  1. Review titled Physiotherapy service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 February 2023

Was told by NHS Consultant I needed urgent physio. I kept chasing but was told 3 weeks wait, so I also booked private. The private doctor told me to continue with NHS, but perhaps don’t tell them you’re seeking private treatment. The difference in care and treatment is staggering, i Believe I would have lost use of a limb if I’d solely relied on NHS. They try to cover appointments by telephone instead of face to face and they don’t touch the limb just print and give you a sheet of exercises to do, don’t see same person on next visit. Kept up the appointments as told to do so, but really not worth the parking fee.

  2. Review titled Bronchiecstasis Clinic. Respiratory Dr so reassuring

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Vjo - Posted on 16 January 2023

After a forty plus weeks wait to see someone I got an appointment today with a Dr at the Bronchiecstasis clinic. I was very apprehensive/scared but the Dr (who is extremely knowledgeable on Bronchiecstasis) quickly went out of her way to reassure me. She arranged a chest X-ray and I saw a physiotherapist all within 2 ½ hours . I just wish I had been able to see her earlier as the long waiting list seemed endless and increased my anxiety . This is of course no fault of the fantastic dr.

  3. Review titled Extremely poor communication, extremely poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 December 2022

The A&E should be called the joke department as this what it is, no Doctor in sight all night. The Receptionist was very aggressive and when you asked about the Doctor, the Head nurse said why are you shouting. Most of the patients signed themselves out as there was none of the Staff knew when the Doctor would be there to visit the patients. Extremely poor management

I came into the A&E 17th December evening with a very bad wound to my head. The department was extremely busy. But the care that the they gave everyone was phenomenal. Thank you for the wonderful care you gave to me & my wife. You all went above & beyond. Please pass this on to your staff how thankful I am.

  5. Review titled Orthodontist treatment & utmost care

    by Lucy 2022 - Posted on 30 December 2022

After an 8 year course of treatment my daughter has recently been discharged from Good Hope Orthodontist department. Over the 8 years she has been treated with the utmost care and with sympathy when required. She has been taught how to tolerate all the treatment required with care as she has dyspraxia that affects her speech and mouth, taught how to care for her teeth successfully with braces on and listened too when she had concerns. We wish to thank all involved in her treatment.

  6. Review titled A&E

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 December 2022

I brought my wife in to A&E with a very bad rash over your hands, feet and spot in her mouth. Following this her big toe on her left foot split open showing a wound about an inch wide. We were assessed by the nurse at the door who never listened to the issues. He saw the wound on the toe and sent us to Minors up stairs. We sat in the waiting room in the far corner out the way off the rest in there as we had a concern regards the rash. After 2.5 hours I asked the nurse in minors to check that we had been checked in correctly as we had seen a lot of people leave the waiting room that came in after us. I told the nurse regards the rash who came over straight away and suspected foot and mouth along with the toe told us we need to be down stairs. She followed us down and told the check in nurse that we need to be seen by doctors. I was told to position my wife in a waiting area away as much as possible from everyone else but there is still a lot around us and to go see the check in nurse. I asked why we wasn’t checked and assessed correctly at the start, his attitude at this point changed and said things happen and you have been added to the waiting list to be called. Why have staff assessing patients when they enter that don’t want not enjoy a job. We have now got to wait expected 12 hours in a waiting room with patients around including pregnant woman with a very highly contagious foot and mouth. We have informed people around us ourselves but the check in nurse keeps sending people to sit near us. Following the major issue of COvid we should be protecting people from diseases like these. At present we are still waiting in the A&E waiting area with 6 people with in 5m, 2 of which within 2m. With these standards and attitudes I am not surprised how quickly COvid and others diseases spread through out hospitals.

  7. Review titled Failed Discharge

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Stephen Harrison - Posted on 21 December 2022

My dad was discharged in a very rushed way, he arrived home in a terrible state and was readmitted less then 48 hours later. I don't understand this as it is both very costly to the NHS and extremely stressful to my dad (COPD) mum, sister and me. I understand your need to free the beds but on this occasion I feel it was a very poor judgment call to make, especially when things weren't clearly explained and the correct care was not put in place. I hope next time God willing if my dad can come home better care and provision are put in place. I would like to add my praise for the paramedics who arrived in 17 minutes and the way he was looked after in Majors.

  8. Review titled I was treated with the greatest respect

    by mercuryzf38 - Posted on 06 December 2022

I went to the endoscopy treatment centre for an 8.30 colonoscopy appointment. I arrived just after 8.00 and by 8.15 I had BP etc taken and had a canular inserted ready for the sedation. I was also asked how I would prefer to be called. From check-in at the main reception right through to my discharge after the procedure I was treated with the greatest respect and care and concern for my welfare by every one of the pleasant and friendly staff. All were wearing name badges displaying first names only which was much appreciated. Then this morning I received a telephone call from one of the nurses in the department to ask how I was after yesterday's procedure and to confirm contact details should I experience any after effects or have any concerns. I cannot believe that mine was a unique experience and so the entire team deserves congratulations for their professionalism. Well done and thank you. Enough said!

  9. Review titled A big thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have just spent 6 days in MAU and AMU at Good Hope and cannot speak highly enough of all the staff that looked after me. Everybody was kind, caring and extremely helpful. I promised one lady I would leave a comment about the food which was nowhere near as bad as people would have you believe. It was hot and tasty with a fair choice of meals. I loved the cheese and potato pie with baked beans because it reminded me of school! Thank you everyone and have a very happy Christmas

  10. Review titled Worst experience ever in A and E at Good Hope hospital

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 November 2022

Just had the unfortunate experience of waiting for nearly 12 hours in A and E at Good Hope, Sutton Coldfield. Literally no doctors available, being pushed from one room to another being fobbed off by giving stupid reasons for waiting and asked to wait another 2 hours in a room with no chairs to sit on. Some staff (not all) are rude, patronising and treat their patients with contempt. Others are apologetic and try their best to do their job in a broken churn of people who need to see a doctor. When will someone finally say the nhs is not fit for purpose? That time has surely come. The United Kingdom is now worse than a Third world country and has a nhs pushed beyond breaking point. It no longer works.
