Review titled Exception Duty of Care - Healthcare at its best
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Deborah Guilford - Posted on 29 June 2023
Having been referred to A&E today by my GP I would like to thank everyone involved from admission to discharge for the thoroughly exceptional duty of care shown by all the staff involved particularly the ED doctor that carried out numerous tests and examinations to ensure my health condition was not in any danger ; apart from the long wait to see each department ; once I was seen each department showed complete compassion and concern and duty of care in addressing my medical issues; from start to finish- I would like to take this opportunity in thanking each and everyone involved and to commend them for their care and attention shown , thank you everyone who was involved and on duty on Wednesday 28th June 2023; from 13-30 pm to 18.30 pm, your services were greatly appreciated in resolving my medical issues. Many thanks and kindest regards Mrs Deborah Guilford

Our son was seen by accident and emergency staff and broken arm put in a cast by amazing staff. Following day had an opwration again by professional staff supported by play team nurse. The after care by another nurse was amazing. We really were so greatful for the care our son received from the diffrent departments from the minute we arrived until his discharge.

Review titled Great Team
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently had a back molar removed, I am very anxious but opted to have it taken out under local anaesthetic rather than wait for general. on the day I was obviously nervous and scared but the team of 3 ladies put me at ease, I was made aware of what was happening and told what to expect. I was shaking so bad at one point one of the assisting dental nurses rubbed my temples and spoke to me calmly, it really did help. I think this department is great, from my first consultation up to the extraction I felt like I was a priority and not just a number. This team of ladies specifically deserve a medal for patient skills.

Review titled Excellent treatment from a kind and caring team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lynnda Robson - Posted on 19 September 2023
My GP found a lump in my right breast in March 2023 and referred me to CUH Breast Cancer Unit. I saw a consultant within two weeks, who found another lump in my left breast and sent me for mammograms, uItrasounds and biopsies at the in-house Bradbeer Breast Cancer Unit. I was then referred to a consultant breast surgeon, had further MRI’s and opted for a bilateral lumpectomy, rather than a mastectomy, which was carried out in June 2023. The surgeon, her team and the Macmillan nurses were always kind, efficient, knowledgeable, helpful and took time to explain everything to me and discuss the best way forward throughout the whole process of around 20 appointments for various investigations. The surgeon did an excellent job during the operation and I had very little pain afterwards and was up and about within three days. Unfortunately during this operation she found a ‘suspicious nodule’ which turned out to be malignant and I had further surgery on my right breast in July. I cannot speak too highly of the treatment I received throughout from all the wonderful staff at CUH. The ladies who staff the Bradbeer Unit and dealt with my scans, mammograms and biopsies were likewise always kind, cheerful and encouraging and the ward nurses who looked after my post-operative care also went the extra mile to make me comfortable. I am now scheduled for two weeks radiotherapy at the Royal Marsden in Sutton which should be the last stage in my treatment.

Review titled A&E visit for a 101-year-old
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Tom Griffiths - Posted on 25 May 2023
Our 101 year old aunt needed to be checked following a minor fall. She was brought in by ambulance from her care home, and family joined her a bit later. She was checked over in Majors (room 27) and treated very kindly by her allocated nurse, and the two doctors she saw. She had a CT scan and a separate x-ray, both by the same technician, again charmingly handled. All medical staff and porters were extremely gracious and kind, and she wants us to pass on her heartfelt thanks. It was a bit difficult waiting between procedures sometimes, but she felt safe at all times. Very well done.

I had a BCC removed from my cheek yesterday. The surgeon and his team made me feel very relaxed and staff very easy to talk to. The whole experience from the staff that dealt with me was excellent, I would like to thank them all for making my visit very comfortable.

Review titled Mix-up with my prescription
by Rod2023 - Posted on 11 May 2023
Though I was taken in on time, the actual procedure started only around 12:00 noon which took around 5 mins. Then a wait for the report and then wait in the massive queue for another 1:45 mins to collect a token for the medicine in the pharmacy. And then after the long wait when my turn came my prescription was not sent to the pharmacy by the Urologist who had specifically informed me to collect my medicine only from the hospital pharmacy. I had then rush back to see my Urologist for the missed prescription who had left office by now. Fortunately, some other person helped me with it.
