  1. Review titled Poor service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Julie Sharratt - Posted on 24 February 2025

I could not get the response I really needed today from the receptionist. I feel absolutely dreadful. Following “the system” her words I did not warrant a GP apt and would need to wait until next Monday between 2-5 to have a telephone consultation (I am away on a planned break with my son at centre parks then). I explained I have been on my knees since last Tuesday and been off sick from my work. I have zero energy, I am falling asleep eating my tea, on the toilet, etc. my leg remains absolute agony (that’s been agony for well over 9 months. She said have you gone to see the pharmacist about your low energy… I said a pharmacist can’t do bloods. She said I wasn’t a priority. I am furious. I can’t work, I am struggling to function, I said even washing up is a challenge. I am white as a sheet. I explained I have a history of anemia and has treatment for this. She wasn’t bothered.

  2. Review titled There is NO 'care'.

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2025

I have been with this surgery for over 10yrs. I am absolutely shocked at the lack or nonexistent duty of care. I don't mind being in a queue when I phone. What I am disgusted by is the way in which I was treated by a receptionist who thought she was qualified to assess whether I needed to see a GP or not. She had absolutely no insight in how my condition affects me and brushed it off like my needs as a patient were not worth listening too. I asked for an appointment with the GP, to which I was told there weren't any. I asked for the next available appointment with the GP to which I felt interrogated and mentally violated as to why. I virtually had to begg. She did not even look until I said that I, as a patient had a right to request to see my GP. I eventually was given an appointment. After being told I was 'being awkward' , 'I didn't need to see the GP' left distressed, upset and generally awful I really would not recommend anyone who needs positive patient care use this surgery!!!! Throughly disgusted. It should be easy to change surgery, but it's not. I now feel I can not call them when I need them the most. Also, why do they only reply to positive feedback and not invite people who have had a terrible experience to discuss their issues? ........

  3. Review titled Kiltern- Terrible practise to deal with/stay away

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Paul F - Posted on 28 December 2024

I’ve been waiting over three weeks for a pain prescription for hip/spine/leg pain/spasms (this happens regulary & is still ongoing) & I recently had a pain prescription prescribed from hospital consultant from pain clinic after spinal injections went bad so pain is terrible. I’ve complained numerous times to practise in question but with no result. This practise has been unsupportive & they don’t care for a patients mental health or pain relief support. If you want proper health support from a doctors practise do not use Kiltearn medical practice as they are a nightmare to deal with & seem to make their own rules up as the go along to suit them…not the patient! Stay away from this practise if you want your normal health support, Paul Farley.

  4. Review titled Super-helpful person on reception

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 November 2023

Just to counter some of the bad experiences in other reviews, some of which I have experienced in the past. This week the person on reception was super-helpful with my queries about repeat prescriptions, anticipating my questions.

  5. Review titled Very poor appointment service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 November 2023

Despite being only the third person in the queue there were no same day appointments and the soonest appointment was in 2 weeks. Very poor understanding of my issues by the receptionist. This is exactly why people go to Accident and Emergency My problem was urgent and serious and the response was entirely inadequate

  6. Review titled Disappointing Care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 November 2023

I am really disappointed with the care and concern of this doctor's surgery. I have been registered here since I was a child and as my whole family is also registered here, I have therefore decided to stay because it is simply easier. However, it is persistently extremely difficult to get the appropriate care or concern from this practice. As a young, female adult, I feel as though my symptoms are consistently dismissed and ignored, I am often refused appointments and even when I ring at 8am I am told my symptoms are not 'bad enough' to be urgently seen to. I am told not to go to A&E because I would be wasting their time, I am told I am too young to be reviewed by specialists because I am 'not at risk', yet 111 tells me to contact my GP straight away to receive the appropriate care? I do not feel helped by this surgery. I had to go to the same doctor three times before I got referred for blood tests and I had to eventually go to a completely different doctor to be referred for an ultrasound regarding a lump I had found in my breast. This caused delays in my care and results which increased my anxiety and affected my daily stress. I often feel very nervous and uncomfortable contacting this surgery as they often belittle me and I find the receptionists are very rude and blunt. Even when I do get an appointment, I do not feel heard, seen, or understood by the doctors which makes me put off my ailments to get worse because it is such a nightmare trying to get anywhere with anyone at the practice. I am very disappointed in their concern for patients or urgency for the appropriate care that people need and it needs to be reviewed extensively to ensure people are being treated and looked after in accordance to their symptoms and problems. It is simply not good enough.

  8. Review titled Can’t get an appointment, never ever get back to you.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 October 2023

By the time you get an appointment you could be dead, when you do (if you do) get through, no appointments available and say they will get back to you but never do. They are shockingly bad. Trying to move to a practice that will actually see you and give you an appointment.

  9. Review titled Lack of travel advice readily accessible

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 September 2023

Upon contacting the surgery for vaccinations some 5 weeks prior to travel I am informed that it is surgery ‘policy’ that they need 6 weeks notice to action this request. So, despite being promised a return call from the surgery which was never received I made a 3rd phone-call to ask that just our children received a tetanus injection but again due to the surgery not having 6 weeks notice this was refused!!! I appreciate things take time but surely if this is a policy then patients should be made aware that this request takes so long to action and it is publicised within the practice and on the website. There was no attempt to check if the nurse had any availability - just an assumption she would be unable to accommodate my request due to it not meeting the ‘surgery requirements’. A relative at a different surgery had no issues and has just had her injections without issue so I am unsure why this process takes so long at Kiltearn. So, if anyone is travelling and needs vaccinations be sure to make contact more than 6 weeks prior to travel!!!

  10. Review titled Unresponsive and inadequate

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 August 2023

I've been trying to access HRT from Kiltearn since January. When an item I've prescribed isn't available, it requires a new GP appointment, or a phone call with the practice pharmacist which either isn't possible (no appointments, try again next week, and the next, and the next or takes many days and even then the new prescription is also unavailable). I'm now out of my prescription entirely and cannot get an appointment to renew it, and the online 'patient access' says I cannot use repeat prescription services online. I have signed up for private HRT services after 6 months of heartache and hassles - so at least someone picks up the phone and speaks to me when I need more of my hormones.
