  1. Review titled Audiology Appointment 2pm 15/08/023

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hugh Evans - Posted on 18 August 2023

First class treatment I received at my appointment. The Audiologist displayed a very caring, friendly and polite manner. The treatment was fully explained and carried out efficiently. Having suffered from tinnitus for a number of years is gives patients confidence knowing they can get effective treatment from this debilitating condition when the need arises from a knowledgable Audiologist. Thank you.

  2. Review titled A&E and Xray Depts

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Alan Evans-Brown - Posted on 21 August 2023

I came to A&E after my knee let go. I was met by a charming polite nurse who took my details and was ushered to the receptionist. These guys are under extreme pressure. The waiting room was chock-a-block. I was offered a wheelchair. There was a 3-4 hr wait. After about 30 mins I was seen by a doctor who made a few examinations. Part 1.. I was sent to Xray.. 45mins so far.. The lady there was so friendly and professional. Then back to A&E to wait for the prognosis.. Part 2... waited about 30 mins.. Part 3... I was called by a Doctor to be told I had a small fracture. She made a booking to the fracture clinic to confirm by MRI or Ultrasound...Part 4 Total time in and out 2hrs.. The waiting is not an issue.. These people deserve a medal and a pay rise. As we all know the NHS is under extreme pressure. So to all future patients. Be polite have patience be prepared to wait. They will fix you .. Keep up the great work you are All doing. A very very happy patient..

  5. Review titled Good experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Mr M Alderman - Posted on 26 July 2023

Male aged 71, Brought in to a&e after a fall at home due to osteoarthritis of my left Hip, awaiting date for my hip replacement operation, all told i have been dealt with with speed/care and professionalism, X-ray done fast, and only admitted due to, an issue they needed to look into further not related to fall, moved to a ward at 11pm good nights sleep, Nurses and doctors very kind and caring, moved to short stay ward next day, this was Ok apart from next night, as air mattress on bed was not comfortable, which made me refuse to sleep in it, sorted by nurse on duty, so manage to get some sleep, catering basic but fine, drinks ie coffee/tea during stay again fine. only delay was with ct scan ordered by doctor which delayed my discharge till the next day still awaiting scan, I ask doctor to do ct scan on a outpatient basis as this was delaying my discharge Doctor agreed, discharged then went ahead, this was very fast and professional discharged withing a couple of hours, Had ct scan within a week as out patient, no results yet, finally got date for my hip replacement operation on14th August 2023, so hopefully no more falls for me due to hip, All i pray for now is no delays due to strikes, praying i will be pain free after my Operation after constant pain 24/7 for the last 15 months, Total review score 8/10 for jph with no major issues

I was admitted to A and E, teatime of Sunday 23 July/2023, to cut things short, the service I received from everyone, may have saved my life! On arrival I had a temperature of 40.6, in severe pain,i had many tests and scans and ultra, had one cancelled op day,no fault of the hospital I hasten to add,2nd op day had badly damaged and leaking Gall bladder removed, which was seriously affecting my other organs and full of stones, plus removal of an umbilical hernia at the same time. Fortunately as I write this, I am well on my way to full fitness. I wish to give a massive thanks to all associated with a and e and to those on ward 5, from cleaning and tea trolley staff and everyone else upwards, you are all fabulous. Thank you.

  8. Review titled Immense pressure

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 July 2023

It is so clear to see first hand sat in the waiting room how critically overworked and underpaid NHS staff are. You can see it in their performance and contact with patients. I sat waiting for 4+ hrs in A&E due to moderate kidney pain. When I arrived I was advised a 2hr waiting time. I am not complaining about the wait times, as I know patients are seen to in order of clinical need. However, the seating available in the A&E waiting area are absolutely unbearable. They would be most uncomfortable to sit in for any period of time, let alone a 4+hr plus period. I am also obese, weighing 21st, so the chair was even more uncomfortable. I ended up discharging myself as I was in pain but had been offered no pain relief whilst I waited, and I started to get pain in my hips, legs and bottom from sitting on the uncomfortable chair for so long. I had some basic blood and urine tests done, but other than that received no other care before I left. I am now at home, my pain is worsening, and no doubt this will probably get worse and I will have to re-turn to A&E at another time.

  9. Review titled Fantastic service provided by fantastic people.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lesley Campbell - Posted on 07 June 2023

I needed to attend this a&e for the first time at this hospital. Given the poor experiences I had at the London hospital near where we used to live, I was resigned to having a long wait and be seen by disinterested and rude staff. But not at all at James Paget. From the moment I hobbled in till I left, diagnosed and treated, 2 hours later, I was met with nothing but kindness, patience, helpfulness and efficiency by all the staff members I came into contact with - receptionists, triage nurse, porters, X-ray staff, treating nurse and security. The Triage Nurse , the treating nurse and the security man all went out of their way to assist me getting around instead of just waiting for a free porter. I also witnessed the reception staff doing the same for others too and in such a kind manner. Always looking at what the patient needed as opposed to what their job was. Fabulous. Thank you so much all!

  10. Review titled Such a dedicated staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ernest Rollings - Posted on 09 May 2023

I went in to hospital as an emergency admission with a strangulated hernia. I am 87 so was quite worried about having a general anaesthetic but a team of 9 doctors looked after me and saw me through the surgery and I was back on my feet the next day and home with a very neat scar. Such a caring group of professionals and they have given me my life back in the garden after 2 years with the hernia through lockdown. Thanks again for your dedication and care. Ernie
