  4. Review titled Awful experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lamia - Posted on 09 December 2022

We arrived at 5.30pm on Thursday was seen within 2 hours by the nurse and having my bloods done. The nurses were amazing. However, we were told blood results would be 45 mins. We were not seen by a Dr untill 915am Friday morning. They kept telling me it would be a couple of hours which was clearly a lie. I think communication between staff and patient needs to improve drastically. The hole time I waited to see a doctor approx 13 for my blood results, they then turned round and said I had an infection but we're giving you no antibiotics! So why someone couldn't have come and told me this 12 hours ago is beyond belief

  5. Review titled speedy and through treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by william john little - Posted on 30 December 2022

I dropped my elderly father off at a and e at 7.30am on Wednesday 28th December. He had a very bad chest infection - his treatment was excellent and he was sent home around 12.00 having had an xray, blood test, and heart monitored. He was given stronger antibiotics to take away. All in all an excellent level of service that left him reassured. Please pass on our thanks.

  6. Review titled Experience feedback

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 January 2023

Arrived at 12 with patient who had experienced a stroke. Assessment and scans were quick, treatment and further action that was required was delayed by a further 9 hours. The dept was understandably busy and everyone was working ever so hard. Care was very good, everyone lovely. But as an outside observer you have a serious technical system failure hindering the staff. In ambulatory once a patient has been seen they are then removed off the screen? Senior nurses were struggling to track patient's (openly and verbally discussing this problem). As a result they didn't know who was going where next. Some patient's were sent back to the waiting area and were forgotten if they were not on screen. After waiting 9 hours we approached a dr walking by and explained the stroke. They couldn't believe we had been waiting with no further action for so long. They had him sent to stroke unit within 15 minutes. I think the issue is also poor communication between teams to keep the flow going. Stroke unit on arrival had plenty of empty beds, should they have told ambulatory dept? On day of discharge there was a wait for medicines. We decided to leave to free the bed and was astonished to see it only just being made for a new patient when I returned to collect medicines 8 hours later. A free unused bed for 8 hours?! Pharmacy was overwhelmed by discharge medicine requests hence 8 hours. To improve they need a system to indicate when discharges are imminently or most likely the following day. Give them advance time to prepare medicine's and/or have a delivery system so that patient's can go home and free the beds quickly. Just ideas but it's the efficiency of the systems that will get things moving better. Or have someone in charge of checking the system flow, pin point the causes of delay and act to resolve it. Good luck.

  7. Review titled Is LRI rheumatology still seeing patients?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 December 2022

I've been on biological therapy and methotrexate for psoriatic arthritis for about 20yr. I haven't been seen by LRI rheumatology as an out patient for probably 3 years. My blood tests get lost, the helpline isn't answered and it's impossible to contact the rheumatology team. Today, I received a text asking if I still need an unspecified appointment in the department (that I don't actually have). Am I being discharged? Is it safe to have patients on biological therapy/methotrexate with no input from secondary care?

  8. Review titled awful wait lists and communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 December 2022

After 14 months on the waitlist to see a gynaecologist with suspected endometriosis, I got a text with an appointment date but no letter. On the website gynaecology is shown in a completely different building and when I found it there was no receptionist to check I was in the right place, luckily I found some lovely nurses who helped me and let me know I was there to see a doctor (not have a scan). The gynaecologist was also lovely. But I am now on a waitlist to have a scan and then will be on another to get diagnostic surgery and then another to have surgery to remove the endometriosis (if that's what it is). I have been left in serious, progressively worsening pain, for over a year and it looks like I'll have another year before I can actually diagnosed and appropriately treated. I'm not the only one - lives are being placed on hold indefinitely and people left in pain because gynaecology is being neglected by the Royal.

  9. Review titled A brilliant NHS and a really efficient A&E service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Santhosh - Posted on 08 November 2022

My nephew had a bad fall in a bicycle and had multiple injuries. Loughborough Hospital referred us to Leicester Royal Infirmary due to the complexity of the injury. Right from the start we had really efficient care from Nurses to Doctors. We had a CT Scan and Xray taken with Emergency doctor, ENT doctors and Maxillofacial Doctor reviewing and advising us. The nurse and staff all very helpful in checking the blood pressure, administering medicine and guiding us. My nephew is all right now and ever so grateful for our NHS and the excellent services in the odd hours of the night. I was also delighted as my nephew was able to have hot chocolate at 4am in the morning. NHS is such a brilliant service. Thanks to all who supported us.
