  1. Review titled Best care ever

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Maurizio - Posted on 06 June 2023

I’m so glad to have had a procedure here in the Endoscopy unit (06/06). The nurses on shift were so kind, caring and patient with me. Trust me a colonoscopy is not pleasant but they made it less difficult for me, from admission all the way to discharge. This is what NHS is all about, please pass the message to them as I’m sure it’ll motivate them to continue doing well.

  4. Review titled Endoscopy Department

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Margaret M. - Posted on 03 June 2023

I would like to thank everyone in the Endoscopy Unit for their kindness, courtesy and professionalism when I visited for procedures to be done on 1st June. This was not an experience I was looking forward to, but all the staff I encountered were so kind and caring from the time I walked in to the time I left. My thanks to all of the staff.

  6. Review titled Daft Method All Through Mid & South Essex Foundation Trust

Rated 1 star out of 5

by INR - Posted on 21 June 2023

Daft method Mid & South Essex Foundation Trust has brought into place, a patient must go to the same blood test centre. Your Trust are wasting nhs funding monies. Here is the reason, I have blood tests for my blood pressure medication & inr. Therefore I attend one Clinic/Surgery for two blood tests which saves me attending two blood test appointments at different venues. nhs would agree with my way as I attend one appointment and giving appointment two to another patient. Plus it saves me more time and expense with one appointment. And the other reason I attend Wickford is because I can not obtain an appointment by Swiftque or gp surgery. (sometimes its weekly or fortnightly testing, therefore all clinics are full in the sort time period). Who ever thought this method up must have worked for bb Healthcare or got the brains of them.

  7. Review titled Radiology Department

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 June 2023

My GP referred me to the Radiology Department to book an X-Ray for a suspected broken foot. He gave me a print out with a number and instructions to book an X-Ray. I have since been on hold for over 5 hours trying to get through. Each time the call is kicked off the line after around 30 minutes with a 'please try again later' message. This has happened 10 times now and I've given up. I'll now have to clog up A&E and waste everybody's time.

I would like to thank all staff within the endoscopy department at Basildon Hospital for their professionalism and kindness when I required a gastroscopy. Each and every person within the department were kind, friendly and helpful and put me at ease during what is not a very nice procedure. You are all stars!! Thank you.

  9. Review titled Linford Ward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kevin plant - Posted on 08 May 2023

I feel compelled to write this review because of the jaw dropping exceplary service / treatment I have just received from the above ward staff . From the moment I arrived in some considerable pain to the time I left after surgery I was treated by staff who clearly are skilled and obviously care about dealing with the patients needs . Noticeably in my opinion only I must note ,there where elderly delirious noisy patients who clearly needed different location specialist wards and treatment s. These were treated by staff with patience, skill and compassion . Staff had to communicate loudly but gently to overcome and quell the shouting of the patience in order to quickly quieten the din disturbing other patients who were distressed and being kept awake . All the nursing staff were completely trained and knew every question thrown at them . The support nurses (forgive title description) were equally diligent and friendly. The wards were impeccably cleaned and patients comfort was always for front in their minds . Surgical team just faultless and I do not possess the vocabulary to describe how highly I rated there help and skill . It is understandable that the rules state I am not allowed to name individuals and on reflection I realise I would be unfair to anyone I missed , but I say thank you all guys , you are a credit to your profession. Take a bow .

  10. Review titled Chaos in gynecology; poor organisation.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 May 2023

After spending nearly an hour trying to find a non-existent parking space in the multi-story car park (and any ground level car parks) at the hospital I drove to Basildon Town Centre to park my car. I wish I'd used public transport - despite the fact I live a considerable distance from the hospital. I was 40 minutes early for my appointment but 14.40 hours (the appointed time) came and went and I was increasingly concerned about rescuing my vehicle from a town-centre car park. The 14.20 hours appointment ran late and the woman due in at 14.30 hours was still waiting at 14.45 hours. I had absolutely no confidence whatsoever that I would get in, for what I was told was to be a 5 minute consultation, within a reasonable time. There is absolutely no mechanism to obtain a rescheduled appointment whilst at the hospital; the reception was unhelpful to say the least. I called the relevant department later in the afternoon and was given the impression that care would be denied me as I had left the hospital (prior to seeing the doctor) due to unacceptable waiting period. There is no excuse whatsoever for these appointments to be delayed in this way. From my observations I believe that some of the staff were busy having a chat in the consulting room when they could have been seeing patients. I am not impressed with anything I have seen in this particular department of Basildon University Hospital. Other departments seem to work adequately but not this one. I asked a number of times whether there was a private hospital in the area but no one seemed to know. I shouldn't have to even consider going down such a route and as a regular payer of National Insurance contributions and taxes I feel very short-changed by the NHS of late. It's the attitude of some of the staff that concerns me. I expect a service - especially when I am worried about a particular potential health issue. No one seems to know anything and there is no flexibility for the "customer". The NHS has repeatedly cancelled my previous appointments and I have been waiting since October/November 2022 to be provided with a fairly simple, yet vital, procedure. We all seem to have to fend for ourselves these days - including the kind patient who offered me her 14.30 hours slot. Despite the kindness of another patient I wasn't prepared to take a chance and hang around when the appointments were getting more and more backed up due to the slow speed of service in the department.
