Review titled Poor service delivery
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2023
I last saw a doctor at this practice before the pandemic and I am annually subject to both blood and urine being checked . Following my last sample I received a four page email indicating I now have a degenerative disease . The email was full of abbreviation's and words I had to get defined . I appreciate I may be getting older but what has happened to plain English communications , face to face meetings . I am lucky I am computer literate but 25 % of the population do not have access to the internet and are digitally excluded . This gross insensitivity style of communication must be reviewed. On past occasions when i have visited the surgery I have frequently heard people alarmed , anxious on not being able to access a doctor or be assisted to get other health services . So I walk away I prefer not to listen to these patients dilemma's in a public place . Talking to other patients it is clear the service delivery and communications has not improved this year .

Thank you for your response we welcome all feedback so we can learn from everyone's views. We are in the process of informing patients of any outcomes relating to annual testing as per the national guidelines. If you wish to discuss the results you are always welcome to call and request for a GP to talk to you. Annual tests are routing if there were any abnormality a GP would not send results message they would call the patient. I do apologise if this has alarmed you in any way, but as this is anonymous I cannot organise a call for you. Regards, Practice manager

Review titled Joke of a surgery
Rated 2 stars out of 5

After 86 times of calling, surprisingly they gave me an appointment. Probably the first time in years they gave me an appointment on the same day. The appointment was for my 4 month old baby who I tried to get an appointment for when he was 8 weeks old and they refused to see him or do a telephone consultation when legally GPs are obliged to give an appointment to any baby under 1 on the same day. This practice never has appointments and when they do give you an appointment, it’s a telephone one and they never call on the appointment time. It’s always before or after so if at another appointment you miss it and they don’t even apologise and make it out like it’s your fault. The GPs are really nice but the reception staff are extremely rude. They need to better their service and also remember that they also have a duty of care towards patients.

I am very sorry to hear your concerns. We do have appointments every day, and it is very rare that we do not see babies under 1 year in need of an emergency appointment. As this is anonymous I cannot invite you to discuss with me. Regards, practice manager

Appointment was on time and the nurse was thorough with her questioning and looking up my details. She was also straight (which I appreciate) with giving me advice and information.

The doctor that had been overseeing my health recently has been superb, attentive and supportive giving me helpful advice to improve my health. She has also provided wayfinding advice to other services that will help in my health in the long term.

Review titled Poor communication
Rated 2 stars out of 5

A visit to the nurse was very satisfactory , she is extremely caring and knowledgeable . However getting an appointment and communication with reception is poor . Phone lines are constantly unanswered . I actually dialled the surgery while I was in the waiting room and told I was 3rd in the queue , but neither of the reception team were on the phone.

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate all feedback as it can point out where things are not going well. Our telephony can be deceiving as we also have call takers upstairs so reception can deal with patients face to face without appearing rude, answering the phones which can sometimes take some time. I will feed back your comments at our next practice meeting. Regards, practice manager

Review titled Could be better
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have been a patient for over 20 years and the service we get has declined greatly in the last couple of years. Forgot to make referral for my child, refused to help when referral options were not viable. Near impossible to get an appointment. Attended appointment with nurse a couple of months ago and discovered not one doctor was on duty! Receptionists fail to take drs requests to see you after tests seriously fobbing you off with “it’s routine”. All in all not impressed

Thank you for your review I am sorry you are disappointed with the overall experiences you have met with. Sometimes we make mistakes I apologise for that - forgetting to do something is important and I hope this does not reoccur. There are times when no doctors are on site, usually when they have been called to an emergency home visit. It is not normal procedure to not have GPs on site during core working hours. Reception staff are instructed via task when booking requests from GPs which will state routine non urgent - if any urgent result comes through the GP actioning will call without reception being informed. Patients are not aware of the process so i understand that it may not come across in the correct manner. I will bring these points up at our next practice meeting. Regards, Practice manager
