  1. Review titled Speedy and professional service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jennifer Barnett - Posted on 20 November 2022

My husband phoned an ambulance on Friday evening as he was unable to get a doctor to visit quickly. I was very unwell and had severe breathing difficulties. He dialled 999 and was speaking to an operator in Birmingham who told him a London ambulance was on the way. Within 10 minutes the ambulance were here. They were very professional and reassuring. They performed numerous tests, spoke to my GP and it was clear I was suffering from a chest infection for the past two weeks, and not a flu thst I believed I had. They obtained a prescription, via my GP, for antibiotics to be sent to my local chemist. They even offered to collect the meds for me if my chemist couldn't deliver. They ascertained we were aware of what we needed to do and be aware of and told my husband if my condition worsened to contact them straight away. Due to their speed and professionalism, three days later I am well on the road to recovery. We would never normally phone the emergency services for a minor problem but i am grateful that my husband did. We did not expect or presume such a speedy response, especially when we know they are so poorly staffed but their response time and care was second to none and I truly feel I would not have survived the night, but for them. We wholeheartedly thank them for their dedication and service during this difficult time.

  2. Review titled Accident and Emergency

    by FGo123 - Posted on 30 November 2022

Called NHS 111. Waited 2 hours for an ambulance. They then called and advised due to wait times to go myself. They would send my information to the hospital. Due to my emergency I can’t walk, have high temperature am severely sick. There seemed to be hundreds of people waiting. A paramedic who was outside saw me struggling and helped me into a wheelchair. A nurse came took me for blood pressure test. I waited 2 hours before they said they had the wrong person and I would have to go back to reception and register there because I was not on their system. I re-registered at reception and was told it would be a 7-8 hour wait. This is on top of the hours I waited at the hospital, plus an additional 4 hours waiting at home for an ambulance. I would also like to point out that the staff I encountered were extremely rude, uncaring and seemed to be willing to leave an elderly sick person to deteriorate with no attention. The system here is an utter mess, badly organised with often no one available to help you at all. I am truly shocked at how bad things have become. Appalling beyond comprehension.

  5. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My wife called 999 at about 5am on 31st Oct because I had been suffering increasing stomach pains since the previous afternoon. An ambulance arrived within 20 minutes. The paramedics examined me and decided I needed to go to St Helier Hospital A & E. They took me downstairs in a chair, inserted a cannula in my arm and took me by ambulance to A & E, where I was seen immediately. I subsequently had an emergency operation for a blocked bowel. The ambulance team were throughout extremely professional and sympathetic. I cannot speak highly enough of them.

  6. Review titled NHS 111 angels

    by os53 - Posted on 10 October 2022

I had a sudden extreme pain in my abdomen which lasted non stop for an hour. I called 111 when I couldn't shake the pain and was advised to go to A&E. During my initial pain and after in total I called 3 times and each time 111 gave me solid advice and listened intently and sympathetically. They gave me better advice than my local A&E and I'm truly grateful for the staff at 111. It is unfortunate that I live in a borough where health care appears to be at the very bottom of the national list but you take what life decides to give you.

  8. Review titled Wonderful Service

I called LAS for a friend with severe breathing problems, a very high temperature and who looked really unwell. The LAS operator was so helpful guiding me through what I should do, the details and dispatched a crew who arrived within 10 mins and attended to my friend with compassion and professionalism - she was then transferred to hospital and admitted. I am so great full to all who were involved and for all that this service does, thank you so much.

  9. Review titled Care of and for my mother

    by septemberex64 - Posted on 31 August 2022

My mother was taken into hospital by paramedics. They took two hours to arrive following my call because they are short staffed. We were very grateful to them for the care and attention they paid to my mother, and their kindness. She was treated at NwP hospital and all the staff, nurses, doctors and physiotherapists including those delivering the meals, were caring, kind and often went beyond to assist my mother. What was so striking was the shortage of staff and it exposed the demands placed upon those working on the ward. The NHS really is staffed by extraordinary people who even pushed to their limit, continue to deliver. It is difficult not to feel they are taken advantage of. We are grateful to them for all they did for our family and only hope they will are going to be better supported in doing the difficult and important job they do.

  10. Review titled Amazing Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Patricia - Posted on 14 July 2022

Yet again my husband had an accident and we needed the help of the Service. Two wonderful paramedics came this morning - a young woman and a young man - and on their advice they took him to The Royal Free Hospital for a total check-up. There are no words adequate enough to express my gratitude to these wonderful paramedics and to the ambulance service.
