  2. Review titled Declining standards

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 May 2023

I feel very sad at leaving a negative review as all of my previous experiences at the hospital have been good. I Checked in to outpatients using the screen. It was very grubby and I dread to think what a microbiologist would find there. I managed to independently locate the clinic. I Wasn’t sure what to do with ticket when I arrived and ended up asking a patient. I was quite embarrassed when asked for my urine sample rather loudly in the waiting area. I needed to re-do the sample. The toilet was unpleasant…urine on the floor, seat up and smelly. My perception of attitudes was that staff wanted me in and out of the consultation as quickly as possible ( By the way, I didn’t know it was a consultation as I was led to believe by my health centre that it was in order to fragment renal stones.) Had to keep asking simple questions e.g. Can I get this blood test here? (Yes), where do I go? ( follow the signs). Everyone did their job but I didn’t feel that hearts were in it. Everywhere felt crowded, dingy and uncared for. I dutifully filled in the required paperwork before attending but that was never collected even though I offered it upon arrival. I left still not sure about what was to happen next e.g. do I wait for an appointment for scanning, do I need to see my GP for blood test results or will the hospital contact me directly? Communication generally fell way below my expectations. At least there was an actual person to welcome you for a blood test and the waiting area was clean and tidy. On the way out, the toilet by the cafe at entrance no. 6 was also unpleasant..faeces smeared on seat, toilet paper on the floor and quite smelly. I acknowledge I may have expectations that can no longer be met in the current climate. However, I was so disappointed, sad, fed up, and a little angry. Not looking forward to returning. Luckily, I have options…many do not.

  3. Review titled A million times thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Laura - Posted on 05 May 2023

I was taken into hospital due to low blood pressure from a miscarriage. I truly believe the nurses and doctors saved my life on the day as I had lost so much blood, but mainly they all deserve so much respect and appreciation for their hard work and understanding going above and beyond to comfort me as I came in alone and making me feel safe. I can’t remember her name, but there was an especially amazing agency nurse from the Emergency department who held my hand the whole time, comforted me and gave me such lovely words of wisdom, she deserves a massive raise and a huge thank you! Overall, my sad and traumatic situation was made a lot less stressful and painful due to the wonderful care I received. Many thanks and love to everyone

  4. Review titled First Class, Caring Service Again

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Richard Elsey-Warren - Posted on 11 May 2023

I had a CT scan on 11 May. On arriving at the hospital, I was struggling to find the CT unit & a passing medical secretary volunteered to escort me through the hospital to the CT unit. She went, ‘beyond the call of duty’ which made me fell more relaxed. Once in the CT unit I was looked after by 3 nurses & from the moment I arrived I was treated in a dignified, respectful way by friendly, informative, kind staff. This is my second visit to Ipswich hospital in the last few weeks & both experiences were similar. Thank you.

I had a Saturday afternoon appointment (8/4/23) and my experience was brilliant. I was seen quicker and everything during my scan was explained to me. He checked repeatedly that I was okay throughout and was absolutely wonderful. He’s an absolute credit to your team!

I was given a colonoscopy on a Sunday. I was treated with dignity, respect, kindness & professionalism at all times and everyone took the trouble to put me at my ease. Whilst I won’t be queuing for another one, I will always be grateful for the way I was looked after.

  7. Review titled Nurses are exceptionally kind and professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 April 2023

Saturday afternoon, I contacted 111 service due to new symptoms in ongoing condition. I was advised to attend A &E within 2 hours. I arrived by taxi feeling very scared and anxious. Greeted at door by experienced nurse who directed me to right section. Busy waiting area, nearly all chairs full. Seen and triaged after only 45 mins, taken into side room for more extensive tests. Nurse was exceptionally kind and reassured me and two other elderly patients. He kept me fully updated, even took time to get me tea and hot toast. After all tests were reviewed by Dr I was thankfully allowed home. Doctor gave me full explanation, advice and referral back to GP for follow up at next appt. Was back home less than 4 hours after leaving.

  8. Review titled Great staff, great experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Today I went into the gynecology unit for a scan for termination of pregnancy. The nurses were all kind and non judgmental towards me and handled my situation with such care and respect. I hardly had to wait at all to be seen by the doctor after my scan to discuss things further and a special thank you to her for being so kind and thoughtful of my anxiety! Would highly recommend to any women struggling with anything pregnancy related or not these professionals will make you feel very comfortable and safe!
