Review titled Another great save
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Susan Chadwick - Posted on 26 July 2023
I attended A&E on a Sunday and saw the Emergency GP with an ongoing upset stomach. They gave me a very thorough examination and diagnosed a gastro problem. The advice was to take honey to calm my poor tum and paracetamol for the pain, which worked like a charm! After a recent water infection too, I am finally starting to feel better for the first time in ages. Thank you

Today my Mom was taken into hospital after a fall. She was put in the Ada ward where the staff are part of the ambulance team. What an amazing ward that is. Moms treatment was second to non and all the staff were exceptional. Thank you so much for the care you showed my Mom.

Dear Alison Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback about the Good Hope Hospital Birmingham. We are delighted to hear about the excellent service your mother received after her fall and arrival at the hospital. We aren't exactly sure what or where the Ada ward (it may have a different name officially) is so if you have time to contact us at patientexperience@uhb.nhs.uk with more information and we can confirm and ensure this lovely feedback is passed on to those involved. Review titled A great experience (under the circumstances)
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Charles Tack - Posted on 04 June 2023
My daughter was brought into paediatric A&E yesterday for a suspected spinal I jury and concussion. From the ambulance drivers through to the nurses & consultants who treated her we were given the highest level of care, warmth and professionalism. I've had cause to complain about other hospitals in recent years and was under the impression the system was broken, but I'm pleased to say that if yesterday's experience was anything to go by the state of the NHS is looking up. Very few delays (at least those we experienced were within expectations) and very relieved to say we were able to get home by 11pm. Even during that time there were changes of staff and those picking up from other colleagues did so without dropping the baton and continued to provide the same high level of service. Sincere thanks to all who helped us in difficult circumstances.

Review titled The upmost care and consideration
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Toni - Posted on 19 June 2023
Thankyou to all the staff working at children's a&e today between 12 and 6. my 21month old came in with a progressive wheeze, seen quickly and given so much care. He made good friends with all staff who were both supportive and understanding to me and how hard it is for a child of that age to stay in a small room for 8hours. Both my children have needed care at good hope children's a&e and I'm so grateful for having these caring people at a time of worry. You made a big difference to this moms day today thankyou

Review titled Brilliant service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Karen Priest - Posted on 18 June 2023
I brought my 84 year old mother into A and E this morning with slurred speech following her blood pressure medication being increased. All the staff were amazing. They were friendly, polite, professional and efficient. She was discharged after 5 hours following thorough testing with an appointment being booked for ongoing care at the TIA clinic. The service was second to none and I would like to thank all the staff for their treatment and care.

Review titled Booking Appointment
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Julie Large - Posted on 08 June 2023
I was given a link from my GP surgery to book for an echocardiogram so I did this and requested a QE appointment. I received a letter for an appointment forthe Good Hope Hospital on the 19th May 2023. I checked how much a taxi would cost from my home there and back and it was about £46. So I phoned the Good Hope hospital to say that I would wait for a QE appointment and would they cancel my appointment. They said they would and that they would refer me back to the QE. When I phoned the QE a couple of days ago they told me that I'd been put down as a did not attend which is disgusting. Fortunately I have now been given an appointment at the QE. This should not happen and please can you make sure that booking staff do not put did not attend when someone has cancelled an appointment. Thank you.

Review titled Quick, clear and caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by joh - Posted on 31 May 2023
i have a history of breast cysts but each time i feel a lump it is always worrying it could be something more. This was the first time i had attended this hospital as i have moved recently and could not be more pleased with the care and speed with which the doctor's examination, mammogram and ultra sound were done. The result was happily more cysts which were aspirated carefully and explained thoroughly. Thank you to the whole team.

I had a right and left catheterisation, and although I had a long wait due to unforseen circumstances, all staff were very caring and profession. I thank the consultant and his team for the procedure and the kindness of nurses in recovery.

Review titled Fantastic care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Janet Greaves - Posted on 24 March 2023
Writing on behalf of my mother, who recently spent 13 days in Good Hope, roughly 10 days of which were on Ward 24. We both want to say a big 'thank you' to the staff on AMU, but in particular Ward 24, from the HCAs and nurses, consultants, therapists, OTs, domestic and catering staff. Apologies if I've missed anyone! You can really tell when someone enjoys and is fulfilled by their job, and everyone on the ward was always friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. You're all a credit to the NHS. Thank you so much for looking after my mom and making her time there such a pleasant experience.
