Review titled Horrible Service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 August 2023
Who do I even contact to report the horrible service from Triage (maternity) The staff on this line seem to be careless. I called Triage 5 times today and was either today line is busy or placed on hold for almost an hour. The receptionist kept placing me on mute and seemed to be speaking to another staff member while i was waiting for response. Who do pregnant women need to contact if theres any emergency? I wish you had better trained staff and attentive staff

Dear patient, I am sorry for the issues you faced when trying to contact triage within the Maternity Department. There are two numbers that patients can use, 0121 507 4181 and 0121 507 5965. As an emergency area, the phone lines may be engaged. However, the clerk on the triage desk or midwife, if available, are expected to take the call but there may be a delay if the midwives are busy assessing patients. I apologise if you were unnecessarily kept waiting and that the staff were not attentive to you. Kind regards, Richard Beeken, Chief Executive

Rude receptionists, rude doctors and nurses fobbing you off. People in A & E collapsed and not being seen to. Terrible place. Would not go back to city road if my arm was falling off.

Waiting in a&e reception for 2 hours before finding out I was in the wrong area/department. I eventually found this out myself by asking the receptionist if I had missed my name being called

Review titled Excellent, knowledgeable care
by ompom - Posted on 16 May 2023
I had to attend for radioactive iodine for an over active thyroid. From initial phone call to the centre, who had a specialist call me back to answer questions, to the final visit today to receive treatment - excellent, knowledgeable care. Useful information, not rushed, very caring

Review titled Not being able to see daughter and first grandchild
by stoneqc84 - Posted on 22 May 2023
Would just like to say im very disappointed in City Hospital serenity delivery suite, that after being here with my daughter and her partner for over 24 hours because she had a c section and her partner went in, I was not allowed to swap so I could see my daughter and my first grandchild. I am disabled and have chronic illnesses and had to sit in the corridor . I hoped to get a glimpse of her in the corridor. I think its terrible . Just 2 minutes, what is the problem, I'd been with her all night. Infection control was the reason given.

Review titled Amazing from start to finish
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Becky - Posted on 26 March 2023
I just want to say how amazing the level of care and support I was given by the wonderful people at the city hospital during my labour and after care. This was my first Labour and unfortunately I had some complications, every single person involved made the right decision, informed me of the information I needed and had the best interest of my myself and my baby. The midwife team supported me, & showed empathy and kindness throughout my long Labour, at no time did I feel alone or unsupported. I have never met such a team of wonderful individuals. The consultants, doctors and other care staff were also incredible. During our 5 day stay on the ward, we were looked after extremely well and were give the best care. Everyone from the catering staff to consultants again were amazing. The breast feeding support team were great along with the individual midwives. I would like to thank everyone for everything you did to support myself, family and baby, we will ever be truly thankful.

Review titled Poor communication and worst experience at Primary Care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 February 2023
We arrived at 5.30pm on 10/2/2023 at A&E and we got seen by the student nurse within 20 minutes for a temperature, blood pressure check and symptoms of illness discussion. They asked for a urine sample too and I asked where the toilets were they said follow the yellow arrows and the toilets are on the right hand side. They said you will be seen and called by an A&E doctor but we weren't told where to go after this. So we sat in the corridor opposite the toilets and waited to be called. An hour had passed and I went to the A&E desk and I asked them how long it will be until we're seen and they asked for patient name and they said you are on the list but you need to follow the yellow arrows and sit in the Primary care waiting room. Now it was 7.10pm I went to the desk and told them we were sent from A&E to see a Doctor. I asked how long it will take, they said an hour or so. They didn't even ask the patient name to check the list. So we sat and waited and by now it was 8.20pm. I went back to the desk and the staff in primary care we're all having their own conversations and they didn't acknowledge I was waiting to be seen. When I got their attention she asked my name and told me that I'm not on the list because I was called at 6pm and again at 6.57pm but we were in the wrong waiting area. They laughed at my name, smirking and were being unprofessional when I asked how my name was removed from the list. They said we called you but you didn't answer. I told them that the A&E desk said my name was on the list, they said primary care is not the same system so my name was removed and readded. They were rude and said what seems to be the problem that you can't wait another hour. I told them that I'm in pain and that they said it will be an hour, a hour and half ago! They are the face of the NHS and should care about their patients but they don't. We got seen by another nurse at 8.35pm and asked why the matter was. They were unfamiliar with what I had and didnt know what it was!! They did another temperature check and said that I will be next and the Dr will see me. So we went back outside and got seen at 9pm. The Doctor was apologetic about the waiting time and the situation. Unfortunately, the staff at the desk of Primary care weren't even sorry or apologised for the waiting time. They didn't care and had no sympathy or understanding for their patients. They shouldn't work here if they don't have the slightest care! One of them was shouting at another patient to follow the yellow arrows. It was awful! There is a clear notice on window saying that no physical or verbal abuse is tolerated, but when patients are treated unfairly its seems ok. There needs to be a clear sign stating after you've been to see the nurse in A&E please go to the waiting area in primary care. Yellow arrows on the floor are not good enough to direct patients. I won't be coming back it's been the worst experience.
