  1. Review titled Amazing care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 February 2023

We had to take our son to the Beverley and Hull Royal A & E departments yesterday and then was referred to the Urology department at Castle Hill late last night. We can’t thank all the staff at each hospital enough, each and everyone of them from the reception staff to the nurses and doctors. They were all so amazing, caring and friendly. Thank you

  2. Review titled I am in constant pain

by Caterine - Posted on 21 February 2023

I have pmr and osteoarthritis , for the last three year. First I have encountered many uninterested doctors who for some reason don't belive I have pmr. And because of this I am in pain. I no longer take steroids but I was given steriod injections which did work on my shoulders these were administrated in November. My pain has returned but I do not know when the next will take place. I have tried to call the rheumatology help line several times this week, I did manage to leave a message and someone called me back, but my phone cut this call of because I have a call bar on withheld numbers. I did try to call back but this time when I reached a dialing tone the phone line cut my call off. I started my calls on Tuesday every day till Friday but I ess unable to leave another message. I finally called the hospital help line and I gave a message to let the nurse know I was in pain. The receptionist I spoke to was very rude said that the line was paid for she could not help I must use it, I explained that I had tried my best to do this but the system was not working, reluctantly she put me through that's when I was able to speak to someone. It is Saturday now and no one has called me back or made appointment with rheumatology. This illness is not the only problem I have. I have a leg ulcer very painful and recently I had a operation to remove a polyp from my womb and now after the biopsy going to see a surgeon and consultant to see the next steps as I have cancer cells in my womb lining. And another appointment regarding surgery because a consultant feels my weight is stopping my ulcer from healing. I know this has nothing to do with rheumatology but I am in pain and dealing with everything else that is happening to me. My doctors only ever do telephone calls and I have been told repeatedly that there is nothing else they can do for me, which leaves me in a dilemma. I moved to Withernsea from west yorkshire and I do feel that I have had worse treatment here that I did there. Covid hit when my bariatric surgery was meant to take place and because I was on steroids I had gained weight and I was told before that if I did put weight on the surgery would not happen, and as I did I canceled the programme I was on. Now everything seems to be put down to my weight even the ruptured achilles heal that the surgery won't do because I am too fat. Is this the reason no one will help me with my other issues and my pain? At the moment my life is pretty rubbish I'm constantly in pain, my ulcer my knees because of the brittle bones and I suppose no one will fix this either because of the weight but happy to do bariatric surgery, but not on my knees, or ruptured achilles surly this operation is more dangerous to my life. And what if I do have womb cancer am I too fat to have an hysterectomy or not? Meanwhile am I meant to grin a bear my pain till everyone deems I am or not. This what has happening in this area that everyone has become complacent about how people like me are suffering.

  3. Review titled Gynaecology department

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Karen leech - Posted on 14 February 2023

Didn't feel listened to ,felt my concerns were dismissed. Like the consultant didn't care about what was going on . Left for another 3months to try something else instead of going in and looking to clarify what was going on. I already suffer with painful conditions I shouldn't be getting left to deal with this aswell. Not caring amd very clinical. The nurses was lovely can't fault them at all

  6. Review titled Denied appropriate healthcare in disgraceful time frame.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lélia - Posted on 16 January 2024

After just short of 3 years I recieved an appointment at Hull Gyneoology. The consultant said they woild not proceed with surgery for me even though they are aware that surgery is the only solution to my painful & visible prolapse. The consultant then published the report stating I had turned down any surgery. My GP followed up with another referral & Hull gyneocology rejected it. My GP who is awatr of my disabling condition has referred me for a 3rd time. I am still waiting for an appointment now 4 years since my injury.

  7. Review titled Superb human medics

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 February 2023

I was admitted by ambulance from another hospital after a positive Lumbar Puncture test result for a Subarachnoid Haemorrhage. Everyone involved with my care were superb. That’s from the cleaners to the consultants and everyone in between. All were gentle and calm - the nurses and more senior folk explained everything well and were reassuring. The ward staff were attentive to my need for pain relief… as well as taking time to reassure me about various tests. The angiograms of my head were completely painless, nothing to be concerned about at all. I can’t speak highly enough of the two wards I was in for a few days. The interventionist radiography team were excellent through the procedure…keeping me informed and chatting it through afterwards.

  8. Review titled Prescription issues

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Sandra cooper - Posted on 15 January 2023

Had a appointment today 15 January for a ear examination so was issued with a white prescription which was not acceptable at my local chemist only for use at the hospital but pharmacy is closed on Sunday so now have to go to my doctor's hoping to get the correct prescription as the hospital is twenty miles away. Apparently this has happened before so why is it continuing?

Told Thursday to expect the worst regarding my mum and to inform the family. Requested 4 times to speak to a doctor and still been ignored and been given contradicting information on numerous times. What do I actually have to do to find out the truth and actually facts of what's happening..

  10. Review titled Life-saving experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kevin Watson - Posted on 09 February 2023

Having been rushed into A&E under blue lights, extreme trouble breathing, was assessed, Cardiologist attended, taken into Majors, moved to AMU, then on to Ward 500. The care and attention received over the ten nights I was hospitalised was nothing short of perfect. The staff were outstanding, understanding, full of empathy, and always professional yet friendly and approachable. My respiratory issue was resolved, now awaiting further examination by Cardiology.
