  1. Review titled Knowledgable and practical help.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My oncology physiotherapy sessions during 2023 and now 2024 have been extremely helpful. I have been given movements and stretches which help my condition as well as encouragement regarding my progress. I have been very satisfied with the sessions and also feel that help is there for me rather than just being left to cope with the after effects of surgery.

  2. Review titled Urgent Medical

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I suddenly had extreme pain and struggling to breathe in the early hours of Saturday morning. By 8am I could barely breathe and the pain was so intense. My son and husband took me to a&e. From the nurse who saw me when I entered and subsequent Dr's and nurses during my 5 hours there you are all amazing. They kept me informed of what they were doing and helped to put me at ease. Extremely caring and dedicated staff. I was never made to feel I was just a number. Thankfully after all the tests, pain relief and Xray it seems I pulled a muscle in my upper left back whilst turning over during the night. Who would have thought something so simple could lead to you thinking the worst. It's gradually getting easier now and a huge thank you to everyone involved in my care during this time.

  3. Review titled Great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jo Ahmed - Posted on 19 February 2024

I was taken to Accident and emergency department by my son as I had presented with confused behaviour and repetitive speech. I was triaged and went through fairly quickly to see a doctor who ordered a ct scan and bloods. I was there for 5 hours altogether but was kept informed. My memory started to come back after 21/2 hours and I was diagnosed with a Trans global amnesia episode. Doctors and nurses were very kind and supportive as I was very worried about this strange and scary experience.. it had happened at the gym where I have no recollection of what I was doing. I was reassured that this was not a serious condition and probably won’t happen again. I want to say thank you for everything and I’m so proud of our NHS of which I was once a part of. I was a nurse for over 50 years myself but retired at 68. I hope the government focuses much more on our NHS which is one of the best things we have. The staff are amazing and professional at Colchester general hospital. Once again thank you.

  4. Review titled Effect of dementia patients on other patients

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2024

Extremely stressful stay, in Darcy Ward because of dementia patients in the same ward making it very difficult to sleep. Also told that I could not leave the ward to go down to the Main Entrance coffee shop and newsagent without being accompanied by a nurse. Felt like being in a prison. It seem obvious to me that disruptive dementia patients should be in a separate ward.

I was admitted to stanway ward from a and e This was the early hours,I was greeted by the staff there on arrival which was welcoming and reassuring.everything was explained to me and I was told I’d have to wait to see the doctor but it could be a wait as they had emergencies to attended to which I fully understood.i was looked after my the nurse team was ho kept me updated and looked after me so well they couldn’t have cater for me anymore, they were professional, caring and kind,I was seen by two doctors hours later upon arrival to the ward they apologised for the delay and explained the situation which was very much appreciated by myself. I was seen and dealt with in a professional and caring manner by both doctors.this was a very reassuring experience due to the situation and I can’t thank them enough for there amazing work and caring kind personalities.they are a credit to the nhs and Colchester general hospital thank you again

  9. Review titled Money wasted by the NHS

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Paula Longman - Posted on 30 January 2024

Waiting for surgery, was told it would be a while fair enough NHS is under pressure. Got a phone out of the blue in December 2023 come for a pre assessment, great l thought been in a lot of discomfort for sometime. Then l phoned to see when the surgery will take place, told April or May . Waste of time pre assessment will be out of date. Must have been a training exercise or someone got their wires crossed.

  10. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Alison H - Posted on 20 December 2023

I recently had a planned robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy and was really impressed by all aspects of my care. The nurses who admitted me at the Elective Care Centre were so helpful and put me at my ease and were very patient in answering the questions that I had. They explained the routine and the other staff who would be involved before, during and after my procedure. I was on the afternoon list so had the morning to wait and they regularly came and checked on me and made sure I was comfortable. The Anaesthetist Associate who came and talked through what would happen was so kind and reassuring - I was so grateful to have met her in advance and to then see a familiar face later when I was in the anaesthetic area. The surgeon also came to see me and to explain further the details of my surgery. She had already telephoned me a few days earlier and gone through everything so thoroughly for which I was very grateful. Having the opportunity to ask any further questions and to clarify aspects of the procedure made such a difference to how I felt about things. When I finally went down for my op, I felt very calm and was reassured by both nurses that accompanied me. The recovery room staff were amazing and so attentive as were the nurses back on Stanway Ward. I cannot fault the care and attention I received during the 36 hours I was there. All the staff were so kind, nothing was too much trouble and I can honestly say that the whole experience was very positive. Thank you everyone. The work you do each day is absolutely brilliant and I, for one, am very grateful.
