Review titled Fabulous Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 November 2023
Since moving to Tower Family Healthcare at the start of the year I have seen a few different GP's for different reasons and they have all been very welcoming and thorough with the appointment and sent me for tests etc. I have also dealt with the reception team a lot over the phone who have been really helpful and kind

Rang Tottington at 8am for callback, very helpful receptionist arranged a face to face appt with gp on the day. Gp was very helpful and good service from everyone Have also seen the in-house physio recently who was very thorough & arranged a steroid injection with the gp. This has now been carried out & I am very grateful that the problem seems to be resolved

Review titled Contact systems do not work
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Ask my GP is offline. The number of GP at Tower Health is 48. The number of GP unavailable is 46. The two remaining staff work 5 days 08.00 to 18.30 This is for the period 4/10/2023 to 10/10/2023 (working days only) As require information only, it requires a 6 mile round trip or a lengthy wait on the phone. Is Ask My GP to be reinstated or abandoned.

Review titled Caring Nurse Practitioner

First person to explain what she was going to do- what each blood test was testing - kidneys etc She explained I was to go back in two weeks - making an appointment there and then. I was told what she was going to do at that appointment. So kind, caring & informative. She put me at ease & didn’t make me feel that I was being rushed

Review titled Awful experiences
Rated 1 star out of 5

I frequently need antibiotics for infections which need prompt treatment, getting in touch with doctors is almost impossible and even when I'm told I will be put through as urgent and to expect a phone call back within 2 days the phone call never comes. I frequently need to rely on 111 to get hold of prescriptions. When I do manage to talk to doctors I am not treated with any compassion and I am certainly not given the time of day to try and sort out ongoing medical issues which causes me a great deal of anxiety.

Review titled Disappointing
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been with this practice for over 40 years and have found that the level of service has gone down considerably since becoming part of the Tower Family Care Group. I recently had an experience where I was forced to use the 111 service and go for a prescription at 11.30 pm because the surgery had not phoned me back. It was a relatively simple condition requiring antibiotics and, had I been contacted by the surgery I would not have had to suffer such extreme discomfort for such a long period of time. My issue is not with any of the staff, who I have always found polite and helpful, but the system is failing miserably. You cannot get through on the phone, then when you do you are put on a list for a call back which may be the next day (even if you are in pain!) This has prompted me to change my GP practice.

Review titled If you need medical help, don't bother calling this practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 July 2023
You will die before you see a doctor from this practice. Asked many times to see a doctor, and all you get is a telephone call 6 weeks later. Not seen GP since coming out of hospital. Complained and got a standard letter about the pandemic, no apology or anything. It used to be the best practice, but now it is the worse in the country. I sometimes think they can't get any lower, but they do. AskMyGP is a joke. 40 minute wait on phone. Some receptionist are really lovely, but you can tell those who are fed up with the sham. When you do get a telephone consultation (if you mange to get one!!) you could speak to a medical person (not necessarily a doctor) from Greenmount, Minden, Spring Lane or Tottington. Take your pick. And you will never speak to the same person again, so you have to explain your problem over and over again, getting a different response each time. If I could sum up Tower Family Healthcare in a short sentence... don't bother phoning them. It isn't worth it - no matter how ill you are. There are better ones out there....

Review titled Systems are down - !!
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I don't contact the gp surgery often the times that I have to the "mygp" system is down or they have no appointments waited over 32mins on hold to be told would pass to another GP surgery as system is down - then to be on hold further to be told again systems are down - I appreciate they cant help technical issues I'm asked now to call in a few hours what are the chances me getting an appointment - I work full time I cannot take time off just to make an appointment for a non emergency that's why I have to use the "mygp" service as its not an emergency but I need to see a doctor Very unhappy !!!

Review titled Great Doctors, apalling systems, understaffed in key areas
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 April 2023
Since Tower Group was formed, the surgery has made every 'process' significantly more and more impractiacl for patients to use- from booking appointments to repeat prescription ordering. Clearly dramatically understaffed at the 'front line', just trying to make a call now at 10.30 i the morning is proving a 20 plus minute process. Patients are busy people too- we need to have a better and more easily accessible service in the 21st Century Moved house recently so will be only too happy to move surgery too

Review titled bad experience
Rated 1 star out of 5

Since becoming Tower Family Healthcare our previous family doctor practice (which was excellent) has become a complete nightmare. The ask my GP service is now only available for sick notes so you have to phone the practice. A doctor returned my call within the hour and I thought this was really prompt as my husband had to wait 5 weeks for a return call. I haven't asked for an appointment for years and had three areas of concern but the doctor I spoke to was very abrupt and just told me to take painkillers. I said I wasn't happy to take painkillers and wanted to know why I was in pain but she wouldn't listen. When I tried to discuss my other problems she just said she had other patients to phone and wouldn't continue the phone call. This would mean that I would have to make two more phone calls to deal with the other problems so I'm definitely going to change to another practice where you actually get to see a doctor in person and are treated with a bit of respect. This is a shame as I have been with this practice (before it became Tower Family Healthcare) for almost 30 years but can't continue with an organisation that treats their patients in this manner.
