Review titled Kind and reassuring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 May 2023
All the nurses and doctors were kind and reassuring. When I was having my surgery done one of the doctors sat with me and spoke to keep me distracted. The surgery itself was done quickly and afterwards the nurses kept checking up on me and the surgeons also came in to see how i was doing.

Review titled Professional, caring & compassion
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Derek Beesley - Posted on 10 June 2023
I attended A & E with chest pains & although I had to wait it was quickly established following triage that I was having a heart episode. I received acute treatment & I was told I would be admitted to receive further care & tests. I was moved to the CCU & over the next hours & days I underwent many tests. All of these were conducted with a swift & slick precision. Throughout these days I was kept full informed of the results, causes & possibly treatments available. The level of care remained high & constant each & every day & the standard of care switched in seamless transfer to each on-coming shift. There is clearly a dedicated team from the consultants to the cleaners. Each has a role & they fulfil their role in the most professional manner. I was always kept fully informed of my status & the progress being sought & made to seek the surgical remedy I needed. In all I spent almost 3 weeks on the CCU & in spite of the heart episode all the staff remained upbeat & positive as to my future. I was moved to Southampton hospital on the 9th of June where my care will continue. Sadly the NHS is often receiving bad press. I feel I couldn't have received any better care than I received from Frimley. They work in difficult situations & I felt that each & every member of staff always did their duty to the very best of their ability. I felt safe, cared for & at ease with my treatment. Thank you so very much to each & everyone of you.

Review titled Exceptional Maternity Team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Stacy Stander - Posted on 27 May 2023
I would like to send my sincerest thanks to every single person who helped deliver my daughter via emergency C-section on Sunday morning and helped care for me and her afterwards. Having a C-section within two hours of being admitted to the labour ward was not something we were expecting at all but the team kept myself and my husband so calm throughout the whole experience and we constantly felt reassured, informed and as though myself and our baby were in the best possible hands. I was extremely nervous and scared but the manner in which the team spoke to me and helped keep me (and my very husband!) calm throughout everything is something that I will forever be grateful for! Every single person that we were in contact with on the labour ward, during surgery and in postnatal care was wonderful and I do not have one bad thing to say about Frimley Park Hospital’s maternity care. I would recommend this hospital to anyone expecting a baby as I do not think it is possible to receive better care anywhere else. Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for bringing our baby girl in to this world safely! You are all absolutely amazing!

Review titled Lack of awareness and empathy
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 May 2023
I recently attended the EPU after bleeding/abdominal pain while approx 8 weeks pregnant. The first time was for an ultrasound where I was told that she couldn’t see a pregnancy. I then saw the nurse for a blood test who explained either it’s too early to see or there’s been a miscarriage. She was actually nice and asked if I had any questions. She booked me in for another blood test in 48 hours. After my appointment, bleeding became worse so I had an idea of what was happening which was very upsetting. I went back for my blood test - I had wait a long time for a short appointment - I knew what was going on so found it distressing being back there. I called that evening for my results and was told my hormone levels were significantly lower than the first blood test. At no point has anyone said ‘really sorry you’ve had a miscarriage’. I was asked to go in another time for a 3rd blood test. When I asked why and if there was any point they said ‘just to make sure it’s all gone’ which I assume is the pregnancy hormones. I went back for a 3rd blood test and I was told ‘your hormone levels are coming down nicely’. I found the staff I encountered during this experience to be polite but lacked empathy and awareness of what they were saying. I appreciate they see this all the time but from my perspective this is my first pregnancy that I’ve just miscarried. Thankfully I have a good support network but not everyone has that. At no point was I directed to any advice or support on miscarriages or given information about trying again etc. Maybe I should’ve asked - I don’t know. I work in the medical field as an emergency responder so having this experience was disappointing.

Review titled No follow up
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Caroline - Posted on 18 May 2023
My elderly mother was brought into the hospital on 15th April after having a mini stroke, she was kept in overnight then sent home. She went back for a Mri scan on the 19th April with the results supposedly being sent on the her doctor. We have heard absolutely nothing since and after a lot of chasing and phone calls to the surgeons office and doctor, she has had an appointment come through for July! I really hope nothing happens to her while she is waiting for this date. Absolutely appalling zero follow up care for a vulnerable patient.

Review titled Excellent Care In Accident & Emergency
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Clive Nuttall - Posted on 03 May 2023
I had a bad fall in the garden, and my right leg on the shin bone had a serious wound and a lot of blood was lost. Was taken to A&E by ambulance, from that moment onwards everything done by the Nurses was with care and attention to detail, checked me out throughly had tetunus jab, xrays, ecg, and finally the wound was cleaned up and stitches were put in. I only have praise for all the A&E Staff who looked after me.

Review titled Disjointed and substandard care
by sigmapg95 - Posted on 21 April 2023
My parent was admitted to surgical ward F8 at Frimley as an emergency. In my view, the care they received was disjointed and substandard. Over several days the consultant they were under changed multiple times and it was never clear which one was in charge. There was one very poor incident where they started vomiting (large amounts) and choking. I called for help but no-one was around. I pressed buzzer. Nothing. I dashed to nurses station and asked the sister-in-charge for help and ran back, expecting to be followed or someone to be sent. No nurse came. I dealt with the vomiting and choking and went and asked again, buzzer still also unanswered. After a total of 10 minutes, a staff nurse finally came to find the patient covered in vomit and no-one helping. There was no obvious other emergency in the ward at this time. When it came to discharge, there was very poor communication from nursing staff and they discharged from the bed and ward before the final consultant review.

Please convey my thanks to the A&E staff after I staggered into A&E on Tuesday in intense pain due to a kidney stone. Their calm, rapid and organised response (particularly the consultant A&E on duty) was much appreciated.
