  2. Review titled Waiting 20hrs

Rated 1 star out of 5

My GP told me to attend A& E,and he supplied a letter explaining I needed to be seen by cardiology. I waited from 6pm on the 4th Sep till around 4pm on the 5th sat in A & E. Terrified to use the one toilet incase someone called my name. Two young men fast asleep on the floor surrounded by spilt water. I am 78 and felt totally un cared for. Terrible experience.

  3. Review titled Wonderful care and attention

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helen Hughes - Posted on 22 September 2023

I had a bad accident, where I broke my tibia, fibula and ankle. From all the paramedics, ambulance staff, A&E, Ward staff and Orthopaedic Surgery team, they each deserve a special mention for their care, attention and professionalism during my stay. The paramedics, ambulance staff and A&E staff ensured I felt comfortable, had pain relief and re-assurred me, in what felt like a very traumatic time. I was dealt with in a very personal professional manner. The Orthopaedic Surgery team were wonderful both in preparing me for my operation and afterwards, ensuring I knew what was going to happen and allaying any of my fears, making me feel totally relaxed. Ward 41 has the most caring, compassionate team of nurses, health care assistants, doctors, other staff etc where nothing is too much trouble. They have time to talk, care and be there for you. I thank you all truly for looking after me, making me feel cared for and confident to go home and continue my recovery. I am sincerely grateful.

  4. Review titled Insensitive and disorganised

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 August 2023

I had a d&c under GA for a missed miscarriage. I was extremely nervous and distressed after suffering a late miscarriage only 10 months earlier. I arrived at 7:30am and was left to wait in the waiting room for 6 hours before being moved to a private room as I was upset. It was 9 hours before I went to theatre-in that time it was clear the department was in chaos with patients documents being mislaid and having to complete the same paper work over again. I’d waited that long I was very dehydrated which made retrieving veins distressing and painful-which brought back previous trauma. After the surgery my blood pressure was very low due to being so dehydrated and I only left the jubilee centre at 8:30pm. There was not a clear handover to the nurses of what had happened as they didn’t know if I’d had any pain relief or couldn’t tell me why my other hand had been bandaged up-the opposite one to where my cannula was. I can honestly say I wouldn’t feel safe coming back to this hospital with a future pregnancy. It really didn’t need to be this way and greater sensitivity is needed when dealing with women who’ve had miscarriages.

  5. Review titled Superb support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ray Thomas - Posted on 30 August 2023

I attended A&E on 14th August after contacting 111. I was triaged quickly and referred to the stroke nurse. She was very helpful and arranged various tests. It was confirmed that I had has a stroke. During my short stay I was met with helpful, professional staff -and the stroke team in particular deserve a mention. At a time of some distress their care supported me and the advice and information I received regarding recovery has proved invaluable. I would like to express my gratitude to all concerned for the care given to me at that time and the continuing support organised by them for me to aid recovery.

  6. Review titled Rude Opthalmology Clinic Clerk

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 July 2023

Did not want to leave a negative review as both my parents have received excellent care from the Countess. However, on numerous occasions visiting the Eye clinic I have experienced rudeness with one member of staff in particular, the clinic clerk. She spoils the great service that we receive from everyone else who is lovely! I think she should either retire or work in an office away from the public.

  7. Review titled Everyone was very caring and kind.

    by januarywh64 - Posted on 08 August 2023

I have had to endoscopy tests this year. I must admit I was very nervous, as the last one I had some years ago was not very pleasant (this was before the Haygarth building). I had been reassured over the telephone that I would be given double sedation. I have to be honest, I felt nothing, I was awake, but the procedure was not at all unpleasant. On the first visit, the most unpleasant thing was having something pushed up my nose (for oxygen I think), but on the second appointment I just had little plastic breathing apparatus inserted at the bottom of my nostrils. I may have to go again soon for a repeat, just waiting to see consultant. Everyone was very caring and kind. I would be confident that you are listened to at your appointment, and certainly more at ease if I do have to have a repeat.

  8. Review titled Care with respect and dignity

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 July 2023

After 7 months of various gynaecological investigations I highly command all staff for their care and respectful treatment of me throughout many procedures. This ultimately ended in surgery and again the care on all levels was excellent. May I also add that liaison with my own Drs was very good so follow up was seamless . Well done C of C !

  9. Review titled Failing, and failing badly

Rated 1 star out of 5

My son needed an emergency admission to treat his psychosis. No bed was available and we, his parents, were left to care for him, at home, for over 2 days. Inept, inadequate and unacceptable. No parity of care with physical health. Would a heart attack patient have to wait two days for treatment?

  10. Review titled Appalling

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 June 2023

After a 3 hour wait in the ambulance, my husband was transferred to the corridor inside the emergency department. One “corridor nurse” was looking after 6 or 7 people who had been brought in with possible life threatening illnesses. Nobody had a call button or any privacy or dignity whatsoever. Each time anybody needed to be examined, they were moved into a side room which looked more like a storage cupboard. This is the reality of emergency care right now and appears to be accepted as the new norm.
