work/child commitments. In terms of arranging paperwork/ repeat prescriptions this has been a very welcome development for me. I do have some reservations about using the service as it feels that I have less contact with the doctors than previously (and even less than pre-Covid with face to face appointments). The chat doc system makes it easier to ‘avoid’ speaking to or seeing a doctor. I feel that this may sometimes lead to doctors not having the opportunity to properly assess the patient’s condition and needs as they would with a call/face to face appointment.

    I sent a message to the service before 8am and was sent a response telling me it was open from 8am to 6:30pm which was helpful. I resent the message after 8am and received a series of automated messages helping me to get where I need. Once Novum had the info I was told I would receive a response within 2 working hours, which I did (about an hour and a half) - I was offered an appointment in surgery the next day or a telephone consultation, as I could not make the surgery I chose telephone and was given a slot for the next day. The messaging took the stress out of waiting on line and also speaking to someone, so I was grateful to get a quick response and option. Thank you!

    Chat is faster than registering at the reception because it was never possible to call on time, and besides, now there is greater understanding among new doctors because the previous doctors were a failure and I immediately know whether I need an appointment, whether the doctor needs to order additional tests, or whether a simple prescription with medications will suffice so at the moment for me is a best way

    The new chat doc service has enabled me to connect quickly to a clinician & address health care issues. It was easy efficient and useful for me as an individual. I recognise it is a system that won’t suit everyone & people may have concerns but it’s been very helpful for me.

  7. Review titled virtual chat system makes it a lot easier

    OK, so the physical surgery 3 but that’s mostly to do with accessing appointments rather than actual care received, which is generally good. This virtual chat system hopefully makes that a lot easier - so far it has been simple, quick and easy to use. The only thing I would say is on my first interaction I explained the issue in my first message, then there were a whole load of automated qs before I was asked to explain my medical problem again! So it seemed a little long-winded. I also think the system will need lots of advertising so people know it exists and it could be problematic for elderly people to use.

    I found it easy to use and received a message from a receptionist early the following morning. I was offered an appointment in a few days' time but when I said it was more urgent than that, I was offered one for the same day. It feels a fairer service than previously and less of a frantic scramble at 8am if you need a same day appointment.

    I've only used the chat doc twice both for fit notes. In my experience, because I couldn't leave my home, it was handy. It is a prompt service, would recommend.
