Review titled Fantastic
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dean Cartwright - Posted on 01 November 2023
I was in A&E last night from 630pm To approximately 1030pm due to an eye injury at work. I just wanted to leave a little review to say thank you to the 2 separate nurses that saw me, the one who saw me first to take my pH levels and book in the eye doctor, and the second lady who gave me an eye flush out. (I'm so sorry I don't know your names!) Also a big thank you to the eye doctor who rectified the problem very quickly. After over hearing the conversation between the first nurse and the eye doctor on the phone regarding waiting times and how busy they were that night.. I just wanted to show my appreciation to everybody involved last night as they were incredibly busy and I think they done exceptionally well. I know eastbourne a&e get a lot of unfair criticism for their waiting times ect but being in there myself it was clear to see how hard everybody works. Thank you so much guys

Review titled Unacceptable delays for my PEGJ tube
by ChronicallyTrying95 - Posted on 09 October 2023
I am a chronically ill patient with a number of serious and life threatening conditions. I was admitted as an emergency over a week ago because I had been without any nutrition for a week after failure to replace my NJ tube. I was promised I would be getting an emergency PEGJ tube after the weekend but over one week later nobody has bothered to get things in motion to place one, nor have I got my NJ tube so I have been without any feed now for almost three weeks which is totally unacceptable given my underlying health issues. On top of this, I felt belittled and humiliated by a team of doctors who seemed to imply that more problems were more Mental Health related which is ridiculous given I have almost died multiple times over the last few years. I just want the gastro team to seriously reflect on how chronically ill patients like myself rely on timely care and we need these medical devices to live. I have wasted another weekend in hospital with no idea when I am going to go to theatre and have my surgical tube places. I appreciate I am a super complex patient but it really is a straightforward procedure and I should be a priority case as I was told I was in A&E.

Review titled Horrendous experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 October 2023
Have had Botox treatments on my bladder on several occasions all not very nice. I had my treatment recently and it was horrendous I was left in agony and losing lots of blood. Usually I lose blood for a day or so but this time three days later I am still losing. I have been in touch with the department just to be told I have to monitor it. I cannot face going through this again in six months time.

Review titled A story of Excellence
by Adriansleftelbow - Posted on 22 August 2023
For several days I had been feeling nauseous and under the weather, with a buzzing in my head and a worrying gradual decrease in my resting heart rate from its normal 38-40 (I run 3-4 days a week and walk the other days) to 32-33. My GP advised me over the phone to go to A & E immediately in Eastbourne which I did. I was triaged and upon seeing my pulse was 33 the nurse arranged for me to be seen by the doctors who said I needed to be admitted to the Cardiac Care Ward as they diagnosed Atrial Fibrillation after taking blood, X-raying me and listening to my heart. After a 4 hour wait in Resuscitation a bed was found in the 6 bed CCU ward where I was duly covered in wires and sticky contacts to the machine measuring HR and to a defibrillator. The consultant wanted to observe my stats overnight to see if my HR stabilised as my heart had an irregular beat from the ECGs they had done on me. The next day on his rounds the consultant advised that as there was no improvement he recommended I be given a pacemaker to stabilise the heart and that given junior doctors were on strike the earliest opportunity. Monday came and around 12 midday I was told that the pacemaker would be fitted that afternoon and at 10 to 2, I was wheeled into the "lab", where I was given the procedure under local anaesthetic. The pacemaker crew were absolutely world class every one of them was empathetic and professional and total operation time was around 30' with no pain or discomfort. The only downside was that they did not have Led Zeppelin on their play list. After the Op I was wheeled back to the ward and my fellow patients were astounded that I was back so soon. I was discharged 24 hours later and this morning, Thursday morning I went for my first post Op walk of 2.5 miles with my wife and our collie. The culture at the hospital from porters to lovely caring nursing staff to the consultant to Triage to the pacemaker team was incredibly positive, warm and life affirming. Matron even had a reassuring word with me.
