  1. Review titled Dressing replacement

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by John S - Posted on 28 February 2023

Dressing was replaced with 3 squares, not waterproof as required after hip replacement. Would appear that the correct one is not held. Managed to purchase one from chemist. No blame to surgery as it is probably not a common requirement

  2. Review titled Appointments

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Simon T - Posted on 22 February 2023

The surgery's appointment system is pretty shocking; it is virtually impossible to get an appointment. The e-consult system, IF you can get one of those is very impersonal, and not possible if you physically need to see a Dr. When I have tried to make a face to face appointment, I have to ring before 8am, which I did do once, only to be in a queue of 14 others. This is an horrendous service for those who work and can't drop everything and have a day off to see a GP that same day. You are also unable to book appointments in advance which is again appalling. I've spoken to a lot of friends locally who are registered at the surgery who have the same problem. Something needs doing urgently.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry you are unhappy with the service. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, general practice across the whole country has undergone a massive transformation. One of the biggest and most successful changes was the multi-disciplinary teams that we now employ - whether that be Advanced Nurse or Clinical Practitioners, MSK Physiotherapists, Practice Nurses and HealthCare Support Workers, Mental Health Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists or Care Coordinators and Social Prescribers. Each of these clinicians are specialist within their area and are often a more appropriate person for you to see rather than a GP. The whole team works closely together and this is the way we are now working. We do still offer appointments with a GP however these have to be triaged by a GP first in order to ensure you are seeing the most appropriate person for your problem. I am sorry you don't agree with this, however it is the way most surgeries are now working. We see a huge number of patients on a daily basis and this way of working ensures that the people who need to see a GP rather than another member of the team, are able to. The eConsult service is a great way to be able to put forward any problems you are having and these are all reviewed by GPs. Appointments are always available to book in advance with our Practice Nurse and HealthCare Support Workers by using either the online booking system or by speaking with a Care Navigator at Reception.

  3. Review titled Routine health check/screen (60yrs) (Wotton Street)

Rated 4 stars out of 5

This is a great service that I was offered. I was made to feel very at ease & had everything explained to me. High blood pressure was picked up so I completed a week of BP recordings which were than handed to the surgery. I felt they were still a little high so thought I may have heard back but have not as yet. Either way, it would have been nice to be told if they were okay as would set my mind at rest. It was great not having to go to the Drayton surgery as I am a none driver so would have been quite a trek or an expensive taxi ride to Drayton.

The reception staff are very helpful. A slight problem is I am unable to have my phone with me at work so missed calls where being able to set a time would have been helpful.

I had a phone back from a lady doctor within half an hour of speaking to receptionist. She knew immediately that one of my heart drugs might be causing a terrible itch and prescribed cream and suggested I might have to come off the drug. Five days later I saw the cardiology nurse/ practitioner who took me off the drug immediately and he actually suggested how knowledgable my surgery GP must be. After my telephone conversation I saw another doctor that morning and she was very sympathetic about my condition and prescribed the required creams. I have written to the Daily Telegraph letters page to relate the unbelievable both my husband and I receiving from receptionists nurses doctors consultants all liaising with each other.

Seen within an hour of phoning, the Nurse was very thorough, and the prescribed medication sorted the problem.
