    I was booked to have an MRI today and when waiting outside realised I needed the toilet so the nearest place to me was the endoscopy unit in car park 1. I went inside to ask if it was possible to use the loo and was told by the member of staff on reception that they would need to check. A senior nurse came and spoke to me in what I feel was utter disgust at the fact I dare ask to use the facilities ! I found their tone and manner incredibly rude and I was so shocked! All they had to say was unfortunately our facilities are for endoscopy patients only and I would have accepted this gracefully, however their response was so shocking to me. I work in the NHS myself, and I was so disappointed to be spoken to in such a way. The fact that I had nothing to do with them or their unit was beyond me, they seemingly couldn’t even be bothered to tell me where the nearest loo was! What a shame that this was my first experience of your staff at this hospital. I think maybe some patient experience training is required for this particular member of staff.

    Am in awe of the post -operative care I received from Ward 31. From the 2 kind, attentive night nurses ( night of the 4th Oct, Bay1) whose smiles and reassurances got me through that first ‘challenging’ night, to the many who continued with skill, care, and empathy to ensure my recovery was effectively directed and supported. The atmosphere on the ward was friendly, but focused; care was meticulous and personal. Standards impressively high, throughout. Especial attention was given to ensure I never felt vulnerable or embarrassed, despite the intimate nature of procedures. Massively valued. Overall, a passionate, positive, characterful and dynamic team of exemplary nursing staff whose dedication guarantees the level of care needed for a successful recovery. You are a credit to nursing and the NHS; an authentic model of excellence; and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    Been to ward 11 today for day case procedure was met at reception with a warm Smile and welcome.The 2 nurses and consultant made me feel comfortable at all times and chatted to me throughout made it a pleasant procedure please pass on my big thank you.

    I just want to thank everyone involved in my operation, the care I received by all the staff involved was excellent. I suffer with anxiety, especially regarding hospitals and have a bad needle phobia. The staff were amazing with me. I cannot thank you all enough. X

    My partner and I took Mum for an appointment. From arriving through to leaving all the staff were kind helpful and thoughtful, they calmed Mum's anxiety, made sure she was comfortable and explained everything that was happening. They were all incredible and deserve so much more than a Clap .thank you each and everyone of you

  6. Review titled Great practice and compassion

    I am having a very difficult time with a rare condition that many clinicians are struggling with. ( Not here) Through these challenges the care and compassion I have received from my headache specialist nurse has helped me enormously in respect of my mental well being. My care has also been adapted by this skilled practitioner who has really treated me as an individual. Thank you and know you are hugely appreciated by your parents. I would highly recommend this department.

    Was told July 2023 that I need a cpap machine it will take 12 weeks 7 months later nothing phoned there still working through March 2023 so not good expect I might get it by 2025

    I had to go for an urgent CT scan this morning into the CT mobile unit. All of the staff were absolutely perfect ans completely faultless. They were all amazing with me, a perfect team . They were so gentle when trying to cannulate me and gentle when I was trying to get the drink down that I had to have before my CT with contrast. By far the best team I never ever dealt with in all of my times in hospital ans way and way above and beyond and private appointments. Perfect perfect perfect xx the best service ever xx thank you so very much x

    I came into lgh to have a LigaSure Haemorrhoidectomy and ended up on Urology after the op. The staff across the board were incredible, but even more so in Urology as Haemorrhoidectomy wasn't their area. At least three staff members tried to get a Colorectal or General Surgeon to talk to me after surgery, they claimed they did but this didn't happen despite repeated requests. As someone with more care needs than most, it was vital I talk to a Dr. I was kept in a second night as I'd not spoken to anyone but then discharged the next day still with nothing. I repeatedly asked if I needed a catheter as I was unable to pee without very hard straining and wasn't supposed to strain but without a Colorectal Dr nobody could help. Nobody checked the site. UhL have info leaflets on my type of Haemorrhoidectomy, yet I was never given one or told how to make recovery easier. I went through a tough time the day after surgery with my personality disorder but felt alone. This is not the fault of Urology as they were truly outstanding, but Colorectal was terrible. I still do not know if I still have haemorrhoids or swelling and was told to call the Surgeons secretary, not sure how she will know when she hasn't seen the area. I have been sent home not knowing what to expect and nobody could answer my concerns about when spasms start and if I could have medication to relax the muscles. I would recommend Urology but do not have rectal surgery here

    I went for a hysteroscopy in the gyne dept today and after reading up on what this procedure would be like, I was dreading it. But the staff in the gyne dept were all so lovely and made the procedure less scary. Explanations of what they were going to do and what was found were given clearly and with kindness.
