Review titled Fantastic from UTC
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 February 2023
My son (16) fell off his moped 2mins into his first lesson… Visited the UTC with ankle injury. In and out within the hour including Xrays, follow up advice given, and I was even able to speak to a nurse later that evening with a question who answered it comprehensively and with kindness. Absolutely excellent service from the UTC team, the whole unit is a credit to the hospital and really forward-thinking.

Review titled Extremely disapointed
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Travis Prince - Posted on 28 February 2023
Me and my girlfreind (Alana matthews) went into the neonatal unit at around 12am and were beginning the process of labour, over the course of our stay we had 3 main midwifes one of which had a student in toe. Our birth plan had not so much as been looked at, everything we wanted to happen did not. We specifically asked for no student nurses and we got one. We asked for minimal people yet complete strangers "who wanted to say hello" were invited into the room. We asked for our baby to be cleaned straight after birth then laid onto my partners skin but she was not cleaned. I seriously begin to question why we made a birth plan just for the staff to ignore it completely. Secondly once in the orwell segment of the maternity ward we were given multiple checks where i had to ask what the results were. We had staff members giving us absoloutely no updates on the situation or what the situation was. One staff member in particular came in without saying a word and then left with one of our documents for over 3 hours. The staff member who delivered our baby was excellent tho, she seemed fairly new at the job but kept a level head and kept my partner as calm as she could be, all whilst being on very little sleep, unfortunately i cant remember her name but she really was amazing and deserves all the praise she could get.

Review titled Excellent care

I fell and fractured my hip on 9th February and after an X-ray I was transferred to Needham Ward. From the moment I arrived I was given such good care. The staff were cheerful and very caring and nothing was too much trouble. I was kept informed of the treatment at all times and I had my total hip replacement carried out on 13th February. The surgical team were amazing and I had several visits on the ward after the operation so they could see how I was progressing. I developed such a bond with the staff who were really exceptional. The food was acceptable and I think the reason most patients complain about it is because they are on lots of medication which reduces the appetite and gives one a dreadful taste in the mouth. I didn’t even eat my favourite foods that family brought in. I received five star service on Needham Ward and the staff there work incredibly hard always with a smile on their faces.

I took my granddaughter to A and E yesterday night after a sports injury to her ankle. My granddaughter was seen immediately and sent to the Fracture Clinique. At the Clinique she was checked in and seen within 15 minutes. The whole process was speedy, efficient and staff polite and helpful.

Review titled Experience
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I was told to arrive early to have an X-ray before my appointment however, I had to wait 2.5hrs for X-ray. My consultant was very apologetic about the delay but it wasn’t his fault he was having to wait around for X-rays to be done before seeing his patients. This is such a waste of his time. Surely fracture clinic X-ray department should be just for this clinic and not an extension for A/E department to use.

Arrived at A&E just before midnight, I was in extreme pain due to a possible infection, has to wait to be seen by a doctor for 8 hours. The way the department was being run is pathetic. Understaffed, only one doctor seemed to be doing his job. Very disappointed

Review titled Catering

Having had major surgery and a stoma the art of getting better is good food. The catering at Ipswich hospital is a joke! I was told to start a soft diet or fish or chicken so I ordered fish pie, to be given what I can only describe looked like a small pile of faeces and runny diarrhoea purée next to it, namely beef casserole. Red meat I was strictly told would not be a suitable soft food starter diet. I was told the kitchen hadn’t made fish pie and the alternative was soup. How can patients get well if they are left hungry. They need taking to task! Disgusting

Review titled Fantastic service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Steve from Kirton - Posted on 31 January 2023
I have been treated for bladder cancer for two years. I had tumours removed under GA last week, despite picket lines. Very professional as always, from consultation to the post-treatment care. Ward staff, including nurses, porters, cleaners and catering staff couldn’t have been kinder. I am extremely grateful to all the staff.
