  1. Review titled World class service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2023

Having been taken in as an emergency on a Friday evening with pains, I couldn’t have received a better service. Numerous tests and ECG completed, chest X-ray and CT scan done - quickly diagnosed blood clots and pneumonia on both lungs. Early treatment started, staff kept me informed constantly, attended to without fault and very caring. A truly professional team of people working there. I was discharged with medication after 3 days on the road to recovery - whatever someone may have paid for private treatment - it could not have beaten the quality of care I received!! Thank you to all the staff at The Conquest Hospital in Hastings, you are superstars.

I had my baby delivered by csection 8 weeks ago and was absolutely terrified as my first experience of csection at Eastbourne was terrible, however I didn’t need to worry at all I felt like I was being checked into a hotel, the midwives were Amazing they looked after me so well and were so kind and reassuring… every single member of staff that was involved in delivering my baby made it the most enjoyable and special experience I could have asked for, they took all my fears away and I was able to relax and enjoy my baby enter the world! I was checked on regularly and the food was very yummy! I didn’t want to go home haha! Thankyou so much to the amazing midwives and all the team in theatre us women are all extremely lucky to have you delivering our babies! Would 100% recommend having your babies here x

  4. Review titled Wonderful health care assistant

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by April Isted - Posted on 12 January 2023

I just wanted to say a big thank you and sing the praises of those who looked after me when I turned up in the worst throws of my miscarriage. Particularly one health care assistant who was such a lovely lady and took such good care of me the second I arrived in a state and in a pool of blood. She cleaned me up and took the best care of me at the most human level was exactly what I needed at the time. I hope you get the recognition you deserve for going above and beyond and being amazing at your job. I hope this reaches you. Thank you so much x

  5. Review titled Thank You A&E

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Valerie Crawford - Posted on 14 December 2022

I had slipped on black ice and suspected I had a fracture. From the moment I was checked in at A&E until I left, I received nothing but the best professional treatment. Kind courteous staff, efficient and effective assessment. Even though the Department was heaving I was seen and leaving by approximately 45 minutes. To my surprise an appointment was made to see an Orthopaedic Consultant within 2 days . Thank you to the member of staff who looked after me and was just lovely. Well done A&E Conquest Hospital. I value you and the work you do. Valerie Crawford

  6. Review titled Incorrect Telephone Number given.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

The telephone number shown to contact Dermatology at Conquest does not work. Upon dialling the number given for dermatology 01424-755255 starts but quickly cuts off.

Dear Daniel, We are sorry that you encountered difficulty contacting the Dermatology Department at Conquest Hospital. The number you provided appears to be the old telephone number for the Hospital Switchboard. The Trust moved to a new telephone system in 2022 and therefore the hospital telephone number changed. Should you need to contact the Dermatology Department in the future you can contact our Hospital Switchboard on 0300 131 4500 and wait to speak to an operator to be put through.

Dear Keith, Thank you for taking the time to contact us about the difficulties you have had trying to reach the Audiology Department; we appreciate your feedback and are very sorry for the inconvenience and upset this experience caused you. The Trust strives to be accessible to all patients and members of the public who need us and whilst it is not clear if you were kept waiting by Switchboard or the Audiology Department directly, you nevertheless should not have incurred such difficulties or delays for which we apologise. I have checked and can confirm that full details about the Audiology Department is available on the Trust website; from the main page, you click on "Services A-Z" within the "Services" section and Audiology are the fourth entry under "A". Click on the link for Audiology and you are taken to a more detailed page where at the bottom there is a further link, which takes you to a page with contact details for the department including a direct telephone number and email address. These contact details are 0300 131 5679 or esht.audiology@nhs.net if you still need to contact Audiology. I hope this is helpful. Take care Keith, and keep well and safe.

  9. Review titled Conquest hospital A&E

by HappyHighlander - Posted on 05 December 2022

I felt afraid because a patient with mental health crisis was not looked after quickly enough. They waited for about 4 hours (like me) in A&E reception, and then went and was destructive outside. The police came later. A nurse I asked if it was ok now said they have run away because they know they have been naughty. I'd say they were a vulnerable person who no one appeared to give a stuff about. Their care worker nattered on their mobile phone about their clients mental health in earshot of me and others in the waiting area, the care worker ignored their client, didn't sit with them or interact with them. The medical staff were nowhere to be seen - no one focussed on this patient. I believe the person was bored: I could see this from my work with asn kids, I could see where this was going, but medical triage did not prioritise them, and in the end they could not cope with waiting in an inappropriate, uncomfortable area for someone in mental health crisis. This ended up with me feeling unsafe, and a lot of damage outside.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your thoughts about your observations and experience within the Emergency Department (ED) at Conquest Hospital. The Trust works hard to provide a high standard of care to all patients and we are sorry to learn that you did not feel this was the case, in particular towards the other patient who you outline was vulnerable and required a more compassionate approach. The Trust is always keen to learn where our services could be improved and we shall feed back your comments to the Head of Nursing for the ED. We were also sorry to hear that this situation caused you to feel unsafe within the ED, as this is not how we would wish any patient to feel.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Daniel - Posted on 26 November 2022

Every single staff member of Gardner Ward and also the staff in the operating Theater were fantastic. They are all so polite, friendly and very professional throughout. They made me feel at total ease during my stay and nothing was too much trouble. I can't praise them enough and they are a credit to the hospital and the NHS. Please make sure you pass this message onto the staff as they fully deserve to be praised. Thank you
